If the National Guard had not been become federalized troops, Faubus would have had a massacre on his hands. thanks to the white, "God Fearing" population. Pop was glad that Eisenhower was president, as he was NOT A BIGOT like Orval Faubus. Dad was in the 212th Signal Div. and attached to the 101st Airborne. It is one of the reasons why we moved out of Arkansas. "If you have a good heart, you are worth knowing no matter what color you are." Dad taught me this. Rest in Peace Pop.

What always amazes me of this clip is the girl's composure. In the face of such hatred and bigotry she was so resolute in her silence.
