we only have the dual tones not the repeated beeping and out stations kinda small but when we tone out they just dispatch us by saying Lafayette Fire and rescue your department is requested for fires/MVA or squad is requested for ems but its weird cause we have 3 engines a tanker, rescue and 2 squads so u really dont know what to go in lol

@killaharry12, I kinda liked those calls, because that's usually when I was still up. I'd usually get to bed around 4-5 in the morning, and the night crew were the only guys at the station so there was a good chance I'd be able to actually go on the call... :-)

We get texts sent to our phones, but sometimes they are very late. I had a call for a Gas Leak Outside and i got the text about 24 hours later. -_-

do you get text messages of calls too, because i hear you phone going off too, Our county has text paging and we get it before, during or couple seconds after our fire pager tones drop

That's not my phone but an alphanumeric pager, but yes, we do get texts of the calls to the pager not our phone... That would be cool though...

Yeah I'm an EMT-CC with Bay Shore Rescue and our calls get texted to our phones. It comes in handy.

that automated stuff is pretty clear, do you know how that works?

in the 911 center when you call it pulls up your phone anumber and adress and when the adress comes up it shows the nearest department in service that can respond they type in the the problem and adress it automatically pulls up the cross roads and the closest departments that can respond and then when they submit it it goes directy to the departemnts and thats how it goes down

pretty much. And that's why Falls and Durham Highway responded to our call because we were tied up on another call.

I've gotten used to them, but I do think that they are easier to hear cuz you have very little to no human error.
