Nomadic the last White Star Liner

This is a nice ship, And very glad she is being restored. Nice To have a ship that was with Titanic still around. Are there plans of this ship available would make a nice model to add to any collection. Right now I'm scratch building a 1/96 scale model of the Neptune a tug that towed Titanic out of Southampton.  Having this ship as a model would be great.

I think the title is very misleading for an otherwise nice little slideshow. The Nomadic is a tender, not a liner. The last White Star liner and ship to wear the colors of the old line in service, was the third Britannic (not to be confused with the Olympic-class liner of the same name), and she was sadly scrapped in 1960.

one problem tho. the Nomadic was merely the boat to ferry people over to the Titanic and such, it was never used for crossing the atlantic. a pity tho, as I am a Titanic enthusiast.

The Nomadic is not a liner its a tender used to carry people from the dock to the ship if the water was too shalow,if it were a liner it would actually travel across miles of sea,it would aiso be alot bigger

Sorry but she was not a liner, she was a tender a major difference. The Nomadic was a austerity ship used fore one purpose to transfer passengers between shore and ship. She was not capable to make liner voyages.....

Nice that they have saved here as a testimony to the historic White Star Line

The 100 year link between the SS Nomadic and Harland & Wolff has been rekindled. The shipyard made famous for building the Titanic has just been awarded a £2m contract to carry out restoration work on the Nomadic’s superstructure and steelwork almost 100 years after constructing her. Work started on the project on 31st January and is scheduled to be completed by the end of July.

@QuintsHat No, that is the RMS Olympic. You can tell because the Forward Promenade Deck was open on the Olympic, but it was closed on the Titanic.

Actually, there were 3 Britannics in White Star's history. "Britannic I" 1890-1903(she was scrapped), Then HMHS Britannic, & the last Britannic of the 1930's.

But about Normandic: I understand she was built out of the left over hull plates intended for Olympic & Titanic, is that correct?

The last White Star liner was RMS Britannic (1930-1960). She retained her White Star colors even after transferring to Cunard in 1934. Nomadic and Traffic were White Star tenders and Nomadic is the last White Star Line ship afloat.

this ship was not a liner, it was a small tender vessel that ferried passengers to the titanic, it is located in belfast, ireland and is under restoration in the titanic quarter and will be fully functional when finished.

You can see the Nomadic in the film Titanic, at Cherbourg. There's a restoration, but a lot of pieces of the ship were stolen like the original portholes with their White Star shutters, replicas of the Titanic. Or the ceiling lights in earthenware, here again like the ones in the Titanic's Gymnasium. Happily, the upper deck structure was kept to use for ballast down into the ship. I'm so disappointed, I'm Parisian, and I never had the chance to see the Nomadic !
