  • uh ohhh!

    Not enough power to horn.

  • Not enough power to horn? If you're saying this is under-powered... it isn't.

  • no i dident mean it it being underpowered.

i mean it sounded like it was going down in pitch.

  • It's because it is powered by a FWR power supply.

  • No it wasn't, it was powered by a Simplex 4001 which gives out filtered DC.

  • No. Most 4001s provide FWR, however there are some later models that provide filtered DC.

  • @CJ19Productions You mean earlier.

  • Read it again.

  • & when I was in Kindergarten & 1st grade, as I previousley mentioned, they had EST Intergeties & ADT 5050-001 Pulls.

  • When I was in Preschool, we had these alarms in Edgewater Public (I used to live there until 2003 when I moved) Now they have "BORNING" Commander 3's & FCI MS-2's.

  • Do you still have this?

  • I think the 2903 light/strobe plates are more commonly found with Simplex 2001 systems. However, some 2001 systems use 4050-80 light plates, and there's a supermarket near my college with a Simplex 2001 system that has SAE AV32 strobe plates!

  • What college do you attend and what is the supermarket called?

  • 1. I go to Massasoit Community College

    2. It's a Shaw's supermarket with the 2001 system

  • sounds awesome.

  • this was marchtime?

  • yes it was

  • is 2903 the whole model number for the strobe plate? (i might consider getting one which is why i ask) thanks.

  • no 2903 is not considered the whole model number for the plate, I just can't find the rest of the model number so thats why I put 2903

  • oh, ok. thanks. if you find it please let me know.

  • Yeah, on the back of mine,it also says 2903.

  • Sweet vid! I've heard that the incandescent 2903 is actually brighter than the strobe version. Is that true? If so, I'd imagine it must be one of those 1 cd strobes. Those aren't very bright at all, but they're still cool

  • cool

  • WELL LUCKY YOU!

in MYYY school room we have the same one and

in my science room i sit on the whole other

side of the room from it and every time

we have fire drills its MURDER.

    haha

  • they tested these alarms at my school today. the school was built in 77' and its the same alarms installed when the school was built. so late seventies. it wasnt as loud as you would think. i could hardly hear it and i wasnt any more than ten feet from it, and i was in a science room where the tile and walls amplify the alarms volume.....

  • I didn't know the 2903 light/strobe plates existed back in the late 1970s

  • how old is the 9838

  • The 9838s came around the mid to late 70s I'm assuming. The town's park bulding where I live was built in 1977 and they had 9838s in 2903 light plates. They were replaced with Wheelock speaker/strobes a couple of years ago.

  • Actually I think the 9838s came out around the mid-1980s. The earliest the 2903 light plates were out was around 1979 or 1980.

  • @wileyk209zback I believe they were introduced in 1983.

  • @Farenheit4051 The 9838s are probably from 1983. I seem to recall seeing a fire alarm system from 1980 or 1981 online once that had 2903 retrofit plates.

  • how come the strobe is more red then most 2903's

  • this would be funny!! if you wired up all of your alarm sounders and tehn activated them all!!

  • U can pic up the strobe better if you keep shaking the camera! it actually works

  • I heard that some electromechanical horns (mostly the really old ones) can be louder than electronic horns.

  • Well 9838s are quiet but the 9846 which is still an old horn is SUPER loud.

  • Some 9838's can be quiet. The one in the locker room over here sounds very low. I snuck a quick peak during a fire drill.

  • All 9838s are quiet.

  • This 9838 sounds much more eerie than the otherone and this one also sounds better.

  • This one sounds much better than the other one.

  • can u make a vid of this doing code 3 plz

  • sure when i find the time to do it I still have a special request to do by alarm997.

  • cool thanks

  • I though that you would never do that vid but thanks for rembering

  • I thought a 9846 was freaky in march time but this is freakier as they are different horns and have a different tone. PS. The 9846 is several decibels louder than a 9838.

  • idk but just as a side note this was taken in a small room which is my bedroom.

  • Is it quiet like most 9838's?

  • I honestly do not know because mechanical horns all have different tones and stuff..

  • Yeah but the 9838s are nothing compared to the 9846.

  • it sure is louder. The 9838 i 87dB @ 10', whereas the 9846 i 100!!!

  • yup and I have a 9838 and im getting a 9846 soon

  • Nice video! I love 9838s and it sounds awesome in march time.

  • I like the 4001s but i have a MS-5024 and thats all i need it can do codes

  • yeah all panels that have march time pretty much put out the same marchtimes.. (except for the older panels that are slower)

  • Did you code that to march time?

  • Yes I coded it to march time useing the panel.

  • You still have Dan's panel?

  • Weatherdan or Federal3T22?

  • Weatherdan.

  • Well its not his panel it is just the same panel he has I got it off ebay...

  • Cool. i just asked cause I hear you two are great friends.
