It is amazing how well he has sung this song. If I remember, he was not formally trained in Carnatic music, only learnt through his experiences as a theatre artiste in his earlier days. It is unfortunate that he received national award only for his singing, but not for acting, although I am sure millions will agree that he deserved for both. I am glad that recognition came atleast later. He will always be loved and cherished by the people of Karnataka. He is simply UNFORGETTABLE!!

I went to theater only for 2 Kannada films: JC, and Akasmika. Thats it. Bhakta Ambareesha would have been amazing. That kind of film was Dr. Raj's Blood - you can see here in JC.

The reason for so much fuzz about annavru is because of the roles he played in his career. His roles were moral science class for the whole of kannadigas (or perhaps to every one). If one wants to teach what is right to their kids, they don't need to send them to some hifi school. All they need to do his show them movies like bhaktha kumbara, bhagyavantharu, badavara bhandhu, bangaradha manushya, bangaradha hoovu, kasthoori nivasa, sanadi appanna, babruvahana, sandhya raaga, kantheredu nodu..
