Do NOT get this phone! I REPEAT! DO NOT GET THIS PHONE! I have had this phone for a year and the battery melted down, so I had to spend money on a new one. The RAM is extremely crappy, takes 3 minutes to start up, and HAS LOW MEMORY, DO NOT GET THIS PHONE. EVER!!!!!
I have a decision and its a really hard one because both phones are so old now but my mobile carrier only has the motorola droid (the first one also known as the motorola milestone) and this phone. Now out of your opinion (or anyones) which one should I get? I can't decide because they are both so old and if I had a choice I would get a completely different one but out of those two which one should I get?
Theres 4 things i dont like about this phone.............Its screen breaks easily, the battery life, it doesnt have a slide out keyboard, and it kinda gets a little sluggish but its the best phone i have ever had....im getting the HTC Toug=ch Pro 2 tomorrow.....oh and im 13 :D
@rjoaao try ebay, mine is set to be delivered wednesday, which happens to be my birthday! i got mine used for 54 dollars after s&h and from what i've tried to find one at sprint so i could get it new, but i don't believe they sell them anymore...
i got this phone a few weeks ago and I LOVE it! Its great for everything. I would recommend it to anyone. The only thing i would say is make sure you get an app 'killer' from the Android Market because if you do have a lot of apps running at a time it drains the battery. :)

OMG that's one of my other favorite phones on sprint. Nothing wrong with the Restore! It's the only phone that I see right now on sprint that I'd "downgrade" to
I tried out the Exclaim but it was too bulky.. Restore is way better.
You can get a cheaper data plan with it if you need to...still saving you $ ($15)

@BAdudes1023 I once had a thread like 5000 texts. I had to reset phone to factory conditons. Now i dont allow a thread to get over 800. I delete it, and it takes like 5 minues, just keep the screen on, and click 'Wait' when ever it says the program isnt responsive. Itll delete eventually

I know what you mean. The Evo is nice but this phone has more character and its smaller, lighter and not as bulky. I've had 2 coworkers already return their HD2's and EVO's...
Hero, Eris, Incredible, iphone, Nexus are much more comfortable to own.
@theblur24 It's definitely a great phone. Doesn't quite compare to the EVO now, but it's definitely a top 3 or 4 phone on Sprint (which by coincidence, are all HTC phones)
Blackberry is cool, but very outdated by RIM now. They need to step up. I switched from my BB to the Hero a few days ago and couldn't be happy. The level of customization is UNREAL. So many apps and widgets, plus the performace of the phone itself is great.

I dissagree with you 1rewd1, i believe this american version looks so much better, its very stylish and doent have that ugly chin the european version offers at the bottom of the device. I think this is a very modern look and i cant wait till mine arrives :-) already ordered it from Sprint!

No, trackballs are held in well, it has a ring that covers more than half of the trackball. I have owned a blackberry and a G1 with trackballs and they stay in very well.
the battery life isn't terrible, it should be better than what it is because of the phones capabilities. It constantly runs apps that haven't been closed because of the multitasking, but they have an app to shutdown open apps that aren't being used
its gonna cost u 69.99 thats the unlimited mobile to mobile (any carrier) unlimited data...text...web..and 450 anytime minutes(used for landlines) i hope taht helped u lol

Yeah it's better then the Iphone, and I'd still pick this over the iphone 3gs, this phone is the future. And yes you will get charged automatically to your sprint bill when you download androids.

I don't know about you, but I like SIMPLICITY, type a letter and choose which word I want to be displayed. I want to be able to text without having to slide out the keyboard or pressing hard keys.
I'm an EXTREME user, and every second is crucial to me.

Just got back from out of town, where I was using email, text, and the phone/speakerphone all day... and also Google Maps and the Sprint Nav quite a bit.... Handles everything with speed, its great.
I had an iPhone a year ago, and I would pick the Hero everyday of the week over that p-o-s, because the Hero has it all and then some, and it all WORKS.
This is the SWEETEST phone!! I continue to download widgets and apps daily. The Iphone is kinda generic now and people are looking for alternatives. I'd have to say this is a good alternative to the Iphone. If you're thinkin of switchin, now would be the best time. Also sprint is getting the new Samsung Moment with android, and a full slide out keyboard. To be honest, I think the Moment is a tad better...
Yeah, that's hot..I jus got the samsung s30 a few months ago, now this is out!..Damn I gotta get it...Sprint has the best service to me, hands down..I have 5 phone lines with unlimited data and messaging, which includes a 3g data card for my laptop and only pay $250 a month...Plus, I can call any cell phone for free without using my minutes! T-mobile or At&t can't touch that....

i have had 9 blackberry pearls in the last 1 1/2 years lol blackberrys break too easy but the one i have now i threw 100 feet on cement twice dropped it in water more then 4-5 times and all that's broken is the clicking ability on the trackball lmao

Well, they do now, with the new Everything Data plans with free mobile-to-mobile talk on any network. This phone is so sweet here! Wish I would have waited to get this one instead of this boring Blackberry Tour.
You might wanna check out AT&T's plans a little closer. If you want unlimited messaging and data, you will have to pay extra for it. Sprint's plan prices include unlimited messaging and data. AT&T's don't include it. When I compare my current Sprint family plan to AT&T, I save $40/month with Sprint. If your budget is a little tight like mine, then choosing Sprint is a no-brainer.
This could be an IPhone Killer! What I like the most is the Android OS, and that you can pop the cover and change memory & battery. The IPhone won't allow you to do either. I'm gonna try this phone soon...
Just a quick FYI on the Sprint plans (I am an indirect for Sprint so if you need one I can drop ship to you and see if you qualify for a discount!) - The Simply Everything plan is just that - "All you can eat" plan. I would recommend that if you have this plan you call in and tell Sprint to "block 3rd Party Data". That is the $10 charges you can get from a text subscription (ringers, etc.) The the Everything Data Plan will included free M2M to any carrier - min are for landline only!
Depends on which ones your talking about. The 69.99 is 450 minutes and unlimited data and texting, for 99.99 you get unlimited everything, minutes, mail and data/messaging. Cheaper than everyone else by at least 30 bucks I believe
The 450 minutes is if you talk to anyone that isnt on Sprints network. If you call people on Sprint you can talk forever w/o being charged. Dont forget too, usually after 9 pm you get unlimited nights and weekends. But most of my friends are on Sprint, plus I dont usually call people
I have and love my iPhone but I would love for it to do more without having to fool around with jailbreaking and hacks and trusting other people not to brick my iPhone. The widgets here are so awesome. Thinking of going to Sprint for this or the Moment.

Get the Hero.. Unless you must have a physical keyboard.
Hero has a larger, higher res screen, Evdo Rev A, and better build quality.
Upgrade the Hero to 2.1 and you have a phone that still competes with newer Android phones. I got one!

I bought one of these on Friday and actually love it, and like it more than the iPhone. Most people who are talking trash about this phone have either (a) never used it, or (b) are idiots.

Yeah it's better then the Iphone, and I'd still pick this over the iphone 3gs, this phone is the future. And yes you will get charged automatically to your sprint bill when you download androids.

I just got my hero yesterday,
i love it, but does anyone know how to turn off the sound it makes when you turn it on?
i want it to not make noise when i turn it on whether its on silent or not.
and im 16 and i dont want my phone to go off in class so if i put it on silence do you guys think i'll be okay?

Ask yourself:
DO I need a bulky phone?
Do I really need a physical keyboard?
Do I really want to waste time and effort pressing keys?
I don't know about you, but I like SIMPLICITY, type a letter and choose which word I want to be displayed. I want to be able to text without having to slide out the keyboard or pressing hard keys.
I'm an EXTREME user, and every second is crucial to me.
Get the moment if that's what better suits your needs.

Just reading some of the reviews... I feel the same way about this phone, it is awesome!!
Just got back from out of town, where I was using email, text, and the phone/speakerphone all day... and also Google Maps and the Sprint Nav quite a bit.... Handles everything with speed, its great.
I had an iPhone a year ago, and I would pick the Hero everyday of the week over that p-o-s, because the Hero has it all and then some, and it all WORKS.

This is the SWEETEST phone!! I continue to download widgets and apps daily. The Iphone is kinda generic now and people are looking for alternatives. I'd have to say this is a good alternative to the Iphone. If you're thinkin of switchin, now would be the best time. Also sprint is getting the new Samsung Moment with android, and a full slide out keyboard. To be honest, I think the Moment is a tad better...

Yeah, that's hot..I jus got the samsung s30 a few months ago, now this is out!..Damn I gotta get it...Sprint has the best service to me, hands down..I have 5 phone lines with unlimited data and messaging, which includes a 3g data card for my laptop and only pay $250 a month...Plus, I can call any cell phone for free without using my minutes! T-mobile or At&t can't touch that....

the simply everything plan...is usually 100 bucks which is still cheap compare to att and the other companies... but i pay 90 since we have another phone with the same plan..

The sprint headquarters are in Missouri where i live so it might be cheaper but at one point of time me and my mom had 7 phones on the bill

i have had 9 blackberry pearls in the last 1 1/2 years lol blackberrys break too easy but the one i have now i threw 100 feet on cement twice dropped it in water more then 4-5 times and all that's broken is the clicking ability on the trackball lmao

Well, they do now, with the new Everything Data plans with free mobile-to-mobile talk on any network. This phone is so sweet here! Wish I would have waited to get this one instead of this boring Blackberry Tour.

You might wanna check out AT&T's plans a little closer. If you want unlimited messaging and data, you will have to pay extra for it. Sprint's plan prices include unlimited messaging and data. AT&T's don't include it. When I compare my current Sprint family plan to AT&T, I save $40/month with Sprint. If your budget is a little tight like mine, then choosing Sprint is a no-brainer.

This could be an IPhone Killer! What I like the most is the Android OS, and that you can pop the cover and change memory & battery. The IPhone won't allow you to do either. I'm gonna try this phone soon...

Just a quick FYI on the Sprint plans (I am an indirect for Sprint so if you need one I can drop ship to you and see if you qualify for a discount!) - The Simply Everything plan is just that - "All you can eat" plan. I would recommend that if you have this plan you call in and tell Sprint to "block 3rd Party Data". That is the $10 charges you can get from a text subscription (ringers, etc.) The the Everything Data Plan will included free M2M to any carrier - min are for landline only!

Depends on which ones your talking about. The 69.99 is 450 minutes and unlimited data and texting, for 99.99 you get unlimited everything, minutes, mail and data/messaging. Cheaper than everyone else by at least 30 bucks I believe

The 450 minutes is if you talk to anyone that isnt on Sprints network. If you call people on Sprint you can talk forever w/o being charged. Dont forget too, usually after 9 pm you get unlimited nights and weekends. But most of my friends are on Sprint, plus I dont usually call people

I have and love my iPhone but I would love for it to do more without having to fool around with jailbreaking and hacks and trusting other people not to brick my iPhone. The widgets here are so awesome. Thinking of going to Sprint for this or the Moment.
