  • Norman is one of the greatest here, a bit flat on the last high note before "sangen" but this is good

  • langweilig

  • I love this - orchestration is fantastic. She sings with a unique brittle nerve... and the last few minutes with no singing at all - makes this song a complete... little star

  • so many different sounds... soundscapes within one piece ... strauss is magical

  • @Babs22h You like Richard Strauss... ?

Shame he is a bit out of fashion

  • Jessye Norman. Magic! Pure magic

  • Today is the day when we here in Germany are likely to see the harmony & cooperation across races that we still seek in other areas of our lives. Today is the day when a Black child approaching a 'normal' German house will be greeted with open arms, & not suspicious glances. Today is the day in German speaking lands where the fellowship of humanity is observed above all that could separate us. Today is the day when we lay down our arms for armistice & at least pray for peace, for He is coming.

  • It's hard to believe that this piece was originally written for voice and piano only. Strauss's orchestration is quite magical here.

  • when was this concert?

  • wonderful!!!!!!!

  • were did you find this video???? I want it!!!!

  • This music is the late Strauss, more into the opera-ish sound...Like Rosenkavalier.

Verry beautiful sing by miss Norman!

Did hear Charlotte Margiono also years ago in this same piece.
