Hey I can't seem to play any videos from my Galaxy to my tv... I could play music and look at pictures, but everytime I try a video it says file not supported on my phone... I even recorded from my phone and tried it like the example from this video and it still didn't work.... help?
I tried this on a LE46B650 samsung tv using an S2. I thought it would be simple as the TV says "wireless DLNA" The phone didn't find the TV. After a while I called samsung and they tell me the TV must be hard wired to the internet so the DLNA could be wireless!!! I'm pissed off about this. Wireless my arse.
@Hemorrdroidsnet The video very clearly shows the TV playing when it is not connected to anything. Obviously any normal person would know that a TV needs either a wireless or a wired connection to work. However, it is not as obvious that a DNLA-compliant TV would lack wireless capability based on this description. TheMrWevo alerted me in his comment to something important I should watch for.
@TheMrWevo The Tv must always connect to the Router or AP, if I where you , i will never buy a wireless tv , it has a less performance of streaming FHD , while by wire it is faster and FHD, next time only look for a DLNA tv or devices, and have your Router Ready!!!.
This is such a big and great updrade from what was on the Galaxy 1, one the G1 you coulnt stream and vieos recored from the phone to any devices. I am so going to get one when Tmobile release for ti comes out which is in a few weeks hopefuly
you can use any dlna media sharing app on any android phone, which is dlna certified, and your tv should also be dlna compliant, the cellphone will work as a streamer and tv will be a client.
Is that the samsung le(?)c580 tv? I have the samsung le37c580 so will this work for me? I know my tv supports what you are showing here but will I need to buy EXTRA cables?

hi i have the SGS2 and a new samsung laptop that has DLNA i have done what you say in your video bt ike yours picks up your pc and tv i should pick up my pc but it does not do i have to turn it on connect to it first or what can you help please
but i was not able to activate AllShare on my Samsung 40 inch LED 5000 series TV and thus could not connect the device....what do I need to activate my Tv's AllShare (DLNA) ???
no it does not has any hdmi port but samsung introduce whole new technology ( MHL ) that means u can use an usb to hdmi adaptar it minimises the slots and looks beautiful overall u can use usb port both as usb as well as hdmi
@sandeepgahlawat12 so is the cable like a mini usb at one end and a normal USB at the other end, but if you plug the USB into the TV it transfers 1080p?

@harpersneil u can use DLNA from a DLNA mobile to a ps3 streamin in real time, i download movies all the time and watch them direct from my galaxy s to my ps3 :-)
ha ha ha Obviously not... Have seen one more before. Dunno why some video uploaders were naked while shooting the video and somehow people notice them naked in reflections. HA HA HA
Andy, this is great upload! I'm amazed how few video's there are about DLNA as it's brilliant! I do have a nice big Samsung 50" Plasma at home... but it doesn't have DLNA!!
I do however, have a PS3 which of course DOES have DLNA. I use it to stream from my PC. Are you able to make a video showing the Samsung GS2 connecting to the PS3 via DLNA? That would be amazing! Thanks for this upload, great video.
I move all my photo's and videos from one phone to the next, so the video list is every video I've taken in the last 2 years, which is quite a lot! The lag is simply while the phone loads in thumbnails for them all.
Samsung gs2 has wifi direct, you can connect usb dongles and external HDD that you would connect to pc's directly to SGs2 (with the correct lead) with no need of a pc.
@Hemorrdroidsnet Thanks for your videos. I assume he has the videos saved on his micro sd card, if the card is not a class ten it will be very slow to read such large files thus giving you a jerky motion because the device couldn't read it fast enough.
Hey, love your reviews, but I've just got 2 small questions, hopefully you'll mention them in your upcoming review of the phone. Firstly, I've noticed in some spec sheets and photos that the GS2 has a second, noise-cancelling mic, for stereo sound recording and obviously noise cancellation. @Ambushcrysis yeah sony bravia should have it depending on what model?. most sony led tv's will have it. htc desire is better then iphone 4, so yeah samsung galaxy s2 loads better.
@np231 On the HDMI topic, it should not be forgotten that HDMI out has different purpose than DLNA - DLNA is mostly media streaming and sharing, and you can actually have it on as a server for file sharing or even playback/encoding as shown, while HDMI only shares the screen, not files. but the question is will it blend?

hmm scrolling thru vids looked very laggy, is it because of the app or does that happen often?
guyon2342 9 months ago
@guyon2342
I have yet to experience lag on my SGS2 yet, so probably the video.
otester 9 months ago
@otester Yeah i meant the video app, he's scrolling thru the video's and it lags badly. I thought it might be the video app.
guyon2342 9 months ago
@guyon2342
If you look closely it's the amount of videos, when he starts scrolling the scroll bar moves up then flickers a bit showing its loading.
Doesn't necessarily mean the phone is at fault, probably the video app as you said.
(Btw originally I meant the video - camera recording).
otester 9 months ago
@otester Oh yeah, i didn't see the scroll bar ;) That probably explains why it looks laggy. It's just scrolling in a list thats growing :P
