@afarwat Hit your menu button, go into the 6th menu item from the left (second yellow spanner icon) and change your 'Video system' to NTSC instead of PAL. Then go into the 'Live View/Movie func. set.' menu (bottom of second yellow spanner menu item) and change 'Movie rec. size.' to 1920x1080 [30].
Keep in mind, if you are in a PAL region and you are filming under artificial lights (commonly fluorescent running at 50Hz) with 30fps you will notice some flickering in your footage.
I'm sure you're sensitive about your facial mark. However, having said that: I think it's so fucking bad ass that you look like a real life Kratos! Well, a geeky Kratos at least.
hmm... The reason why 1/40 stutters at 30P is because thats the incorrect setting to shoot 30P at. If you want to shoot in 30p you generally have to shoot at 1/60 and not 1/40.
As for as I know Youtube uses the H.264 codec in the MPEG4 format at 30p.
I defy anyone to pick out footage shot at 24p or 30p in digital form. They are both added fludder and motion blurring to fool the eye.
Okay, newbie here...why record in 24 fps vs 30 fps...I would think that the clarity would be better with more frames.
Also does one have to use Quick Pro to convert it to a useable format for Final Cut Pro and then use record to Blue Ray (vice DVD) to get the full benefits of HD?
People often film in 24p (24fps) to give a sort of "film look" to their video. In truth all this "film look" is really doing to your footage is making the video judderey without smooth motion. Due to the lack of understanding of 24p many users film in this format to achieve this look without realizing that all it does is make odd frames play for 1/30 of a second while even frames play for 1/20 of a second, creating non-linear and unsmooth motion.
I have just bought CANON EOS 500D. I shoot on 1280 30fps and would like to output the edit in DV AVI 25fps PAL. But the output is not smooth. What to do? I use adobe premiere. thanx
Can you do a tutorial for beginners on how to set the Canon 5D MK 2. I am a noob in all this stuff so a video tutorial and watching you do it would be extra helpful...I am more of a visual person this video really helps out too
I noticed you from the Twitter song too cool stuff :)
Would you update the description so people can know the good news? No more converting, but then again it would really defeat the purpose of the tutorial. Well, its still usefull for some time :)
my 5d mark2 shows only two options 24 p and 25p but not 30p , why ?

can´t you just render it out in 24p?
Jcbproducoes 10 months ago
@Jcbproducoes No you need to disabling resample or do it the way eyepatchentertainmen is showing you in the video for Sony Vegas.
ngvgnDOTcom 10 months ago
I'm curious. Why undersample to .799 (23.946) as opposed to undersampling at .800 (23.976 exactly). Could you provide some insight to this?
zagnut48219 11 months ago
May I ask, what format do you render in? I can't seem to find a good format.

Adobe premiere will not be smooth unless you use a plugin called twixtor to re-render the frame rate.

how do i convert to 25p for PAL ?
angularvelocity 2 years ago
Yeah I'm doing this with slightly different method, it will basically drop ever 3'rd frame.
Looks like original, unless you do quick pans.
ciril2010 2 years ago
You can reverse the process for the t1i and interpolate 20fps to 24. Might have to do another video for that

hi, nice video,
would you say the Canon is better than the Nikon D90 ?
Comixfreak 2 years ago
Yes, it is better, but it is 2x-3x more expensive. It does have full manual controls which puts it into another league.
