  • wow you actually gave that first part the sustain that it deserves, (0:37) before jumping in to that second movement.

  • he's playing this good but it can a little bit faster I think

  • @Piyanistcan5 JA, i don't belive you

    Please upload your interpretation

    Thanks

  • Very nice! That piano has a huge bass register! This is such a hard piece, nicely done!

  • 没有啥停顿

  • Awesome, he doesn't play the octaves at :42, it's written without octaves :) Good job! That's so hard!

  • Polka?:( So sad:( Sorry Maestro Rachmaninoff...

  • Never mind the boo boos. You have the dynamics (especially the crescendos) right, although it could do with a bit less pounding in spots. Technique can be practiced and learned. Interpretation is an art.

  • BRILLIAAANTT!!!!! EXELLENT!! You played it veeeryyy well! I think this one of the pieces where it is impossible to get all of the notes correct in a live performance, it is just waay to big, but your use of the pedal in the beggining was very good! :D

  • Very well played. A difficult piece to get absolutely perfect because of the many leaps across the keyboard. Even Horowitz and Gilels smudge notes in this work.

  • This is fantastic! I really enjoy playing this piece and I have uploaded my interpretation of this work. Please feel free to listen and comment!

  • Nice, clean performance. Not perfect maybe, but still nicely done. If I ever took this piece on I'd be pretty pleased if I could make it sound this good.

  • Great performance!!

The whole piece sounded so clear, and good use of pedal and dynamics!!

And I really like how you build it up after the middle section, which sounded gorgeous!!

    Thumbs up :)

  • how'd you do?

  • Excellent! Great work!

  • I respect anybody who can play this piece up to speed and still get at least 80% of the notes right--dynamics and expression are bonus points...so good job! Better than anything I could play, for sure!

  • noone is allowed to say shit about the mistakes unless they can play this piece flawlessly.

  • @LoftyProduction I disagree. I think one should be at least somewhat educated in a field to comment on something but that doesn't mean they need to be a better artist. One doesn't need to be a musician to decide whather or not they like a piece. Same for art, you don't have to be an artist to decide you like a particular painting or not.

  • @flyurway Not true all the way! Let me give you an example: I can't play piano for shit, even though I mess around with it all day long, but I can tell you right now that even though I will never play half as good as this guy, his performance is nowhere near perfect. He's good, he's really good, but not as good as lang lang, gilels, horowitz, Liszt, etc. Even thought, I can't play piano, I have some basic knowledge of Piano and not only can I say which one I prefer, but also which one's better!

  • @fuckaverageusers

Lang lang is really bad lmao

  • hmm interesting take on that piece...

  • Quite a few slip ups, and i think that there are a few weird rubato additions in the faster section. Interesting interpretation! Did you get through?

  • This is the BEST interpretation I've heard yet. I love his tempo, and his dynamtics are simply SUPERB!!! I love this version. WOW!! A 10 star performance, but can only give 5. I'm saving this as a model for me to follow.

    BRAVO!! EXCELLENT. Simply PHENOMENAL!

  • man after hearing a lot professionals and not professionals play this song do i realize how hard it is

  • great but seed it up a little bit.

  • Very interesting interpretation... I'm working on this piece now...

  • VERY VERY GOOG!!!!!!

  • I enjoy listening to almost all artist's recording of the better known classics. I find it fascinating to hear how others interpret classic music. If those who insist all performances should strictly "toe the line" on the sheet music, they may as well just get themselves a player piano, where every performance would be identical.

  • @desertdawg41 You tow the line, not toe it.

  • @Letspreach It means to place your toe near a line, not to pull a rope (but I think you knew that).

  • @Letspreach It means to place your toe near a line, as in to follow some instruction or protocol, not to pull a rope (but I think you knew that).

  • TOE THE LINE!!!

  • TOE THE LINE!!!

  • @desertdawg41 Sorry, wasn't meant for you, and I got it the wrong way round. Was trying to explain to someone the origins.

  • Interesting to see these videos on youtube. I played at this competition

Are you a professional? I thought overall you did fine however sometimes when you took time it didn't make any sense why you were taking it. also generally it takes a perfect performance as WELL as musicality to make it to the next round, but oh well that's why we play lots of competitions.

  • I agree: very interesting to listen to all these recordings on Youtube. You get a good insight into both the music and the performers: eg. Horowitz; Kissin; Gilels; Richter; Prokoviev. When you listen to these performances again and again, you can see where the "great divide" is between those and this performance. Perhaps in 10 years time this guy will cross that divide!

  • He didn't have a perfect performance anyways.

Not that there's such a thing, but there were a few audible mistakes.

  • Very clear. I enjoyed listening to it.

  • Great job! I loved your expression in the e-flat major section.

  • I think this piece is the best prelude rachmaninoff made

  • GREAT variation =)

  • I love it. you play very well. congratulations!!!

  • well played !!

  • Beautifully played, you convey a very clear and understandable phrase in the music. You've expressed the dynamics very well, very much like how it says on the sheet music. Well done. :)

  • Very Russian in style and very appropriate.

Great job although there were some mistakes.

  • niice...i play this song, but not better than him of course.

    congratulations!

  • can you please tell me a trick how did you play this so well, come on man, this is so professional....

  • Very good and proffesionaly played bravo!

  • "digusting" learn how to spell Xqwrtz

  • A very good player. Congratulations.

  • I like to your's interpretation. Very good!!!

  • The dynamics and interpretation are very nice. More practice will help with the mistakes.

  • I like it, congratulations, bravo muchacho !!

  • Your comments are disguasting guys, you have no right to criticize anybodys performance like that. This guy did his best, and it's a quite enjoyable performance, i would be curious if any of you could play this piece minimmally like this guy did... If you don't like it STFU and look for sb elses performance.

  • I like the musical development of the countermelody in the B part. Most amateur videos of this piece on youtube don't emphasize it at all and it. Just clean up, and perhaps slow down the main march section. Despite the mistakes...its a good start, and I can tell you really appreciate this music :)

  • I realize that this is nothing compared to how Rachmaninoff or Horowitz played it, but before you bash the poor guy, try to play it yourself and see how it goes. Not everyone can be a professional. That's why this is youtube and not a concert hall.

  • Nice job, you do some interesting things with the music, especially when to desc. instead of maintaining the dynamic level of cresc. Middle section was interesting too.

  • I like what he does musically--a few little things here and there with breathing within the phrases can be suggested. If he played it a few notches slower for a true 'Alla marcia', he wouldn't have any of those mistakes. Having never heard him, I find he has a genuine innate feeling for this music, but needs careful supervision to get a more mature vision of it--and he's young. I wouldn't bash this kind of talent.

  • two messups? are you people retarded? he messed up like 20-25 times minimum. you must really have no ear, or you simply haven't heard Rachmaninoff play it himself...

  • Yes he made a lot of mistakes. So what? Put up your own recording. Otherwise... please refrain from calling people retarded when you're the retard who cannot afford piano lessons nor a piano yourself.

Case closed. Ignorance is bliss. You're ignorant so you're happy! Yay!

  • How can you just judge me like that? I've 8 years of piano lessons, I now work with a children's choir as a conductor at RBC Bryte Church, and I work for the 2nd Slavic Chamber Orchestra of SBO as a pianist. Now case closed. God dam assumptive Aisian.

  • you're still a loser.. lol

bashing ppl for no good reason than to make yourself feel good.. it's called constructive critisism.. douche

  • isn't that what you just did?

  • criticism*

  • Look, I know you were on my side, but saying "you're the retard who cannot afford piano lessons nor a piano yourself" is just stupid.

  • I wanna say lol!!! U r right, he messed up many times, maybe cause his hands are too small. But he's good though

  • Either that, or maybe I'm just not anal retentive... Could be either one.

I know he messed up more than two times, that's why I said "the two *really bad* messups." I like the way he plays. Biegel88 said it well.

  • or maybe...you are all missing the most important point I'm trying to get at: DON'T PLAY A PIECE THAT YOU CAN'T BRING NEAR PERFECTION!! if a song is above your level, LEAVE IT ALONE...for a year or two. In this guys case...forever.

  • You are so completely full of crap! Music is for pleasure and if it gives someone pleasure to play a certain piece - perfectly or not - then he or she should play it! If you find listening to it to be unpleasureable, then you are perfectly free not to listen.

  • I have to say that this is maybe my 2nd or 3rd favorite recording, and I've heard a LOT of recordings. Don't listen to that jackass who likes to pretend he knows something by saying you need "better dynamics and pedaling," everybody says that. You were awesome. The only think that bugged me were the two really bad mess-ups in the first half, but that can be fixed with practice. I would have given you the grand prize. Well done.

  • Very nice. I played this many years ago, but not as well.

  • you're amazing. i hope i can play this song some day
