Canada was in the war in 1939. @Zooni2 This was not about France! your argument is ridiculous! France did not declare war on the Reich over french possessions... They declared war over the invasion of Poland which prior to ww1 belonged to Germany and parts of which were occupied entirely by ethnic Germans... This would be the equivalent of another Empire declaring war on France for trying to retake Vietnam on the bases that french settlers lived there, and that ownership of the region prior to ww2 belonged to France...

@Heineken57sauce It was England and France that fired first?  Which stupid view of history have you been taught? Germany invaded Poland and England and France told Germany if it did not withdraw from Poland, war would be declared. Germany did not do so, and therefore war was declared.

First Austria attacked Serbia for vengeance over they're leaders assassination, Second Russia attacked Austria, Third Germany attacked Russia, Fourth Brittan and France attacked Germany, Then the Ottomans Italians and later the Bulgarians and Romanians jumped in for the hell of it... every one else was grabbing other people's shit why shouldn't they?

thanks, it isn't the Jeremy Clarkson's point of view about france and our rubbish cars! but i have to acknowledge that London and the whole british culture is really fashionable in france, and it is common to see french teens wearing union jack shirts etc. I don't know why our countries are both so close and distant at the same time... it's maybe the reason of our hundred years old alliance...
