I have used the computer for 3 months now. I'm sad to say I would not recommend buying a vostro. The fan heating is loud but I don't mind that (my work place is cold so I like the extra heat). But the audio is very bad. It's like not having speakers at all. I always use headphones or extra speakers now (I never did that with my old Dell Inspiron). It's a pain. Total impression: The low weight is nice but the computer is ugly, have bad audio. Don't buy a Vostro :-(
@datott shit man i need a pc laptop, i have this macbook pro its awesome cool etc.. but its expensive to go out bith if someone steals it ..... im looking for a laptop what is cool and working better and good speakers ? ? ?
Does it have a LED screen or is it standard CCFL? This is a dealbreaker for me between the Inspiron 14 (which has it) and this Vostro 1320, as I am going to study multimedia and graphics design in college this next spring. LED screen will have better blacks and contrast levels compared to a CCFL.
I don't know. I don't think it's LED. I payed for some "antireflex" screen. But since it's Dell I could choose between 2 different screens. Don't remember what the other type of screen was (the one I didn't choose).
@kinesis420 ... when you see a razor thin laptop or netbook, it's always LED backlit LCD. In fact, LED backlit LCD is much cheaper to manufacture, better more accurate non-interlaced lighting (flicker-free better for the eye), lighter weight, less space, more durable, and uses a lot less battery. The cool-to-the-touch feel is the giveaway as well as the super thin size. Another advantage is that lids of laptops with LED backlit screens won't get loose and break as easily as the old crap.
It was just the first time it took so long to boot. But IMHO the Dell Vostro is not a quick booting machine. Apples machines is way faster. So if booting speed is important to you I would try to find some other computer. :-/
Yes, you are right that it might depend on something else than the hardware. I'm just comparing what I bought with what my friends bought. Their machines boot up is faster than mine. My computer boot slower than some of my friends running Dell Latitudes (all of us running win7). I think it could have something to do with me having encrypted harddrive and them don't.
May be. But the specs seems to be good, so I don't see an obvious reason for slow boot times unless it is down to OS. It might be down to relatively slow RPM on HD, but again, I'm sure light distro of linux would boot very fast.
Yes, maybe if I changed OS it would boot faster. The harddrive is 7200 RPM but I heard that you should go for a 10 000 or solid state if you want real fast boot times. In my mind I blame the encrypted harddrive though. I need to log in 2 times when booting my computer (once for the harddrive encryption and once for the os). Still, despite the boot time, I like my Dell Vostro :-)
I totaly agree that the keyboard layout could be better. I'm still having trouble with Page up and Page Dn being next to the arrow-keys. I accidently hit them from time to time. Very annoying.
No, I can't remember what it said, but not 125 kg. Sounds weird. But it took a very long time for Dell to deliver. More than 1 month. Sucked big time.
Ha ha, I heard about somebody who recieved a single power cord packed in a big wooden crate. Maybe the same thing will happen to you :-) Keep us posted, hehe.

@motalibi Sorry, can't help you. Hope everything worked out.
I was very fond of Dell, had a whole line of Dell-computers. But Vostro changed my mind about the company. I'm not satisfied with it :-(

@GICTechTV If you want good speakers, don't go for a dell Vostro. It's like not having speakers at all.

Is it always take such a long time to boot or it was just for the first time?

Super ignorance, don't blame the machine, blame the OS.
How can you compare a Mac running OSX to DELL running Windows...

Vostro 1320 is a fine laptop except for the ridiculously stupid keyboard layout for the EU/UK machines, the shift key is too damn small.
