i dont get upset often but the passing of paul hunter was truly very sad this guy played the game with a smile on his face somemany misrable robots in the game now
White should have beat Davis in the first round in 81. Steve was past himself that he drew White in the first round but Davis won 10 - 8. If White had won in 82 he would have dominated. Watch Higgins in the semi, most nervous he ever was, didn't know how to cope with Whites potting. That break of 69, brilliant, but robbed Jimmy. Higgins played better in 1980 when he was 9 - 5 up against Thorburn. then 82.
RIP paul hunter i had the priveledge of meeting you on the openeing of the Ladbrokes bookmakers in Blanchardstown/mulhuddart there about 3 years before you passed. you took time to greet fans and sign autographs. your short time in the game was always memorable and the snooker world will never forget you. R.I.P. Pretty boy you legend :-) Gavin, dublin.
Jimmy White always gracious in victory and defeat. After 12 years without a ranking tornament win he could have been forgiven for errupting but it never even entered his mind. Same applies to Paul Hunter (RIP) great sportsman.
If it wernt for a single miss in WC82 semis vs Higgins, and also if it werent for two men, Steve Davis and Hendry, Jimmys name would have been engraved on the world trophy more eight times. He didnt have his fair share of luck. But a magnficent ambassador for the game of snooker. Paul Hunter, a great player and a great man. RIP mate. A Master of snooker, as the Hall of fame at Wembley testifies. I am sure your absence will always be felt by so many millions who knew you on TV and in person.
Agreed! If White had won the worlds in 1982, which he should have done he would have become the youngest ever World Champion and the monkey off his back before it had even had chance to climb up it.
@grabar20 Because Alex Higgins beat him 16-15 in the semi final, white was 15-14 ahead and 50 points ahead when Alex Higgins made what many say was the best clearance ever seen under presure.
@grabar20 Jimmy "never that good"? Hmm, trolling much? Either that or you just haven't seen Jimmy at his best. He's not "arguably" the best player to have never won it, it's indisputable.
@grabar20 Your full of shit, read Jimmys wilkapedia page, hes got an impressive resume, hes won all kind of titles, and was a world champ finalist 6 times,he made it to the finals 6 times,in snooker, have you any fucking idea how hard that was?Id bet my ass you couldnt finish one frame.
look i didnt think Paul Hunter was a future world champ but he was a good solid player and by others accounts, a great guy. WHy would you want to speak ill of the dead?? ure a sick bastard vinnothelizard.
@Zidean007 In my opinion he was a certain future world champ. Look at the record books...Youngest ever world ranking title winner (Welsh Open), youngest ever world ranking finalist, youngest ever world ranking semi-finalist and 3 time Masters Champion (one of the hardest tournaments to win). He was a class player and is sadly missed in the world of snooker by me and thousands of others!
@Zidean007 shut up man. just cause hes dead it means you have to suddenly be up his arse. i love paul hunter as much as the next guy but if someone dont like him then there aloud to have there opinion on him. just coz hes dead dont mean eveyone suddenly has to like him or never say a bad word... get real mate...
vinnothelizard you are prob the biggest tosser I have ever seen. Stick to fucking yourself up the arse rather than posting stupid comments like that. TWAT!!!!
That's not true. If he was still around he would be better than Mark Selby, Murphy or Maguire for example. Winning the masters 3 times in 4 years (and reaching the semi finals of the other year) is something that I can't see any player achieving now.
@Roflaids Pure speculation sadly. He was class when he was around though the rest is all speculation. Remember him for what he did. The rest is rather pointless
Death for some people is to hard to bare, therefore, they develop a defense mechanism to shield them from the pain and reality of it all. How would we like people to talk and remember us by when we die? Not the way you have remembered Hunter that's for sure. I hope yu find peace. May Peace be upon You Paul.
@StephenHendry123 Jimmy White doesn't have mental stamina??? He has been a pro for 31 years and is still ranked in the Worlds top 64! I would call that....Stamina!
At least Jimmy won one last event before his rapid slump into the abyss (though he has a chance of qualifying for the World Championship this year, he has to beat Mark King though). Poor Paul never got another title under his belt.
This was one of first snooker games I was watching live in Tv and reason why I became huge fan. Way too bad Paul Hunter is no longer with us. Snooker fans never forget him. R.I.P
Jimmy was starting to lose his game here!
Shame as he's missed these days!

At around 1:17 Hunter sends the white (no pun intented) into a pocket, but after that, he's been given ball in hand....? Why didn't he lose his turn?
Eskidead 1 year ago
@Eskidead jimmy could've took the shot but he decided it was too risky and let the opponent to.
Girtez 1 year ago
@Eskidead my guess is because he scored at the same time? lol I wonder that too

Jimmy White and his snooker career... is over.
He will never get back into the top 16 because he doesn't have the mental stamina.
