My first Yes concert was in West Lafayette,Indiana. Mackey Arena at Purdue. April 22,1979 They came onstage after the opening brightlite theme to Close Encounters. Everyone's hair was standing on end. Then they mounted a huge rotating stage. It was awesome. They just spun round n' round all night.
I was there also for the Birmingham,Al show. I had 4th row seats and could barley believe my eyes. Thank You YES for never giving up on the southern U.S
I saw this tour and was at the wembley gig in 78. .. in a great seat at the front. At the time it was the most sensational staging we had ever seen... with the rotating drum and Jon in the centre. I have seen YES many times but this was my favourite gig of all time. I can still remember Jon dressed almost as an angel waving his arms and singing those soaring melodies to the sky. What a great night it was. Thanks for posting.
@11shinnosuke OMG I was there too. Seems such a long time ago, but still fresh in the memory. Some things one never forgets. Hope you had good seats there!
Saw them in June of '79 in the round in Bham Al .Prior to show, met Jon and Rick outside of their hotel across street. Sweet sweet youth ;) thanks for posting
Great song! I "borrowed" the song melodi (vers) and made into a guitarpart in one of my own songs...twin guitars...some kind of Thin Lizzy meets Jon Anderson feeling maybe?? :-D
When I saw this tour in the round at the Phila Spectrum in '79, I thought that it was the best show I ever saw until I saw Kansas on their "Monolith" tour also at the spectrum.....the most underrated live show; PERIOD!!!!!!
wow ..not very often that you hit on a you tube vid and can say you were there. I remember it well. Was at the '78 show but this was better. Both were in the round. They played the "gahhhhden" for 2 or 3 nights I recall. Sounded great. Probably when they were at the peak.
UFOs are seen by thousands of people everyday, its just a matter of how much we look up,which is not very much at all.The more people look up the more we will see.
My first Yesshow too...sat in Row 7, so close to the revolving stage. I was excited beyond description when the intro music began and the band were picked out in bright, almost silver light as they made their way to the stage. Was to be the first of many memorable nights with a wonderful band and wonderful followers too.
Memories of a fantastic tour/gig/album .... thanks for the post !!
I was at the awesome Wembley gig 78 (and even got Chris's used bass pick from a kind roadie at the end).
I floated home that night, all the 300 miles I traveled to get there with no ticket (met someone with a 5th row spare, so thanks too to those great peeps who sold it me at cost)
I also have a piccy of me with Chris at the Liverpool Ladder tour gig, a full band autographed program with Igor on keys that night. Then I went and bought a Rickenbacker cs 4001 signature bass. There is a DVD out of the Tormato tour (looks like a bootleg) , I have that too.
An incredible tour in 1979. I caught them the previous 3 nights in New Haven (2) and then in Springfield; they started playing UFO that last night. Great rare posting. Thanks for the memories.
THIS SONG IS AN ABSOLUTE DISASTER MADE ALL THE WORSE BY THE INCREDIBLE WAY THAT THEY PLAY IT. TECHNICAL ECSTACY FOR SURE... BUT HORRIBLE FUCKING SONG!
This is an awesome song about our great space brothers and the ongoing helpful work with humanity

Ok. I normally like this song in a "Oh, that's kind of cute" way, but the last few minutes of these are REALLY intense! :)

Think Ian Wallace, when he was in King Crimson, was the first drummer to use a drum synthesizer in 1971/2 (VCS3) manipulated by Peter Sinfield !

Tormato was a creative album..
not a the good period (he was destroyed like evry 1970 groups)
Perhaps the best White period (not talking about the solo)
