It is a must have as far as I'm concerned. I use it all the time. Be sure and look at the photos where you can see some of the many uses for it. I have only two left in stock and due to slow sales, because of the lousy economy, I don,t plan to make any more until the demand picks up.
for my opinion this "little" tool could save a lot of time and money... when I think of the different jobs you could do with it, like sorting scrap of a small demolition job, broken concrete could be placed in the hopper while digging out old fence posts for example. On big machines with sorting grabs I've seen the drivers placing 10m³ containers filled with scrap from demolitionsites. The only thing they couldn't do... empty them. And why use two machines when one can do quite the same.
Yes the hoppers are great for sorting on cleanup and demo jobs. I use 2 or 3 sometimes to quickly sort concrete, garbage, metal. Thanks for your interest. If you want to talk to one of my customers who use an excavator hopper regularly give me a call and I can set you up to do that.360-862-1034
It puzzles me why anyone would knock a tool that they have never used or have seen in use. It is so useful for me in so many ways that I never go to a job site without it.
Have you ever had to get off your machine to shovel or hand throw debris into a loader bucket? With a hopper you grab a grade beam and with a couple swings your picked up and gone without getting off to hand load. Yeah!!
The excavator hopper allows the operator to do things like self loading using a grade beam in seconds the leftovers that occur constantly on each and every job. Also a hopper can be quickly placed next to spoils piles where labor workers can hand load the hopper while the machine goes about digging or grading. The cost of a laborer and operator is about one dollar/min so in just 25 hrs the price of a excavator hopper is recovered
Hmm, ok. I dont quite agree with you regarding the effectiveness of the hopper. I would probably either drag a wagon with me, and be able to take many times more of material or perhaps taking a loader (big or small) to do the job for me, as that is way more effective.

Invention? Ah, I thought you were just showing us your talent behind the joysticks.
I big bucket must be more effective than that, right?
