  • Beautiful. Bravo.

  • i never knew that Charles Bronson liked New Order ...

  • "Very funny boys"

  • BRONSON!

  • sit on my silent face

    XD

  • Comment removed

  • Thumbs Up , if BRONSON brought you here!!!

  • Charlie Bronson ...

  • My favourite New Order track ever :D

  • new wave at its best!sad and melancholic yet you like it to play over and over again, how these current artists not compose songs like this one...

  • Tnx for the song and the colour palettes! xD

  • Excellent idea! Peter Saville would be proud.

  • I enjoyed the vid lots! thnx. what a beautiful track. i thought the colour bars with changing palettes was super well chosen + not to mention a nice idea!

  • exquisite video to an exquisite song..

    thank you.

  • no comment.for once i ve got a silent face.

  • love that bass

  • THAT S MAKE ME FEEL HUMBLE EXPRESSION TO MAKEING NEW THING.

  • Just heard this song on the Bronson movie. It was my favourite bit.

  • Lovely song, but your video is making my eyes go funny.............

  • uploaded at my 39th birthday!

    thanx

  • "Nah, luton's where it's at..."

  • another note: i saw NO once in chicago, early 90s. this was their last song, and just as it was starting, hooky leaned into the microphone and simply said "ian curtis". and i lost it. i think the whole theater lost it. powerful stuff.

  • @MrBlairblack Hell yeah - I'm just sitting here and I'm losing it now!

  • cold, distant, and completely full of life.

  • I wish each one would last longer, instead of repeating them. Otherwise, it's fucking amazing.

  • WTF IS THIS DEPRESSING VIDEO?

  • I would concur with lyndonnorton

I love the very last lyric, "you've caught me at a bad time, so why do you just piss off"! It really marked NO coming into their own,...with the electronic instrumentation coming more to the fore... Even though it's still melancholic it sounds more NO than JD."

but one small addition I been thinking about lately,it must have been really horrid for Ian,but imagine someone coming to you saying "Ian's dead",must have shattered them!Lot of guts for them to carry on

  • what a fantastic song!

  • I do like your colours!

  • this is the absolute best.

  • I love the very last lyric, "you've caught me at a bad time, so why do you just piss off"! It really marked NO coming into their own, (by that I mean the album its from) with the electronic instrumentation coming more to the fore. Also with Barney starting to care less if the lyrics sounded poetic enough or not. Even though it's still melancholic it sounds more NO than JD.

  • @lyndonnorton1981 Doh the lyric is meant to say "...so why don't you piss off".

  • you've caught me at a bad time/so why don't you ...

    XD

  • if i were to chose one single music to take with me into a desert island this would be surelly the one....

  • So now you're a walking billboard. Frign' never knew NO were hookers?

  • que tema por dios me llevo a mi adolecensia.unos ARTISTAS asi con mayuscula

  • is this from the 80's?

  • @MarioBrosClassic Yes I think the first electro was Jean Michel Jarre if anyone knows

anything before that let me know cheers!

  • Agree with Canuck21 - New Order have so many great tracks on Movement ,Power Corruption and Lies and Low Life but people only remember Blue Monday and True Faith,i suppose that's the way they wanted it though, never do interviews and let the music do the talking, think Hooky was naffed off that The Perfect Kiss video was never aired, nearly 10 mins of brilliance just wasted imo

  • How about one with some of the new pattern? Would be cool...

  • not chill man... not chill

  • skyewie

  • newshiey skiewiou

  • nooshie skoouwie

  • MAGNIFIQUE

  • "So it was time to suck in the free air, and see what the world had to offer me."

  • oh God I love this and the album Power Corruption and Lies in my own opinion is a work of art!

  • Absolute bliss!!!!!!!!!!!!! what a song

  • bronson!!

  • Listen Orbital's "Style" ... some resemblance

  • Also sounds like Europe Endless by Kraftwerk.

  • Having been a bit of a fan of New Order for the last 20 years, I was amazed to hear this song for the first time last night whilst watching the film Bronson. I inially thought it was a Kraftwerk piece I'd never heard before. Brilliant song.

  • New Order have a great catalog, it's too bad most people only know their more popular songs.

  • I have this vinyl!

  • i was 8

  • possibly one of the best bands of all time. so much talent...very deep.

  • It would be better if the color palettes were chosen by an LSD user.

  • They were. :D

  • Ok i agree. The idea is an experienced idea done with great taste for choice of song. A subliminal confederate flag IS inserted in the color concert. I don't know ! Did you?!?

  • @realitybites I know. Bless you for this beautiful thing. Tears, laughter at once.

  • @realitybites I know. Bless you for this beautiful thing. Tears, laughter at once. And I loved first quarter color class in design school, you little bastard. Thank you!

  • I keep coming back to this video...been listening to this song for a long time...the color palettes remind me of the record sleeve (just a small part of the sleeve because the rose painting is what made up the rest)...this video is in my playlist and I listen to it over and over...just ty for posting...tyvm

  • Pretty much a perfect video for this song: distant, mechanical, beautiful. Bravo!

  • Nice comment to wake-up to. Thank you. :))

  • "You caught me at a bad time so why dont you piss off" Absolutely my favorite NO line. I use this line alot now ^^

  • Own the vinyl...so awesome...picks me up when I'm feeling down for some reason....why don't you *~*) off

  • awesome lyrics and sound

  • Perfect.

  • Taking my stereo to Nostell priory and relaxing by the lake.

  • reminds me of being a child in Rochdale, peter hook owned a recording studio over the road from where i worked, suite 16.

  • superb , intemporal song

  • Anyone know what synth they used for the lush strings here?

  • it doesn't matter, just enjoy it

  • Ha, I've been listening to this track for 30 years, obviously I enjoy it.

I need to know the synth they used for the string section because I make music and am interested in owning whatever it is.

    I'm guessing it's an Oberheim.

  • think it got nicked in NEW YORK :( lol

  • Saw this performed live in 1984 in the SAVOY theatre in Cork, Ireland, a young fresh-ish faced New Order.

    A good gig.

  • I read the song is about Kraftwerk

  • The Kraftwerk influence is REAL EVIDENT on this one.

Still a beautiful song. They breathed some warmth into Kraftwerk's style.

  • gorgeous

  • Beautiful

    NO forever

  • Timeless,classic,brilliant ,perfect....

    Simply put....."The Dog's Bollocks"!!!!!!

    What a fucking song.!

  • Was it 1986, sparked out on a sofa waiting for rave music? Seemed like yesterday. What its... 2009?....Blimley!!!!!!!!!

  • thanks for largery lion . folk cracked up lafffffing

  • a truely brilliant song, the louder you play this the better it gets. i think i was 13 or 14 when this cameout, just started getting pissed. fun times

  • You were 14 Sav! 1981

  • KW1 indeed.

Listen to Europe Endless by Kraftwerk.

    Sound somewhat similar??!

  • Nice call man.!!!!

You are correct in saying that the two songs do sound very similar.

    Cheers. !!!!!!

  • Good old KW1

Still the track to remind me of exactly WHY I love New Order.

  • "Sign that leads the way. Path we can not take. You've caught me at a bad time, so why don't you piss off."

  • "You caught me at a bad time, so why dont you piss off"

God that so sums up Barny!!

MUCH MUCH MUCH respect for posting this!! What a classic! New order has been my one and only fav band since i was 11 and first heard blue monday!

  • no hearing, or breathing, no movement nor colours just silence. nuff said

great song, my favourite New Order track

  • KIN HELL,HAS MY MAM WOULD SAY,cool.brilliant

    SHAUN H M/P.

shit it's been to long.WOW...shiver's up my spin....

    FEELS LIKE MY 1ST SNIFFFFFFFF,(JOKE); )

    snigger.

  • Ah la la ! Mais quel bande de sacrés expérimentateurs ! Des mecs aussi créatifs et spontanés, dans l'acte de création, ça manque ! Quelle joie de redécouvrir vos superbes expérimentations. REVENEZ VITE !

  • This in an incredible song and thank you very much for putting it up on Youtube. It does bring back the feelings of my teen age years. Not a worry in the world.....

  • why has it only got 16,000 odd views, this song is amazing

  • ...still gets me ..the way it did all those years ago...fuckin' beautiful ....

  • Sounds form in a vacume as much of the world has. This song is timeless as the early Joy Division cut Love will Tear us Apart.

  • You are without doubt a beautiful person who understands exactly what REAL music is all about.JD and NW will live on for ever !!!!

  • So heartfelt and meaningful and then "you've caught me at a bad time so why don't you piss off?" That always cracked me up.

  • One of my favourite New Order tracks, other melancholic songs that incorporated near-classical segments were Elegia and All Day Long.

  • This is a very beautiful and emotional song. It has authenticness, something that few melancholic songs have.

There are so many other great New Order songs that I can't call this their best, simply for that reason. But it is certainly one of their most beautiful

  • I am sitting here with tears streaming down my face. I am ashamed to say that I had forgotten all about this song. This song brings back so many memories of past times.Thank you realitybites for posting this one!!!!!!

    PERFECTION.....

  • I have just posted that 'The Perfect Kiss' is my favourite New Order song of all time. But then there's this, and then there's 'Regret' and then there's 'Lonesome Tonight' the list goes on & on!! Damn you YouTube, damn you!!

  • Hehe. I hear ya!

  • Grüße an Niddihops.

  • Too good for this World ...

    wundervoll

  • This is the best New Order song, by far. Best song ever, by far...

  • I second that! :)

  • Beautiful!!

  • beautiful love hooky's bass in this one, actually love Hooky's bass in all NO JD songs...this sounds so fresh still after how many years 25?

  • i'm 15 again, taking a train passing a new city, emerging from the dark of the woods.. i've travelled still since the early 80's, thank you , keep on moving on folks!

  • im an only child listening in the dark dreaming of escape there is nothing else but silence

  • I'm 16 all over again ,in my room with the lights off listening to the same music that means somthing , thanks for reminding me.

  • Glad to hear that. :))

  • This is best listened to in a totally dark room with the volume up full .....mydantube and oldschoolsuit will know what I'm on about. Sheer fucking class ....Christ, I'm old ....

  • incredible how NO changes and stays so so so melancholic

even the new album gets me into this nostalgic mood

  • nice video. but a montage of all the factory sleeves would be even better

  • I can't tell the difference :/ :P

  • oldschoolsuit....are you sure that was you? It sounds like me!...Oh no it was Sartre not Ibsen; a packet of Gitanes forever in my pocket...

  • Thank-you for posting such a lovely video.

This is my favorite New Order/Joy Division song, it does bring tears to your eyes...

Pity we can't all go back in time to when we first heard it... I was a lanky young man draped in black reading Ibsen for the first time.

Life was full of promise for the bright young things.

Oh well... time marches on, at least we can all have a cup of tea and watch the pretty colors thanks to you.

  • at 00:49, what is that instument? oboe? clarinet? something else? someone please! Tell me!

  • Hi, in Germany it's called "Triola" or "Blasharmonika". I think the english translate is "Mouth Piano". If you want, check out my video from New Order - Your Silent Face at 00:46 , you can see this instrument.

  • form where can I buy this instrument name Triola

  • It is a melodica, Ian Curtis had used it on the Joy Division song Decades and when he passed New Order "inherited" it.

  • Great song! R.I.P Ian

  • suicide song, this song is beatiful, same feeling as the first time i ever heard it

  • The finest song New Order EVER produced.

    Class.

Made me cry when i first heard it and it still does.

  • Even my dad likes this song, I was listening to it and he said "I like that more than anything youve played all night" pretty cool coming from a 67 year old.

  • This song grabs your SOUL and FUCKING HAUNTS YOU TILL YOU CRY!!!!! FUCKING AMAZING!

  • I know it! One of my very favorite songs eva'.

  • Many thanks for putting this on,I agree with the comments before, very Factory, very 80's,nostalgia will get you in the end....sigh

  • new order, the best band of the world, thanks for the song , again again again again again again again again again .......underfulllll man ...I love this band this muzik

  • new order, the best band of the world, thanks for the song

  • joder creo ke nunca habia escuchado esta cancion de new order y eso que tengo la discografia...mu buena por cierto ese xilofono o lo ke sea me encanta!!

    new order forever!

  • El disc és "Power, corruption and lies".

  • el mejor techno pop de todos

  • Why no actual video from New Order?

Shame cause it's one of my favs

  • Because this song was never released as a single and only singles get to have a video.

  • That's crazy eh,rite now there a 100s of wannabes making their own

  • This is grreat, though new order would be a better - much better if Ian Curtis was alive

  • If Ian Curtis was alive, there would be no New Order and this song would never have been released and I for one think that would be a shame because I absolutely LOVE this song. You could also forget about "Temptation", my second favourite song of all time after "Ceremony". I like Curtis, but I'm not sure that I want to trade these wonderful New Order songs.

  • I would trade the songs to have Ian back. Think about what your saying there. Look I love New Order as well. Probably more so than Joy Division, but listen to a song like "Ceremony" and think about what an amazing direction they would've gone in.

  • If JD could produce songs with the same calibre as "Ceremony" for the next 2 albums, then yes I'd trade, but that's a big IF. Except for "Ceremony", my top 5 songs are from New Order and on top of that, I think NO's "7 of "Ceremony" is almost perfect, not even Ian vocal could make it better for me.

  • I like JD's music better than New Order, but I think that it's good that Joy Division sort of had a short run, because sometimes good things should be short and not dragged out. I mean look at bands like Van Halen and the Police. They've been around so long and now they're doing all of these reunion shows, trying to recreate their past work. I wish JD would have stayed around a bit longer, but they might not have been as renown as they are today if they had a longer career.

  • One of their greatest tunes

    Thanks for posting

  • de lo mejor de new order, gracias

  • WHOPPER SONG! Pure genius and totally my favourite New Order song!

  • This song is more than a party and sent shivers down my spine. I love it !!!

  • these are awesome they take me to another place.

  • Fantastic choice of song & your visuals are a great idea. Very 'Factory Records style'. Thanks for posting. This song put a tear in my eye...1987 again...

  • probably the best sony ever imho

  • i meant to say best panasonic ever (you know what i mean) beer fingers :)!!!

  • actually VERY wELL done, the ''testcard'' pallettes suit i think the new order look like some of their sleeves , very intelligent , well done ! more original stuff like this if you get the time in the future , thanks for this

  • Thank you so much. :)
