@GoatBlaat The origin of this tradition is to mark the horses of Saint Jacob. It has to be done without help, with the bare hands. Later ,some of them are only shaved, as is traditional, and freed. The horse with the mark, can´t be captured to make any work , it has to be free, because it belongs to Saint Jacob. They are some variations with places, but clearly all them nicest to the horses than using them on races, bullfighting or support all the weight of the stupidity of some human beings.

This is a Galician tradition, no horse is KILLED or BAD TREATED, just once a year wild horses are locked in a rodeo to have their hair cut out, NO KILLING on here. BULLFIGHTING is a bad tradition, not this one.

this is nothing compared with bullfighting, this is human against horse, they don't use anything else than their strength, they cut the hair from the horses as an old tradition from that small village, after that they set the horses free again to the mountains, bulls, in the other hand, die.
It's something u have to see, this is not really cruel if u compare with other activities and u're OMG WHAT THE FUCK POOR HORSES, check dolphin slaughtering, bullfighting, seal hunting, etc...

2nd. There are more human injured than animals.

Get milk, meat, fertilizers for the fields (very important in that famine ages!), heating natural (the houses used to had 2 stairs. In uptairs were the the people, and in the downstairs were the animals, so the animal´s hot headed to upstairs), pull the carriages, plow fields..

lo que estais viendo forma parte de la cultura gallega, una vez al año se busca a los caballos, que viven en libertad en los montes gallegos, para cortales las crines, marcar a las crias, desparasitarlos... no se intenta hacer daño , solo inmovilizarlos para la rapa ( corte de pelo). y esto solo lo pueden hacerlo los propios del lugar ( puesto que son sus caballos) y no se permite a nadie mas participar. tres hombres por caballo ( tambien participan mujeres, pero hay pocas que se atreven)
