  • So this is what Celes sounds like?.... What lungs.

  • ooooo Maaaariiiiiiaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa! :D

  • Every time Ultros' dialogue comes on screen I read it in Bruce's voice from Family Guy.

  • The best part starts at 9:50...

  • For those unfamiliar with the reasoning behind the Operatic Voice, the technique came about as a result of needing incredible power to project one's voice over not only the full orchestra during all pieces of music no matter how loud in the Opera but also to project your voice to the furthest balcony. And this is a very authentic representation of this style, and how it'd have gone in game if they had the tech to do it.

That said, love the game, loved the scene, and love this rendition.

  • @LunaticChaos Well, one of the biggest mysteries for me has been solved. Thank you for pointing that out :)

  • song made me cry... and I'm a guy!

  • @mitchwebcam Ah, did the same to me when I first played the game.

  • Oh, why do these opera singers have to sound so freakin' DISGUSTING?! Can't they sing in a normal voice? Then this piece would be amazing! But NO! *sigh*

  • @MeingroessterFan .........what?

  • @MeingroessterFan this is an opera, you fool

its not the same as your the catchy pop shit you're used to. this is operatic

  • @StopFlaggingVideos Pop shit? I DESPISE about 95% of this "Music" you get to hear nowadays. But I also despise opera voices.

  • @MeingroessterFan thats too bad then..

  • @StopFlaggingVideos Yep, I know.

  • @MeingroessterFan What is considered a "normal" singing voice? There is no such thing, everyone sings in their own way and opera is the most ancient and renowned art of the voice. Please go elsewhere to comment if you cannot appreciate this sort of talent.

  • @SharksIncorporated TALENT?! You mean, making your voice sound disgusting is a talent? Also, I was long gone when you wrote this comment, so no need to send me away.

  • @MeingroessterFan hahaha you don't think opera is talent? LMAO you need a reality check.

  • @xWatchTheSky19x Yes, I don't see any kind of talent in that. Maybe that's because my definition of "Talent" is reduced to the positive meaning of the word. I seriously can't understand that this kind of singing became so popular. It just sounds horrible. I really don't understand that operas get defended by people that seem to have a good amount of intelligence and good taste.

  • @MeingroessterFan I just can't stop laughing

  • @MeingroessterFan I can say the exact same thing about metal, screams, and growls. It's just a different type of music man. Didn't common sense ever tell you that? If you don't like it or don't appreciate it, don't come down here and insult the composer, the singers, and the song. Just keep it to yourself. ;)

  • @xWatchTheSky19x Yeah, and I also hate every kind of metal "singing". And if I would've known that this is a "real" opera here, I wouldn't have listened to it. I really love the music to this piece, and at least in the GBA version of Final Fnatasy VI, the "singing" sounded just brilliant. I had hoped to get something similar here, but got disappointed.

  • @MeingroessterFan I'm sorry... I don't... Those words. Is it possible to use them in a sentence together like that? You mean to tell me that you've never listened to The Devil Wears Prada? Well, you’ve got to listen to them right now!!! No wonder your so miserable all the time! Here, try this. /watch?v=qE-4znwbvvs listen to Dez Moines!

  • @xWatchTheSky19x What am I supposed to get from that? Thats just boring.

  • @MeingroessterFan Dear diary, still trying to get this guy to.. like metalcore or opera.. no food.. no water.. losing hope.. all is lost.. this will be my last entry. try.. Underoath - Paper Lung ..*dies*

  • @xWatchTheSky19x Erm... hey? You alright? Hello?

  • @MeingroessterFan hey forget the Ddevil Wears Prada and try Epica, they are true Symphonic Metal.

  • @Septimuspain Just checked them out. I'm liking it (:

  • @xWatchTheSky19x yay :)

They picked a fitting name, they did. :)

  • @MeingroessterFan and you are perfectly entitled to that opinion.i like it as long as i don't listen to the silly lyrics

  • @MeingroessterFan

    Do you have ears?

This is absolutely beautiful, uncultured brat.

  • @DukeUuito Yes, I have ears. I just hate opera voices, I never said anything about the music or the lyrics, because those are indeed beautiful.

  • @MeingroessterFan I'm actually with you there. Love the music, love the lyrics, and I must say it takes talent to sing like that but my thing (with the soprano voices mostly) is that they warble SO MUCH; I know it's part of it but I personally get annoyed by it after a bit. Still love opera regardless.

  • must be raining .. there seems to be something in my eyes

I really should cover my lap top so it doesn't get rained on

  • A masterpiece

  • Ugh, I seriously need to see Distant Worlds/Uematsu live. But they tour dates/locations are very few and sporadic...I can only hope...

  • @swojguy You really should. It's worth every dollar you spend on it... especially if you go VIP... and if you know how to speak Japanese tell them to make a remake of FFVII (PS3) and FFVI for 3DS

  • @MrLucasrn amen, brother.

  • "In the darkness you're my starlight" <3

  • Ultros definitely disliked this.

  • I don't know... It's just not the same without Ultros trying to brutally murder the leading Female Role from the rafters.

  • god....wonderful

  • I love the part from 9:28 to 10:24 the most. I like it because Ralse, after his defeat, doesn't weep over his loss or throw curses at Draco, but tells Draco to take good care of Maria. I like it because even though he stole Maria from Draco, Ralse selflessly loved Maria to the end. Kind of makes him seem like less of a bad guy. That and I just love the person who does Ralse's voice.

  • Words cannot express!

  • O_O The ending of the play revealed.

  • After the scene, I started imagining that all of Celes' lines are delivered in an operatic manner. LOL

  • 0:37 to 1:07 is so simple but beautiful!

  • @calahoon22 thumbs up

  • how on earth's name can this have one dislike! madness.

  • @SamYungOfficial Kefka disliked it.

  • my favourite part is around 9:25 - 10:25. Heard this live and was blown away.

  • I hate opera but love this?

  • @mash1581 Thats final fantasy for you!

  • I cry every time. ;( Blast my eyes. I would love to see this performed to a T. With costumes and backdrops etc.

  • @oceanhell2 ill consider helping you fund that O_o

  • Excellent

  • someone's hand slipped and accidentally hit dislike

  • this is amazing! im glad the story was completed

  • @andreee14 in the US, the tile # was 3 . but those are same game.

  • @mosrond until the GBA release as VI

  • @lunethbilford and PlayStation port.

  • i have waited for so many years to finally hear this sang and it brought tear to my eyes thank you so much

  • I used my third save slot just so I could replay this part whenever I wanted :)

  • @drunktarutaru You sir, are a genius.

  • it's the very best version i ever heard

  • I'm not so big a fan of this extended version. I think it was better when you were left with the melody, fake instruments and simulated vocals, and had to fill in the gaps with your imagination.

It's a nice piece, but bringing it to reality like this destroys what made it wondrous, IMO.

On the other hand, it's great to see this isn't some dusty, forgotten relic. I miss the days when creativity wasn't outsourced and given a backseat.

Licensed music can kiss my ass.

  • @NecrophageonIII

I see what you're saying, but you have to admit, I couldn't imagine a better ending to this piece! It really is amzing, imo.

  • NOSTALGIA...AND TEARS

  • @MuseDuCafe Lol...you actually sound like you think that ALW and Les Mis are operas. Their not. The only thing I can compare this too is an actual opera...Not a real one, mind you, but an opera none-the-less since the instrumental parts also act like a part of the play.

On another note, what Uematsu has managed to accomplish with this piece is amazing. I want to play VI even more now.

  • I remember when I was a kid playing this scene. I didn't real the lines so I didn't know them but the scene was magically nonetheless.

  • beautiful song... but for some reason i felt the need to stomp on rats or punch a purple octopus in the face the whole track

  • @dhaosthe7 You know what's funny? Ultros has no real purpose to the storyline. I mean, even look at the Final Fantasy Wiki. NO PURPOSE. He's just a pissed off magical octopus.

  • @Dimbark No, your wrong. His purpose is for him to get his ass kicked for ruining the opera

  • good except for the fact that the female vocalist overdid that vibrato :/

  • So, so beautiful...

  • Nobuo Uematsu said this was one of the pieces he liked best on an interview... I don't agree... but still this is a beautiful display of his genious!

  • Movement at 9:15 is the best!

  • You should of heard it in Atlanta at the May concert. The vocalists were absolutely amazing, much better than these ones (not to say these vocalists suck, it's just a comparison).

  • 8:13 - 9:15 is so badass.

  • I never cared for the way opera singers always vibrate their voices. It's so hard to understand them, and it sounds much better when not done so.

  • What a stew pastiche of quasi-classical and musicals and lounge music this is.

A soprano with a wobble so wide its hard to tell which pitch you're meant to hear as the note, and woo woo singing from behind a wood door sounding tenor. Sounds like a bad broadway attempt to amalgm Andrew Lloyd Weber and Les Miserables. Weird Weird Weird, and someone actually got a check for writing this.

  • @MuseDuCafe /whoosh

  • @Codename46 / Indeedy!

  • @MuseDuCafe Elitist snobs like you disgust me. Jealous much? You should be. Nobuo Uematsu has accomplished more in his professional life than you ever will.

  • @94mav98 mediocre music and horrible performance disgust me, but you would not be able to discern what those are, it seems. What the F---- is crazy about youtubers is they expect nothing but gushing fall all over yourself compliments on what is posted, their own work or others. Not a very real world. Delete whatever comments you like so you can preserve the illusion everyone thinks this stuff is just beautiful. There's nothing to envy here.

  • @MuseDuCafe Like I said, you are an elitist snob. Nobuo Uematsu has brought joy to millions of people from around the world with his music, and he is one of the most well known, beloved and respected composers in his genre. That's more than you'll ever be.

  • @MuseDuCafe I don't like the vocalists... but I love this piece.. remember this was done for a game... a very very old game... and this gave every character depth.. thats the magic uematsu does... and nobody else does it better =)

  • @MuseDuCafe You say youtubers as if you aren't one... odd.

Besides, last i checked, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. These people like it, you don't; deal with it. It was your choice to listen to this. Do you go to a concert filled with fans only to yell about how you think the music is trash? Constructive critiques are another matter. You are being plain rude.

  • @MuseDuCafe It made sense in the original context: the whole scene lasted just a few minutes in the game, so you couldn't have a full opera, and the latter part was *improvised* by characters who accidentally crashed onto the stage while trying to protect the singer from being abducted.

But I agree, I don't like this singer's voice. She really overdoes the vibrato.

  • dis shit need to be auto toned and sung by someone gud lyk lil wayne and den dis shit gon be poppin

  • @yasorachi Please learn to spell properly, if you are going to comment, at least take the time and not sound like 11 year old trying to sound cool.

  • @uzuki54 'an' 11 year old

  • @uzuki54 bro...I was just messing around o.o

  • "The next line is..."

I DON'T CARE WHAT THE NEXT LINE IS! JUST LET ME LISTEN TO IT! Why the hell did Square have to make this interactive!? This was difficult on my first attempt trying to frikking keep up with Draco.

  • why is that other guy in there?

  • Ha~ Cool~ it's in English~

I was expecting the chorus to be in Latin... which probably would've sounded way cooler~

But this does make more sense to have the chorus in the language of the region that the song is actually playing in. Given that's how the lyrics appeared on-screen when you played the game. Otherwise, the text for the opera would've been in Latin in every region of the game.

  • Even if you have never played the game, you would be dead if not to love this!

  • Positively the best FF song ever in my humble opinion. And a darn good opera too!

  • this song made me play final fantasy for the first time......thumps up if your the same

  • Thanks to this music, I became a lyric singer. And now, when I have to work on a piece of opera, I can not help but think that...

This... This is a master piece of art that a lyric singer MUST sing at last once in his/her very life!

I do swear I shall sing this in an official FF concert, and if I could, I wish I could share this sound of Fantasy with the whole world.

  • cant help but think of moulin rouge towards the end.

  • Awesome, just awesome.

    Vraiment magnifique!

This song is beauti.... Uh? Wait a second....

    ......

WHERE IS THE GRAND FINAL?! ><

C'est l'opéra complet, certes, mais j'aurais voulu le grand final... :/

  • O.o; ENGLISH???

  • Holy crap. The music is awesome, but Draco is a LOUSY singer. Seriously? You put all this time and money into this, and you got some pansy-arse crappy tenor masquerading as a baritone? At least Maria has some serious opera chops.

  • @danyetman I thought he did extremely well! What was wrong with his voice?

  • @TAGKikiAyame Poor vibrato, extreme tuning woogage...quite frankly his voice was WEAK. Again, the piece is written for a BARITONE, and this guy's a tenor. It's just wrong.

  • My God...a tear literally ran down my cheek at the end...

  • Watching the 16 bit sprites while I listened to this made it difficult not to lol.

  • I always loved Celes Theme better than the operatic version. Wish there was an orchestral version out there. It may just be the band nerd inside me, but I'm certain this piece is beautiful enough to not need words to be loved...

  • @FINALFANTASYMUSIC111 I dunno, I think there is something to be appreciated in the lyrics and vocal. But I agree that vocals are not always needed.

  • I went to the concert when this was on San Diego and I remember I cried with this song, never even played the game. Just wonderful.

  • @WhitebloodK FFVI the best in the series.

  • @WhitebloodK So lucky. I'm forced to choose whether I want to listen to Dancing Mad or this... Chose Dancing Mad in the end but still sorely disappointed I won't be able to hear this.

  • @WhitebloodK preach!

  • Great upload ! thanks a lot

  • i love this opera... i remember playing the scene on final fantasy III for super nintendo

  • @pouleto1 I remember hating it as a kid and now it's like.... pretty amazing. Although I absolutely despise the female's extreme vibrato fixation...

  • @pouleto1 isn't from final fantasy VI ?

  • This song rules! XD
