  • @3:00 OMG! :D

  • It really is too bad they don't allow pilots to take the aircraft to their limits. otherwise This particular aircraft would be highly sought after for future 5.5-6th gen design concepts.

  • thats one sexy looking plane

  • flippin heck thats loud its good though its maneuvers look flawless i can imagine being there watching it for real

  • No these jets are in the prototype stage those wings can stand extreme maneuvers that's why they have the shape they do, cut the air like a knive to cut the force being pushed on them. with these jets force is pushed on them in one way. from front to back as long as those wings have a small line up in front they can hold together. The russians are very advanced in what they do. Those jets are going to replace the aging MIGs

  • @horsefan1994 They're not in the prototype stage, these were just technology demonstrators, the Russians never intended to build series of this plane.

  • that shape as is just amazing, looks like a giant upper body of a man spreading his arms flying through the sky (or darth vader)

  • nice little routine. low-speed abilities of this plane are amazing. Real 1-on-1 dogfights are typically under 200 knots, where no move pulls over 9 g's. The planes that can maintain those tight low-speed turns and climbs dominate, like f15 and su27 in generation 4. It looked like it was doing maybe 60 kts on that one turn, and that one pass had an AOA of maybe 40 deg. I've seen the su-37 do better though. The new Russian fighter is to be a combo of the 37 and 47. Can't wait to see it.

  • Being manoeverable is all very well, but who has dog fights any more? Wouldn't the main advantage be last ditch missile avoidance?

  • Well for that matter, how often do air-superiority meet at all? Rarely on equal terms, and usually in the middle east where it's all old planes. Mostly they face ground fire. Nobody much bothered with dogfights after world war 1, then they became a critical factor in world war 2 A big su or f-15 has plenty of cm and few missiles, and yes, they dodge well. that's why an air force has to have dogfighters. But I think pak fa is to be more of a strike escort, like f22, than a 1-1 figher.

  • That looks much better than some US-jets...this is my favorite jet

  • If I saw that black angel coming down at me from the sky I would shit myself.

  • lets not mention ak47 vs m16. Ak line has other guns that actually match the specs of m16.

I still think that the human factor(pilot) will be the decisive factor. although it doesn't hurt to have Berkut. Which is way faster then your daddy's camry. ;-)

  • Probably this is the most advanced fighter ever seen . For an amateur eye, may be not very special... Trough the history , we have seen many times situations when even seeing the weapons of the enemy ,we were not able to estimate the real potential of those ....things.

So for the unadvised please don't post any more stupid comments when i'm shore you don't know your names with the ID's in your hads :)

  • Terminator is way Better!

  • You know that theres only one right?

  • 2 47s and 2 37s right

  • 2, wiki said 1 terminator, maybe edited

  • There was 1 SU-37 Terminator.. but it was reverted to "SU-35" standard aparently..

  • both the terminator and the berkut are just prototypes, you're right though the terminator is more maneuverable at low speeds whch is critical. There's video on youtube of the 37 performing slow vertical loops and ending them with a COBRA from 45 degrees below horizontal, and using its nozzle vectors to perform a flat-spin with the plane virtually level. the new PAK fighter set to flight-test in 2009 is using the best tech from both the 37 and 47. It'll be a great plane.

  • And don't forget it will use some features that are tested now on Su-35 (i'm talking here about the latest and last version in su-27 family).

The Su-35 had it's first flight not so long ago in the beginning of 2008 and a second one (other paintjob) some months later.

I think it will also use the OLS of the MiG-35 presented at the airshow in Bangalore. Or a more advanced version. Anyway i'm not here to speculate, let's wait and see...

  • Beautiful aircraft.

  • politics, pissing contests, and meaningless statistics aside: that is one WICKED looking bird.

shut up and watch the video youtube.

  • Wrong. The forward swept wings and inner canards allow the Berkut to excel in maneuverability, even in supersonic speeds. The wings also gives the Berkut to quickly change its angle of attack. The engines also incorporate thrust vectoring, which improves pitch and yaw. Much of the fuselage and wings are made of composite materials.

Know your knowledge before you post such a comment.

  • Thanx 4 shutting that guy up. I hate when ppl knock on things they know nothing about.

  • it cant go in supersonic speeds its not that fast the F22A raptor and F15 strike eagle are a lot faster

  • What are you on, seriously?

  • Also it does have stealth. The FSW design actually helps reduce radar signature from the front hemisphere. Just agreeing with FOOSAG.

  • This plane will be very hard to catch anyway if it is seen.

  • f22 kills this jet and its the su 47 isnt stealthy its only good in manuverabilty or however u spell it

  • no its not stealth for shit

  • I agree

  • Now thats a insane fighter jet, if I was Russian and part of its goverment I would never sell such tech to any other country!

  • "The largest part of U.S. GDP is garnered from weapons sales; it's something we do very well"

Jeez, what can I say to that? Just cry I guess.

Buy the way, jerk off, you don't have ANY MONOPLY on being a proud American. AND I DON'T have to apologize either for pointing out what's WRONG with MY country. NOT just yours but MINE too.

    Blind patriotic jerk!

  • Rah Rah Rah, God I love American private enterprise. ESPECIALLY IN IRAQ. What does the US have to SELL to the world. ARMS. The largest arms dealer in the world RAH RAH RAH.

And we ration health care in the US.

  • rofl... usa needs european industry, but money? WTF XD!

  • The Berkut has all but the radar, and can do all what the raptor can. Plus, it is not fully stealth. It is 'semi stealthy' which means it is not impervious to missile attack. WHat drives it's price sounds cool but is watered down severely.

  • Metal fatigue? Look at the A10 Warthog. Same thing, and they rebuild them. And some of the F111's too. And forward swept is easier to build and offerers same manuverability. Plus, it's less expensive then the Raptor. And, come on, it's fucking russia!! Since when can they afford this!? Give them credit. and... well, it just looks more deadly.

  • How can it fly like this with those wings and not fall apart into pieces...great video!

  • Just proves thrust vectoring, though cool, costs more and does the same as air canards or forward swept wings. To the people of america, unless the air force finally gets it, we are screwed! Like allways, we're behind. And waste money on meaningless aircraft, though new. The F-14 shoulda lived longer than it's half assed brother, the Hornet.

  • lol look at all the flame comments aren't people so nice to each other now days?

anyways the SU-47 would be just about evenly matched against the raptor since itself uses siome stealth tech. It also has a swoop wing design that allows for greater mobility since it does not has thrust vectoring like the raptor.

  • how badass would that be if you were on your way to school or work...look up and see a few of these things owning the sky.

  • americans think they got the best plains

i think they would be scared in battle agains su47

  • Well, yes, if you are referring to the "Great Plains" in Middle America. If we're talking jets, the F-22 would kindly offer this giant coffin its ass on a platter.

  • America is not even able to build the f22 alone .. they need british german and italian money and engineers.

Russia tho builds it planes all alone.

  • owenbreon = idiot.

USA needs european money ? HAHAHAHAHA.

  • hahaha your the idiot not owen, your just to blind and ignorant to know it

  • they build it with their own hands at palmdale .

  • too bad russin avionics are garbage and their engines flame out, and how about its radar cross section? probably the same as a TU-95 lol russians.... hahaha eagles stil own the sky and raptors eat russian pigeons like candy!

  • Nice comment. It tells what kind moron you are!

  • How's the top speed on this beauty?

  • 2200

  • 2.21match

  • Realy?!?! Mach 2.21 from a forward swept wing? Ok, what is the cruising speed?

  • however well or not so well it would've performed in combat, this is certainly the most beatiful and complete jetfighter-design ever!

  • Life imitating art imitating life...

    Foxbat inspires Firefox inspires Berkut?

  • 2sdmoo: sorry man , but you are wrong, Russia will present 2 5 generation fighters next year, one of them with 1 engine, and another with 2. Lack of funding was in mid 90's. Today is 2006. Wake up.

  • yeaah and X-29 copied from early german designs :)

  • wow that jet looks awesome i want one for my birthday =)

  • Avesome, it is a very cool airplane with its forward swept wings

  • That came from wikipedia's "dogfight" entry. ;)

  • Even in the jet age, modern air-to-air combat often develops into dog fights. Contrary to some common misconceptions, guided missile attacks occurring beyond visual range seldom occur, because rules of engagement usually require visual identification of the target as hostile.

  • Manuverability doesn't matter anymore. Modern missiles can fly circles around any plane still limited by having a human pilot. The Berkut is an impressive but without functional stealth, it will have no place in the next century.

  • The mystery of the berkut is, why is it painted in russia's naval colors, and why does it bear the insignia of the former soviet union? The berkut can most likely outperform any other fighter, with the exception of the maybe sukhoi's su-35 terminator. The Berkut's upgrade, the S-32, was an experimental variant that fearured thrust vectoring, inward canted stabilizers, and improved avionics. too bad development on the version was cancelled...

  • Naval colors? Probably naval show. SU insignia? Our air force insignia hasn't changed, we still put red stars every there we can stick em.

  • A W E S O M E

  • swept forward wings are so cool

WE had an experimental jet with them

but never put it into production

X-29 I think it was called

  • This plane is so beatiful and the movie was probably shot b4 it changed its name and stealth technology isn't that much of a waste i mean when was the last time you guys shot down a b2 spirit or a f-117.

  • One F-117 was shot down over Serbia in 2000 by a Soviet SAM from the 60's...

  • It might pay to learn something about forward swept wings and low observables technology before you all sound off about them guys.

  • First off, this design is going into production with Russia and India jointly funding it as the PAK-FA after rejecting the Mig 1.42. Also it does have thrust vectoring, and its made of RCA composites so it does have stealth, just cos its not painted all black and isnt shaped like an American plane doesnt mean it doesnt have stealth..

  • they did completed -Plazma--Shield and they got already--This is very complicated aerodynamics technology--u need a big brain for this--and here not only pilots -skills--also--itself theplane must withstand the G forces--allkind of shit

  • Stealth does really work, but it's kind of cowardly way to fight.

  • so is the gun... compared to the sword.

  • Dudes, wait til the Russians complete development on plasma stealth, a stealth technology that doesn't require a special shape, like the F-117 or F-22. Then they'll really kickass. And whatever you all say, this plane just looks so completely more badass than any western competition.

  • The development has already been completed, such a device has been offered for export since 98 I think, might be 99 I haven't been reading about this stuff in a while.

  • simply awsome......

  • What a beautiful plane. Russian planes sure are magnificant.

  • And .. ur F22 it is a copy Mig 29 ,but F 22 look kind of high tech..

  • Dear Americans ,i have a quastion ... What is this -stealth ?? For us ..Russians ur stealth it is not secret ! Maiby u are can use ur stealth technologies in the war with countries like afganistan, irak or Zimbabwe )))) but for us ur stealth is is just beautiful name

  • --LOOK-GUYS----this plane is awsome--your stealthis nothing--they got--much better things--like --plasma--shield---that is gonna kick ur ass

  • From 16.8.2001? This S-37 Berkut is HUGH and flys like lumbering cargo plane... no trust vectoring, lots of exhaust smoke and obviously no stealth. Seems the SU-37 terminator could fly circles around it, and the F22 would eat it for lunch and disappear from radar.

However, I must admit Russian pilots are simply krazy... they smoke, drink vodka and don't wear G-suits like their western counterparts. But they don't need G-suit because they wear speedos.

  • Is too bad they got no more fundings for this project... the maneuverability of this plane is friggin scary O.o

This plane could have ruled the skies!

  • Yes ..stealts technology it is nothig for countries like Russia or China .. we can hit anoather US stealh technologys and every body know that.

  • Carlos, I have a question for you. Can you shoot down what you cannot see? Anyways, nice vid.

  • RedSol, your stealth technology does not work. Modern radard can track it. It's just a waste of money (except you are going against countries like Iraq, North Korea, etc.)

  • This was suppose to be Russia's 5th gen fighter, infortunately the Soviet Union collaspe and the lack of funding had killed the program.

It would give the F22 a run for the money, but to bad.

  • Notice i little runway it needs to take off. This is an advantage of forward swept wings.

  • yeah but the joint strike fighter will be heavy i think i mean it does have that huge fan in the middle but i guess cant be helped but any way if uve got stealth going fast is not a major concern.

  • The plane is designed to demonstrate high angles of attack. The same concept was test by NASA in the mid to late 80s. Swept wing means high drag and slower speed but higher angle of attack and much greater manueverability. And the F-22 is not as great as it could but Joint Strike Fighter is the one to look out for. First fighter to incorporate true stealth technology. A engine exhuast that swivles in the Marine Corp VSTOL version to replace the Harrier.

  • "slower speed"

    pff, uninformed people ...

    Su-47 Berkut

    # Maximum speed:

    # Sea level: Mach 1.1 (1,400 km/h, 870 mph)

    # Normal operating altitude: Mach 2 (2,500 km/h, 1,550 mph)

    F-22 Raptor:

Maximum speed: > "Mach 2 class" (USAF), >~Mach 2.42, ~1,600 mph (according to Paul Metz, test pilot) (~2575 km/h) at high altitude

  • The F-22 is also known as the constliest airplane. With recent indications that the government might not purchase the estimated numbers. If one thing the US planes do is jack up their price for all their publicity.

  • its not stealth

  • the su-37 terminator is better than the su-37 berkut its just a tech demonstrator has no combat capability althoughtit is a nice plane

  • the first country to have this get would be india due to the joint partnership deal.... this is also a stealth aircraft... id ont know if it has plasma stealth though?

  • I agree with mentar. this jet is limited by the pilot. and yes the US is behind, the US has the raptor f22 but it would not stand long against the berkut, well russians are great in aerospace, they where the first in space and now they have a better jet fighter than the US. The russians have doen it again.

  • The g-load exerted on the pilot is the limiting factor for this plane in terms of agility. It would make a good UAV platform, where its manoeuvrablity can be utilised to the full extent.

  • Awesome plane, very powerful and unmatched by anything the US has in terms of manueverability. Too bad it's just a test bed and the ruskies can't afford to bring it into serial production :(

  • the su-37 terminator has this beat on the manuverability and speed aspect but lacks over all beauty unlike this plane
