Living life as the ultimate work of art was the core of the Renaissance, and I have to say that Thomas Morton of Merrymount was one true foundational American ancestor who really seemed to understand and live what TM talks about here....an actual laughing hero, "America's First Rascal" living large beside the tiny little Pilgrims! I knew I was on to something.. when he said that novelty might be where the density of connectedness is high.. I have been meditating on that idea for almost a year!
Life isn’t divided into genres. It’s a horrifying, romantic, tragic, comical, science-fiction cowboy detective novel … with a bit of pornography if you're lucky
Here's a good trick i find: imagine you are a clone of yourself. All the bad shit in your life happened to the original you, but YOU can walk away scot free, examining this new world.
Clone yourself.
be free.
with a fresh heart.
if it sounds silly, play around with it, change it, until the idea suits you. Then do it.
This is just what I have begun to do. I have decided to stop being the passive victim of other people's bad trips and personality disorders. It's time to apply the brake and take a firm line. Those assholes' own lives are unmitigated trainwrecks, and yet they have the temerity to try to impose their wills upon me and make me a character in their bad sitcom. My dad has tried to make me "the disturbed son," and my wife has typecast me as "the incompetent loser husband." Fuck them. It's over.
life's somehow like that fairytale where the knight has to face the dragon to save the princess.Role opeenings are for the knight or the princess.Choose.You can face the "dragon",or wait for someone else to come save ya..
this kinda reminded me a long-ago private joke with my sis'.Every time somethin' bad happened to us,we blamed the "writer".Somehow helped.Like makin' it bearable by some stupid paranoid train o'thought..
Now I think we're all the star in our own act,but we should realize our act overlaps with those of other people.and there, they're their own stars.
@TylerMcManus1 Before you write your novel, you need to brush up on the rules of capitalization, punctuation, and use of spaces. However, you are to be commended for your correct use of the words, there, they're, and their. Congratulations! --The Grammar Police
@luv2bud Oh,well,I usually make some mistakes when it comes to contractions and that stuff.Capitalizacion and use of space..Hmm,I think I was a wee bit high when I wrote this. And about punctuation I think it's 'cause in my language it's a bit different.I don't think I'll ever get it better.Sorry. :-)
@TylerMcManus1 No problem. I live in a country where Spanish is spoken, so I know what it's like to struggle with a second language. Actually you're doing better than a lot of native English speakers with your correct use of there, they're, and their. The rules of capitalization, punctuation, and use of spaces are fairly consistent among many languages, so maybe it's just the informality of this forum that has led you to be a bit . . . relaxed. What's your first language?
@luv2bud Spanish. But slightly different than yours.Mine's from Spain.Thing is I never learned English studyin'.I learnt it at the pub and at home. That's why I use too much slang sometimes. And'bout punctuation,it's different. If I punctuated in Spanish as I do in English,it'd be fine.In English they use less commas,I guess,'cause it hasn't been the first time somebody told me I use'em too much.
Visualisation is the key. Asking for something is a law of nature and something will be given back to you. Be carreful of what you whish for because that will maybe happen with few side effects not expected. Just be carreful and visualise everything like you want.
If our lives are a novel than i wanna know who is the writer.. Or if life is a play( an act) than i wanna know who or what is backstage. I also want to know why all these people think they can assume they might know whats backstaged based on their entire existance onstage. they think that there knowledge of the stage can somehow be projected backstage to understand the behind the scenes interworkings and you know what makes life tick....
I don't think it's a disempowering view of reality at all. The only reason someone would is because they want life to have some kind of objective meaning. But it doesn't and at the end of the day we have to face our own reality. I reccomend Alan Watts videos on 'does life have to be meaningful' and 'is it serious' for a better explanation of what I'm talking about.
I know how you feel, man. I am trying to figure out how to make my life better. It is a complex challenge. But at the same time it is up to me to make it better...but shit, it's hard...
@ohwell121 Oh yes you may be right that your life sucks in your mind but keep in mind you are writing your novel. You are the author!! You reap what you sow. I learned this the hard way. It has benefited me so far taking the lead and I am now writing my novel and not letting another author write my ending. Keep your head up!!
@ohwell121 no you don't, if you belived in what terrence says that the goal is to become your own author of your story and have any damn ending you want. your comments reeks of poor me and victimization thats why i dont belive you really get what he is talking about, your the author and right now your playing the "my life sucks character" play the my life is what i make it, youll be happier.
Holy shit that's inspirational. It reminds me of what the world looked like when things still seemed possible. When I could dream without people telling me no. Everything around me is so negative and no one cares to give kind speeches such as these. Thanks, it really is a gift.

How does a 10 minutes Terrence Mckenna lecture overpower, overshine, and effortlessly overtake my daily 5 hours of college lecture...? Hmmm >:)
