@avantgarde120 nice, I was sorta bummed that Yamaha did not redo the FZ1 for 2011 like I was hearing, would of been nice to see it with that crossplank in it. But it's a good bike, I'll be taking it to the track in a week
Nice FZ man. I jus bought an 09 and out of the 5 streetbikes i have owned, i see no reason to ever sell this one. Ride safe and keep the shiny side up. -Mrjames6891
@Pittimus84 true indeed. Was the PC worth it? I had my bike dynoed at 4800 altitude and my fuel mixture is near perfect just a little rich cause of slip on
@MrJames6891 for the mods I have on my bike the PC is a MUST. You can get away with a s/o or any other single performance mod, after that you are probably going to need a PC, I have a aftermarket A/F, intake stack, gutted cat, A/F exhaust, and have my 2ndary flies safety wired open, so I need it.
Do you have the FCE mod done or see any need to do it? IIRC Yamaha got rid of the throttle snatch for the 07's by slowing down the rate at which the flies opened. Did you notice any change in throttle response when you wired them open?
@Kodiak31415 nope never did the FCE mod IMO it doesn't justify the costs of the kit. I'm not sure about throttle response with the flies opened vs stock, it's been so long since i did the mod and i never looked back once i did it. I don't think there really is any difference in actual response, but combined with the other mods i have noticed a large power increase over stock
@jpwdesigns I've never had any issues with the 016's, I am however trying the new Dunlop Q2's at my next track day, the price was too good to turn down, and I read some good reviews on the tires about racers putting down serious lap times in Advanced group with NESBA
Nice ride man, we have some similiar tastes in aftermarket parts and of course the fact we both own a Yami, I actually just installed my Puig Z-Racing today, did a "How To" on it... Might post it shortly, I also have my Shoguns coming in the mail :D,you mind if I post my walkaround of my bike under your vid?,I appreciate you sending your vid response...Peace!
at 80 mph in 6th gear, what would you say your rpms are at? lol you said the paint is all jacked up. LOL. When this first started I was like oh damn thats nice!!!
I used to have the Gen 1 FZ1 and liked it a lot. Thinking about getting a Gen 2 (07 or 08). I've heard a lot about the EFI issues with throttle on/off, a hesitation. Did you have this issue and if so, how did you remedy it?
You think I got power on this, the new BMW 1000RR is supposed to make over 190bhp stock , that's more than a Hayabusa stock with a motor that is 999cc's. The black is here to stay
With all the tuning work & upgraded parts you've got on this FZ, would u say it's now just as 'peaky' as the older R1 or has the work you've done added extra midrange grunt?
The FZ is the best looking naked to me, but the motor isn't as grunty as the bandit. That was the only drawback with this bike as compared with the older FZ & other nakeds - it didn't have the full power of the R1 nor did it have the midrange grunt that u would think a re-tuned 1k motor would have.
I've never rode an R1 so I have no comparison. I will say that a guy on the FZ1OA forum is getting 150 RWHP out of his 07 FZ, and has a 10.01 at 137 quartermile. Yamaha may not have given it the full power of the motor, but they by all means did not leave out getting all that power from it through mods. The map I am running now has all the grunt for the low end, and power all through the range, I am not complaining about it at all. I think it will turn into a RatFighter bike half street/ratbike
It seems as tho he FZ has the kind of potential that the Bandit has always had. People tune the hell outta the bandit for all kinds of stuff - street, drags, turbo, supercharge, nitrous. U name it & it can be done to the bandit. I've not really been following the FZ scene because it's a lot smaller I suppose. Glad to see a vlogger retuning the new FZ =)
Well the FZ1 has been around since 2001 I think, then for 2006 they came out with the GenII FZ1 like I have, were all waiting to see what the GenII will bring next year. Yeah the bike is smaller than a bandit, I had est rode this and a 07 bandit 1250s, the Bandit is just too big for my liking, I'm 5'6 and the bandit at the time was too much bike mass for me. The FZ does have more stock HP over a bandit, around the same torque stock. It's all personal preference in the end.
Yeah there are many people on my FZ1 forum that gave bought the FZ1 as a 2nd bike for practical purposes, or have it and a normal crotch rocket for like the track or whatever. The new map I got from the guy in my forum is nice, power wheelie's like nothing in 1st now, got up to 169mph no issues. So I'm impressed with it. Yeah I'll stick to the BMC filter, not trying to ruin the motor. But for a literbike the FZ1 is pretty cheap, and cheap to mod also.
this is a beautiful bike, i am really keen on FZ1s. it's like they took an R1 and made it much more usable but still able to be tracked or ride twisties well.
I've seen that before with K&N filters, even with the correct part number.
I'm an amatuer "tuner" when it comes to japanese cars anyway, but one thing i'd be scared to do is load a map from another car onto my own without being able to check the a/f ratio and for knock at least.
I love the FZ1. I'm probably either going to get this or the FZ6. What's the gas mileage like?

@motoriderification bone stock around 40 mpg highway with what i have done on it right now 35ish highway.

ANY bike will upshift and downshift when no force is on the trans gears. Not a first and you dont need a quickshifter for that...

First gen fz1 are better.
-The original airbox opening is small for a reason. For perfect fueling down low and to increase torque.
-Lost the GI joe voice
-Pirelli ROSSO, like ross-oh....
-Two brothers exhaust are shit
-You DO NOT need upgraded suspension. Its just damn fine for you, I looked at your tire wear.
-Aftermarket exhaust are so dumb/annoying/cause people to not like us.
Soungs good though.

What a beast of a bike. I couldn't imagine owning a liter bike. Even the 600 has enough power for me. Bike looks amazing with the blacked out look.
