  • You're probably right. I will have to remember that next time I go fishing there.

  • If u catch the size 4 to 6 inches pike minnow.. they are hell of a bait to use for stripers! Guaranteed a 30+ inches stripe!

  • you guys know that you can cut a chunk of meat off of those fish and put them on your hook and they are SUPER good bait for rainbow trout. they are where I live anyway

  • same thang. new name. fun fish to catch.

  • that ain't no pike minnow!!!!!!...that's call a squaw fish.....if you don't believe me then research it up in google...

  • @leevwj4 pike minnow = squaw fish

  • I caught one of these a while ago same size I always release my fish except that one everyone should kill these little fuckers because they eat the shit out of all the other fish in the entire fucking river especially young salmon smolts so I knew that although I felt like shit for killing the poor thing I saved a hell of a lot more fish

  • its a california sucker fish and they are bottom feeders and props on catching one...

  • back in oregon we use to sell these for 2-5 bucks anybody no if they let you sell em in sac or near sac

  • Caught a pike minnow today in a small creek in the central valley of California on a buzz bait. It was about 2ft long and more of a silver color.

  • @EndureTheBeheading you should put a picture up. interesting music btw. very old school, but it still sounds good.

  • @cyborg006 Wish i got a picture of it. Im sure I will get another one soon and will have a camera next time. Oh and thanks, I forgot i was on my bands channel.

  • ye i caught a 6 pound pike by cal expo with a 3/8 oz kastmaster lols to bad there not good for eating lols

  • is it a good time to go fishing there now?

  • i caught a 40 striper using a squaw fish that big near sac state sweet vid keep catching more fish n put up more vids o0o yea kill those pike minnows cause they're eat everything in river causing a population drop on all fishes

  • The squawfish (no named pikeminnow to be P.C.) is one of the only native fish left in the valley. It should be treated well. The stripers aren't native and, in my opinion, they aren't worth keeping around. The squawfish can get up to 30 pounds! It's actually a giant predatory minnow that only lives in California. It's special. Sad no one knows about it.

  • the mokulmie rive north on hwy 88 at clements park has alot of those you can see them in the water

  • Generally speaking the Howe and Watt section of the American River has many of these. Large earthworms, size 7/0 hooks, and a carolina rig is all you need. There may be other ways to catch them, but this method generally worked for me in the past.

  • @cyborg006 7/0? Damn, that's a pretty big hook.

  • Which part of the American River did you go to? I am trying to fish for these fish also. I really would like to know.

  • Its a squawfish Dude.

  • same thing fear :\

  • squawfish??? sacramento pike minnow are squawfish LOL the original name for it is sacramento pike minnow =P

  • Squawfish is the original name. It was an important food for the Indians. They tried to force a name change because 'squaw' is supposed to be politically incorrect, though I don't think any real Indians were too concerned. Neat fish.
