Watching these old girls work brings back some good memories, my dad used to run a northwest shovel in a gravel pit when I was a kid, I used to sand in the cat walk while he would run it and just watch him run the sticks. Great video, wish there were more still around.
As a new subscriber to these videos, I'm interested in learning about the way the boom to which the bucket is attached, moves or is moved. Any suggestion on where I could find an explanation of the mechanics of that movement? I can remember seeing these kinds of cable shovels back in the 1950's, when I was a kid.
