  • Blarney, but aay love this here band. And Enya. And Kate Bush. And Metallica. And The Who. And Hendrix. And Slayer. And Run DMC. Hell, I just love me some bands.

  • The music is a phenomenon of nature - I could listen to it for hours. But my favorite part of the video is to see them grinning like idiots because they're having such an awesome time playing. THIS is music.

  • This track/clip is just F A N T AS T I C, Solas at the TOP of their game, & Vanessa Mae could learn a thing or two from them!!! Love it!

  • I think I had forgotten why I was alive until I watched this.

  • one of my favorites ^___^ i love Solas!!

  • Not quite traditional.....

But still very good!! Love the drums!

  • @SkyDK1 Yeah it reminds me more of the appalachians than it dose of Ireland.

  • @yugster78 Yes, the links are all there.

  • Not quite traditional.....

    But still very good!!

  • My favorite Irish band, too!!! ... Saw them at Vanderbilt in Nashville, TN a couple of years ago and they were WONDERFUL!! My boys and I enjoyed their concert so much, and it was really enjoyable to meet them afterwards. Hope they visit Tennessee again soon! :)

  • i'm in awe!!

  • Love it, wish the video was de-interlaced but love it just the same, beautiful sound! Good to practice by as well. Thanks for posting this!

  • Looking at them you can tell they think they're rad with the breaks and odd times but this is so, so ten years ago.

  • Love Solas...they definitely can bring a climax up to the stairs !!!

  • Oh.....my....God! Solas is fantastic!! Thanks for sharing!

  • a powerband...

  • i saw them in concert once; they were incredible!! i am absolutely serious when i say that a bunch of bow hairs had come loose by the end of the concert!

  • Magnifique

  • Doggone it. Missed them in Portland, OR Alladain Theater recently. HOpe they come back soon, this is wonderful, timeless.

  • just awesome

  • Wow, listening to that just made me really happy. :-)

  • I saw them in a small Church in Germany. I guess there were about 150 people and the athmosphere was incredible. It´s a pitty that i doesnt have any video material...

  • This band is completely amazing! What a happy accident to have found these guys!

  • Wow! They are awesome!

  • I first saw/heard them a few years ago at a folk festival...completely fell in love with their sound!!! And I just found a concert their doing is near me-- so excited!

  • These guys/gal are the best ever -- and I've seen quite a few of them.

  • Wow! I could do this all day!

  • I was grumpy all evening, but listening to this happy music has lifted my mood incredibly. Thanks!

  • incredible music! Theres power in this!

  • Acoustic bass! Now THAT's awesome.

  • 1:20 is my fave part, the guitarist stickin out his tongue jamming to the rhythm :)

  • WOOOOOO!!!!! :)

  • escuchando música así se confunde lo humano con lo divino¡¡¡

  • In my imaginary world, if only they had mics on their instruments, which of course they c/would hold, they'd be dancing wildly as well! Great music!

  • Oh yeah! Soul music! It's a wonder my CD hasn't worn out! Thanks for sharing "classic" Solas!! :)

  • OMG MY FAVES! AGAIN

  • Looking forward to seeing Solas at the Michigan Irish Music Festival.

  • They are grate and wonderful. They excite me from the first sound. When i listen to them my body is moving by itself. Every sound like river of life!!!

  • Amazing...... Nuff said.

  • ya gotta love winnie horan!!

  • @somestateband she is priceless isn't she! :D

  • haha, this is so great, I listen to them in the car all the time, and then I can't stop smiling ^^

  • I love this group... And they are so fun to watch.

  • Seamus Egan should play banjo or flute instead of that sloppy bluffing guitar stuff. He'll need to learn how to use his little finger if he wants to play tunes properly on the guitar...

  • go on mc auley up the callan cats

  • FANTASTIC!!!!!

  • saw solas live at the weekend, they were amazing, seamus changed instruments at least 3 times each song, it was amazing!

of course the band as a whole was brilliant :)

  • fucking brilliant!

  • Winifred is so good, a great combination with the guitar, I could listen to this style of music for ever. I, of course, love the boots.

  • My favourite irish band. Solas are soooo good. I love this reel, very american western guitar with a blend of irish in the morning dew...beautiful :)

  • @Raichu234 So true, their unique blend of their roots with other influences is simply stunning and truly beautiful..!

  • One of my favorite bands.

  • SIMPLY DIVINE SOLAS ON HIGH FORM X

  • NuCcCy...no one compared two groups of virtuoso's as better than the other.....besides...Winifred has ever soul in Deervish beat in the looks department ! :-P

  • possibly try some pyrotechnics?

  • uh YAY! thei're sooo great xD but dervish is better :P xD my family is from sligo I think that's the rason why in my child hood I listened to dervish a lot ^^ great vid 5*****

  • very impressive.

  • It doesn't get any better than this . Thanks Donegal

    Winnie rocks.

  • Aye, makes a lassie want to get up and dance!

Cheers! [Thank you, Donegal, for posting.]

  • Is this show on a dvd? If yes then what is it called?

  • The show is on dvd, Reunion: a decade on Solas.

It's recorded in the Irish pub of Philadelphia, with a sold out show.

I don't remember the farther details of it, but I will search it, I have the dvd, and place it here asap.

  • Dont think it gets much better than this!

  • Pure Class - Planxty overtones

  • I like this one ! It really cooks

  • buy the cd/dvd set, called "renunion", a very generous complilation of exquisite music.

  • Love this band, love this music.

  • i saw solas live in boston in december. they were absolutely brilliant- i got Seamus Egan and Eamon Mcelholm's autographs. they played this song and i looove it! winifred's fiddle has inspired me and i'm taking up fiddle lessons.

  • She's a downright master. Shit, all of them are. I've never met a violinist as outright talented as she is.

  • yeah... if i could irish step dance she'd be playing the fiddle for me for hours and hours and hours... magnificent!

  • Wow ! What an energy !! Phalaina

  • does anyone have a video of "the ballerina jig" any help would be appreciated. i LOVE that tune. solas is truly one of the best.

    thanks

  • They didn't perform it at their Reunion concert, so any video would be amateur. I think I've seen one around on youtube (I think, don't take my word for it)

  • They have a very good quality video of it on their website, if you look under media/video. Filmed live a few blocks from where I live.

  • My word, is there any instrument Seamus Egan DOESN'T play?

  • It gives you the feeling of running...without any shoes on...

  • WOW!!! I've been listening to trad for about 10 years now and never heard of Solas until coming across this video.

(Don't feel bad, I'd never heard of The Pogues until last year so...)

I've got some cd's to buy. YIPEE!

  • What the hell happened to the Fluer de lis vid?

  • I've seen then 8 or 9 times and cant wait to see them again.

This is truley spiritual takes me out and spins me in dream arms

  • great video!

  • Absolutely Brilliant!!

And I do support them. (and I have the dvd this is from, too)

  • This is superb! Really tight and a pleasure to listen to accomplished musicians. Made my day!

  • come on lads and gals...let's talk about this one a bit more. hope i don't offend, but this is fucking brilliant...slan go feoil...

  • have you found the fleur de lis vid? try that on for size unfuckin real

  • this is fucking brilliant. all the way. thanks for posting this. i am new to you tube, i and i love this

i think solas are spot on. i saw them a few years ago in so, ca and they were fantastic. just a huge thank you for the video. makes me very happy

  • According to some trad listeners, Solas is on its way to being the next Bothy Band. Myself, I prefer original Bothy Band and the more sparse instrumentations of Altan.

  • this is from their commercial release "reunion". it contains a cd and a dvd. great band, great music- now go out and support them and buy the disc(s)!

  • i agree...great band, and i do support them. in every way...concerts, cds etc
