Brilhante trabalho, admiro modelos warbow e longbow iniciei aproximadamente 1 ano e sempre fui amante desse esporte, tudo de bom parabens, uma verdadeira obra de arte!!!Pauliano.
It does look to me to be fairly well tillered. There is a stiff spot near the heavy knot in the lower limb but I'd put his tillering up against yours, or mine for that matter.
i cant see what indians have to do with a "european" style warbow. if you can find a arrow with correct spine weight you do not have to care about if its center shot. i wouldnt wase such a bow by adding a shelf. be a man and shoot off the hand!
well... who the fuck needs a bow with arrow shelf ?? they didnt use arrow shelfs for a 1000 years ago and you dont need to use it now... like goatlord66 says.. get a glove and you wont feel anything..
Nice D bow! How's the hand shock on that bad boy? 138 # must be ripping up the wrist I would imagine. What did you use for the nocks? Have you done any work with osage?
selfbow means that the bow is made up of only a single piece of wood with no backing or lamination. but i dont know what self nocking is probably just cutting your nocks in the wood instead of getting other nocks that you put on
Cut down a tree and cut it to raw bow shape when wet, finish when dried for a few days (wiht or without tillering) and you should have as strong a bow as u wish.
(30-60 min to make a bow, 20 min to make a bow string from non-flexible fishing line, ages and loads of sweating to string the bow if you dont have a friend to help)
u sure its 138, thats aweful heavy for no backing man. I just done know if I can come to terms with that number sorry. I mean I know obviously bows can achive even higher weights than that but with no backing, that thing must be part of the kindling pile.
from what i have had explained to me,the trees grow very slowly which is why the wood is so very dense. the tree my bow came from was about 500yrs old and the trunk of the tree wasn't very big but very dense which is why heavy draw weight bows are able to be made with it.

Not necessarily. If it's worked down to just one ring on the back, it's not a problem.

what should that be good for? ive never used a bow with one before. get a glove and you wont feel anything
GoatLord66 2 years ago
if you have a shelf it will make the bow closer to center shot.. And the Indians didn't have gloves, they used arrow shelf's

what does the term 'selfbow' mean? and what is 'self knocking'?
mrguitarjoe 2 years ago
selfbow means that the bow is made up of only a single piece of wood with no backing or lamination. but i dont know what self nocking is probably just cutting your nocks in the wood instead of getting other nocks that you put on
irmollaar 2 years ago
beautiful, but it has alot of knots in it
magemager0 2 years ago
It's yew wood, you can tell by the creamy white sapwood and deep orange heartwood.
Most yew is very knotty, and can be hard to work with.
You just have to know how to treat the knots. Give them plenty of extra surrounding wood, and they will hold up fine.
You can tell he did this in a few places.
It's not always "pretty" to some, but it can give your bow character.
kauboy9816 2 years ago
i knew it was yew was just commenting on the amount of knots

buerm009 3 years ago
hello buerm009
its high altitude italian yew
it grows on the dark side of the alps and the wood is increadibly dense.
this is the wood used by the english archers during the medieval period as well as spanish.
english yew is not that good for heavy bows because they tend to be huge in the hand when made to high draw weights.
i could go on but ill let you find out the rest for yourself :-)
rattyarchery 3 years ago
How could a yew tree live on the dark side of the alps? Trees need light to live and how does it even grow in the alps? Aren't the alps freezing?
NewFoundArchery 3 years ago
from what i have had explained to me,the trees grow very slowly which is why the wood is so very dense. the tree my bow came from was about 500yrs old and the trunk of the tree wasn't very big but very dense which is why heavy draw weight bows are able to be made with it.
