  • Comment removed

  • @Mikajah03 bows like this are about $1000

  • hell of a nice bow . love to see it fired !

  • Brilhante trabalho, admiro modelos warbow e longbow iniciei aproximadamente 1 ano e sempre fui amante desse esporte, tudo de bom parabens, uma verdadeira obra de arte!!!Pauliano.

  • Can you tell me how thick it is in the center?

  • Love it...nice job...I'm in the process of making one now too.

  • that's a bow of beauty mate!

    thanks for sharing.

    stay safe pip

  • do you sleep wid it

  • @1000000volts yes lol :-)

  • @1000000volts I shoot with that Bow at 28"

  • WOULD B NICE 2 SEE IT IN ACTION

  • @joohop i am shooting it on my site. check it out.

  • that looked like fun to make, is it your work, or steve stratton?

  • @BowskinArchery it was made by celestino poletti in italy.

  • that looked like fun to make, is it your work?

  • @BowskinArchery not my work it was made by an italian chap.

  • 138#.... wow, that's a brute.

  • That is a beautiful bow, wish I could shoot it but I would have to get in shape first to pull a 138# bow Lol!

  • is it made from taxus wood?

  • @emielvisscher

    yes. :-)

  • @rattyarchery...... looks like yew to me but wat do i know

  • that bow will break, never remove wood from the back of the bow..i want to see him draw it...lol

  • @treyhoehn

here you go . look at the video responses above :-)

  • It does look to me to be fairly well tillered. There is a stiff spot near the heavy knot in the lower limb but I'd put his tillering up against yours, or mine for that matter.

  • Not necessarily. If it's worked down to just one ring on the back, it's not a problem.

  • i love the song.. who is it? what song?

  • @KonstantinKuehn

    evanescense, going under i think

  • What amazes me is that those horn nocks don't come flying off the handle wit those kinds of pundages for the warbows.

    Amazing

  • that is a beautiful bow!!

what wood is it made of?

  • Wood is from a Yew tree

  • Nice bow, but I could only watching this and put it on my wall. 138# ? It's crazy, or just I'm too chicken. :) I have a bow 45#.

  • no arrow shelf?

  • what should that be good for? ive never used a bow with one before. get a glove and you wont feel anything

  • if you have a shelf it will make the bow closer to center shot.. And the Indians didn't have gloves, they used arrow shelf's

  • i cant see what indians have to do with a "european" style warbow. if you can find a arrow with correct spine weight you do not have to care about if its center shot. i wouldnt wase such a bow by adding a shelf. be a man and shoot off the hand!

  • Arrow shelfs on a english warbow??? Are you stupid???

    Nice bow!

  • sorry I am not an english warbow professional... jackass

  • you dont ned to be a professional to understand that english warbows dont have a arrow shelfs... jackass

  • okay, well my bad I dont give a shit about warbows, btw who the fuck needs a war bow

  • well... who the fuck needs a bow with arrow shelf ?? they didnt use arrow shelfs for a 1000 years ago and you dont need to use it now... like goatlord66 says.. get a glove and you wont feel anything..

  • okay Mr. Hardass, do what you want... I'll do what I've been doing for a long time

  • Dude nice bow but plz next time use medieaal music... Not pop/rock

  • @carlern55 .....medieval music bro spellin man keep it real

  • nice dude. wat wood did u use

  • Yew

  • That's just sweet.

  • what is the song ?

  • evanescence- going under

  • Nice D bow! How's the hand shock on that bad boy? 138 # must be ripping up the wrist I would imagine. What did you use for the nocks? Have you done any work with osage?

  • Thats one pretty looking bow

  • does it shoot?

  • yes you can see me shooting it on video responses or on my channel

  • can you shoot it?

  • hello nollietresforlife

yes you can see me shooting it on the video responses above

  • LOL

  • man that too strong

  • Great work man, congrats, beautifull wood, but tillering is best part of this bow, you can see the care on it.

  • But the important question is: Did you ever sjoot with that bow?

    Does it work well?

  • GORGEOUS bow!

  • what does the term 'selfbow' mean? and what is 'self knocking'?

  • selfbow means that the bow is made up of only a single piece of wood with no backing or lamination. but i dont know what self nocking is probably just cutting your nocks in the wood instead of getting other nocks that you put on

  • beautiful, but it has alot of knots in it

  • It's yew wood, you can tell by the creamy white sapwood and deep orange heartwood.

Most yew is very knotty, and can be hard to work with.

You just have to know how to treat the knots. Give them plenty of extra surrounding wood, and they will hold up fine.

You can tell he did this in a few places.

It's not always "pretty" to some, but it can give your bow character.

  • i knew it was yew was just commenting on the amount of knots

  • nicceee.... whats the song btw???????

  • its Evanescence, cant remember the song title tho

  • Going Under.

  • its yew i know theres a lot of yew at me theres even alot of hazel

  • Hi Ratty,

Can you handle the bow now? Put an video when you have some time.

  • hello bubusek

i'm almost there now, hopefully this summer i will film myself shooting it. :-)

  • its illegal to hunt in the uk :-)

  • looks bumpy? is it?

  • it obviously does have knots that must be left untouched to not weaken the bow but its of no consequence other than it looking bumpy

  • yes :-)

  • great bow mate 5/5 looks beautiful

  • i just saw that in your other vid, how much did it cost??

  • hello metalheadsabyss

    the bow cost

£675.00 sterling imported from celestino poletti italy by diy archery England

  • Use it!!!!!

  • looks like a 50 ponder to me....

  • its definaley over 138# @ 32"

  • thats a heck of a great bow! I've been looking for a heavy longbow myself. Where did you get it?

  • Cut down a tree and cut it to raw bow shape when wet, finish when dried for a few days (wiht or without tillering) and you should have as strong a bow as u wish.

(30-60 min to make a bow, 20 min to make a bow string from non-flexible fishing line, ages and loads of sweating to string the bow if you dont have a friend to help)

  • Great looking bow. I bet it has som high performance standards.

  • im still working on getting it back to full draw, but i think it will be quite impressive when i manage it. :-)

  • Looks a real monster ratty.

Looking forward to seeing you shoot that.

    Gerrit

  • u sure its 138, thats aweful heavy for no backing man. I just done know if I can come to terms with that number sorry. I mean I know obviously bows can achive even higher weights than that but with no backing, that thing must be part of the kindling pile.

  • hello buerm009

    its high altitude italian yew

it grows on the dark side of the alps and the wood is increadibly dense.

this is the wood used by the english archers during the medieval period as well as spanish.

english yew is not that good for heavy bows because they tend to be huge in the hand when made to high draw weights.

i could go on but ill let you find out the rest for yourself :-)

  • How could a yew tree live on the dark side of the alps? Trees need light to live and how does it even grow in the alps? Aren't the alps freezing?

  • from what i have had explained to me,the trees grow very slowly which is why the wood is so very dense. the tree my bow came from was about 500yrs old and the trunk of the tree wasn't very big but very dense which is why heavy draw weight bows are able to be made with it.

to find out more visit the DIYarchery website all information about this wood can be found there.

  • Can you shoot that thing?!

    Regards.

  • not yet :-( ,but as soon as i can, i will post it on my channel ;-)

  • a self bow is a bow made from a single stave of wood.

not necessarily made by the owner ;-)

  • the bow was bought, i never made this one it was bought through DIY Archery

  • Okay ratty great warbow lucky man. Still lifting those weights? Marlon

  • hello marlon

yep still pushing the weights ;-)

  • Thats an excellent and beautiful bow, especially if you made it yourself

  • the bow was bought, i never made this one it was bought through DIY Archery
