  • check out Lee Morgan's arrangement it is by far the best of them all

  • this is the best version

  • check out the clifford brown version of this too!

  • @jerec576 that made me laugh so loudly for no reason

  • at minute 3:27 I can see the tears slide, great interpretation,en el minuto 3:27 puedo ver las lagrimas caer ,grandiosa interpretacion.

  • The only trumpet feature (well in this case flugelhorn) I've heard that actually makes me cry. Its nice every once in a while to get away from the screaming.

    A true inspiration <3

  • OH... nice...

  • wow that was beautiful!

  • It is refreshing/amazing/encouraging to see Arturo playing from his heart instead of playing TO the masses who slop up high notes like trash thrown to hogs.

  • For my modest opinion one of the best interpretation of this great melody.

  • Arturo Sandavol is performing the most eligant rendition and it is a masterpiece of music and by far the best rendition ever recorded. The others are nice but Arturo's beautiful way of playing and the organ accompanying blends into a perfect recording.

While listening most every day it gets me in a mood of complete relaxation for the entire day.

  • One of the most beautiful melodies ever written played by a true master! Thanks for posting this, thanks to Benny Golson for writing it, thanks to Arturo Sandoval for performing it, and thanks to Clifford Brown for inspiring it!

  • Auturo Sandoval performing this most eligant and truly a masterpiece of music is by far the best rendition of all. The others are nice but Arturo's beautiful way of playing and the background on the organ blends into music never to be forgotten. While listening I always gets a mood of total relaxation that lasts the entire day.

  • very good but i prefer lee morgan's one

  • very beautiful - top of the top !

  • good arangement but i prefer roy hargroves

  • If you are a trumpet player that truly appreciates Clifford, it isn't too surprising to cry playing this tune. Check out Roy Hargrove's video of this. A beautiful rendition of this tune is very moving.

  • @orjazzmicintentions I agree. Roy Hargrove's rendition is the best I've heard. I never tire of it.

  • When is this from? What year?

  • 素晴らしい!

  • he sweating not crying, he crying cus he sweating.

  • he cried.......amazing

  • sweat

  • Heartbreaking !

  • what a sound wow really incredible... and his interpretation is insidefull and full of love..Clifford was amazing..thanks arturo its wonderfull

  • goosebumps all over the place! just one word for this; WOW........

    One of the best!

  • i really prefer him playing this way, than giving soo many notes, it allows for more emphasis on each note choice

  • i absolutely agree you friend! peace!

  • they all play it well, uniquely in their own interpretation with their own emotional inflection, that's what makes it so diverse and itneresting to listen too. clifford brown greatly respected by all. true jazz great.

  • Great rendition - if you really know your axe and it's connected to your heart - a lot of notes are not necessary. I've heard some of the afore mentioned greats who couldn't play it like this just because they were not totally comfortable and at one with their axe. Benny rocks

  • I disagree that the late great trumpeters Lee Morgan or Freddie Hubbard did it better. Sandoval made it a sweet quiet ballad and it was beautiful, subtle, thoughtful and mature.

  • I totally agree - there's so much more to music than just a lot of notes. This melody is up there with Chelsea Bridge and a few others - you don't have to play around with it much if you have the chops to hold the melody

  • Chelsea Bridge. Ben Webster's rendition is one of the greatest recordings of all time. I am not a sax man and I don't like to hear endless cerebral avant-garde riffs like you hear today. It is musicians like Webster and Coltrane that get me to enjoy and appreciate the sax.

  • I think the electronic keyboard is a nice touch. I think Sandoval was trying to bring out the ballad quality of the tune; by getting complicated licks and piano comping out of the way with simple block chords in the background, it comes out very well.

  • I would say the best youtube version for me is roy hargrove. Have yet to hear it done better.

  • Arturo is good. But for me its ruined as soon as the electronic keyboard plays. rather hear, freddie or lee do it than Arturo anyday.

  • that is true, but listen to arturo's studio version, or grp big band version. i personally think that his studio version is the most beautiful and soulfull!

  • i say freddie hubbard does it better than both lee morgan and arturo sandoval.

  • pretty decent?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! are you kidding me? have you heard him play it with the GRP All star big band backing him up?? you're out of your mind if you think he's only (pretty decent!!!!)

  • this is good. yall shud check out lee morgan. he kills it, lee is the man. but arturo does it pretty decent

  • God bless your soul, Arturo, it's in your trumpet at the moment. It cries, it grieves, it flies after the one who's gone.

  • hes not playing a trumpet!

  • LIKE FING DUH

    it's called a flugelhorn

  • No doubt this is the best version I've ever heard of this song! It sounds so beautiful...

  • Wow I'm quite amazed with this. We shouldn't be arguing over who plays this better, Freddie or Arturo, it doesn't matter, they both play it with their own styles, Arturo's style differs from Freddie's. Isn't that what jazz is all about? Sure sometimes Arturo can be a bit of a show off but he definitely does not lack passion here, he's crying for god's sake!

Lets put out our petty squabbles and listen to the music, because that's what is about.

Congrats Arturo on a job well done!

  • When you are right, you are right...who cares who is a better player? They both have talent, and can box put on a great show.

  • tyranorabit you are such a fuckin idiot.. this is the best verison of this song on youtube!

  • I hate to admit it bcuz i prejudged him but he hit this out the park.

  • Great video...

  • Arturo is crying.........

  • As much as Lee Morgan is amazing and soulful, I actually personally like Arturo's soft and simpler take on IRC better. It's so gorgeous. :) Something for everyone.

  • O.K. so he's not Lee Morgan or Freddie, but it's still lovely, and frankly I'd give my left ball to be able to play this well. Accept it for what it is: damn good!

  • wE hAve tHe sAme flugehOrn..

  • Show us how it is done...

  • woooooooooooooooooooooooooooow

  • estupendoooooooooo q manera de expresarrrrrr eres sensacional arturo...yo juan diego de perú

  • sensacional

  • Im sorry to say it but Freddie plays this 100000000 times better then this guy. I also think this tune fits better with trumpet. but thats just my thoughts,,,

  • also check out roy hargrove play this!

  • É senssacional o toque aveludado de arturo sandoval.Ele tem uma formula única de tocar.

    É dificil imitá-lo.
