  • کہوں کس سے میں کہ کیا ہے شبِ غم بری بلا ہے

مجھے کیا برا تھا مرنا اگر ایک بار ہوتا

  • Yeh na thi humari kismat

    ke tumhara aur dedaar hota.

    Agar tum aur jite rahte

to is awaaz ka bar bar intezaar hota....

  • Sir, we are going to miss your voice forever.

  • It was never in my fate to meet my beloved.

Even if more years of life was to me allocated, I would have been still awaiting the prize cherished.

If you think that I had been living on your promise, it is a lie.

For, if I had faith in you, would not of joy I would die.

Woe betide, my friendship, that the friends give pious advice and sermons they deliver.

  • to my mind jagjit and ghalib are two same individuals born in different centuries

  • -Yeh na thi hamari kismat ki wisaal-e-yaar hota,

agar aur jeete rehte yahee intezaar hota!

It was not my destiny that I unite with my love.

I would have waited for the moment, if I would have lived till then…

-Tere wade par jiye hum toh yeh jaan zoot jana,

main khushee se mar na jaati agar eitabaar hota

If you think that I lived on your promise, that’s not the situation…

Wouldn’t have I died with joy, if I’d been sure that you are trustworthy!

  • slute y0u great Jagjit singh in sh0rt y0u are a legend.

  • Mirza Ghalib (27 December 1797— 15 February 1869) aaj bhi sub per ghalib hain.

Today is his birthday, i would love to share this eternally charming Ghazal with friends on youtube and face book. Happy birthday to all Ghalib lovers.

  • Where could I get the whole concert to download ?

  • gret

  • although I love the composition .. but .. jaghjit goes wrong with the pronunciation yeah masail-e-tasawuf jaghjeet says yeah masali-e-tazawuf dont expect these kind of mistakes from a renowned singer like him

tasawuf ---- is from the word sufi .. means saint hood

  • @srazihaider he pronounced correctly i guess u need sum hearing aid buddy. no offense personally.

  • bahoot khoob Jagjit Sahab. My tributes to Ghalib for such a beautiful poetry.

  • greattttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttt Jagjit Singh

  • Thank you Galib and thank you Jagjit Singh.

  • A great vice of all time, GEOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.

  • Good

  • YE MASAEL-E-TASSAVUF,YE TERA BAYAAN GHALIB,

TUJHEY HUM WALI SAMAJHTEY,JO NA BADA KHWAAR HOTA.

  • Can't understand the wording. But the tune drifted me to heaven.

    Amazing - from SRI LANKA

  • @gamagehemaratne - This is Mirza Ghalib of l9th century whose verses occupy the maximum attention by singers even today ! Even otherwise, whatever Jagjit Singh hums becomes melodious even sans accompanying instruments.

  • I love your comment..kash sabhi indian and pakistani aisa sonchten...india and pak music aur sangeet ka khajana hai...kash hum ek hoke sonchne lage..ek aawaz mein gungunaye.....AMEN...iM INDIAN..

  • The best Ghazal singer ever, Jagjeet has made Ghalib easy to understand

May allah give him a million more years to sing Ghalib

jagjeet has made khalk-a-khuda happy Allah will give him the due reward

    Bahut bahut shukria

  • Jagjit is eternal. His voice has mellowed with age..so much so that every word is a pure drop of honey...moreover he has the panache to hold the attention of the audience with is witty humor at times, which suddenly energises the audience... His compilation of the ghazals of Ghalib is his massive landmark, and he has stamped his authority in his trademark manner. After all, now Naseeruddin Shah is synonymous with Ghalib and thereafter Jagjit Singh.....!!!

  • great galib

  • It cant get better than this

  • THIS MANZ KILLEERRR MAN///////////

  • تجھ کو مجھ سے، مجھ کو تجھ سے جو بہت پیار ہوتا

نہ تجھے قرار ہوتا نہ مجھے قرار ہوتا

    paradise. rubinefrim.

  • maen teri soch ki pervaaz ko to pa na ska

mager ye jan gya hon k tuujh sa tu he tha

    For Ghalib by Faizan Qazi

  • Beautifully said sir

    aapney khud likha hai?

  • Mujhe kya bura tha marna, agar ek baar hota ...

  • tht line is so profound..

koi mere dil se pooche tere neemekash ko,

ye khalish kahan se hoti jo jigar ke paar hota...

n tht line is also of equally plausible bt nt included in this ghazal...

hue mar ke hum jo ruswa,

kyo naa hue garq e dariyaa,

    naa koi janaaza uthta ,

    naa koi mazaar hota...

  • ye na thie hamarie qismet ke wisale Ghalib hota

  • My dear Pashtonkhan Sahib, what a remarkable comment you have passed and won my heart. I would like you to be my friend. Would you accept this humble offer?

  • Jagjit Singh has sung Ghalib's ghazal in an excellent style.

  • really in ghalib's style.... in the way he want to be...

    Really LOVE his voice...

  • Keya baat ha. likhne wale ne bhi akhir likha.

aur jagjeet ne bhi kamal ki.

    wah...wah...wah... Ghalib

  • Ghalib the best jagjit best of the rest

  • awesome !!!!!

  • wonderful performance. Congratulations to all the musicians. wonderfull music , wonderful voice of Sri jagjit Singh.Heart touching.

  • awsum... love it

  • He is a seasoned artist of his class, having good control on his voice with full expression. He know that what he is doing. Composition, arrangements of instruments specially mixing is excellent.

  • Awesome! Awesome! Awesome!

  • Jagjeet is a great artsit but i assess him a man with a serious & sober personality. In this item, he felt agony and tried to express his inside to the listeners, with out obviously exposing, what his feelings are. this is my a little bit delicate assessment. The combination of the instruments Tabla, guitar (specially at it's base part playing) and violin, just added extra music colours to the item. Thanks for chamogaa, who forwrded to me & to *noeenmg*, who up loaded. Khalid Asghar.

  • Nice assesment my friend !!

Ye na thhi hamari kismat ..

    ki...

    :)

  • Thanks dear *kedarnevergone*. Khalid Asghar.

  • Very deep and insightful on your part, you understand the soul of indo/pak music very well, not many people do ...glad to see people like you watching these videos we need to keep this music alive.

  • Few today can render Ghalib ghazals with the same sweetness of voice and depth of emotion as JS. Wonderful, just wonderful. He does like his musical accompaniments at high volume. Ghazals always sound better with a more restrained volume in the orchestral support. Still, JS is a musical delight-- always! Thanks for the clip, naveenmg.

  • jagjit has always been great with Ghalibs shayries. Pls inform one of the comment makers that Ghalib has been the gretest ghasal writer ever we learn all the time i hope he/she does not take an offence regards G2

  • what is ghalif by the way? is it a movie name or some king of raag name. please make me clear. i will be really gladful

  • speechless

  • very gud

  • tere waade par jiye hum to yeh jaan jhoot jaana

ke khushi se mar na jaate agar eitbaar hota

koi mere dil se pooche tere teer-e-neemkash ko

yeh khalish kahaan se hoti jo jigar ke paar hota

yeh kahaan ki dosti hai ke bane hain dost naaseh

koi chaarasaaz hota, koi ghamgusaar hota

bejod ghalib...kya baat hai! aur jagjit singh ne chaar chaand laga diye...

  • @musicdiwani no doubt his best ghazals are from ghalib only love that volume

  • @musicdiwani

Koi Chaara-saaz hota, koi Gham- nisaar hota

Chaara-saaz=doctor, gham-nisaar= the one who takes away the grief/sorrows

  • @ksdhande : Only if you could be there to explain all ghazals. They are all lovely but here and there, I always come across a stumbler.

  • yes i thing thats true

  • no body can sing ghalib better than jagjit singh

  • Listen Habib Wali Muhammad

    watch?v=tiEL_sSsQDA

  • ye khalish kahan se hoti, jo jigar ke paar hota...wah galib...many thanks to uploader..

  • thanks for post Omer

    i

  • Thanks a zilliion for the beautiful touching ghazal.

could someone plz explain the meaning of the last stanza

  • Jagjit Singh is the modern master of singing Ghalib, perhaps even surpassing past greats such as Begum Akhtar.

  • living with jagjit sing& lata mangeshker on this planet is our good luck . they are our national treasure.his velveti voice makes you intoxicated.

  • laakh rupaye ki baat kahi haaainnn... :)

  • @bindujain .......wah kya baat kahi hai

  • yeh na thi hamari qismat, ki visaal-e-yaar hota,

agar aur jeete rehte, yahi intezaar hota..

visaal-e-yaar --> mulaqat vid loved one

    rest is self-explanatory..

awesome 1 by Ghalib n sung well by our own JS :)

  • my dear Spynish 29 visaal means Death here it is:

yeh na thi hamari qismat k visaal e yaar hota

the death of my loved one was not my destiny.

  • it does mean meeting or union. Sometimes it is used for death because death is considered to be union or return to God. So when we say, un ka wisaal ho geya, we mean, he got reunited with God. In the context of this ghazal, it means, it was not in my fate to get reunited with my beloved one.

  • deficitof - Visaal means to get in touch.

  • @deficitof you are right wen you say visaal means death. but not in this ghazal bro!! it doesnt hold any sense in this context! death of my loved one was not my destiny :O .. hope 2 yrs later u wud understand ghazals better :D lolz!

  • dude can you please translate this line in hindi...im sorry i dont undersand urdu but still listen to these legends...love and appreciate of all that i understand of their ghazals...

  • "Naseh" means "a giver of advice", "charasaaz" means "a healer", and "gham-gusaar" means "a sympathizer, or someone who shares one's sorrows". So the sher means "This sort of friendship, where the so-called friends do nothing but give unwanted advice, is worthless. How I wish that some of them would instead either cure my pain or sympathize truly with my sorrows."

  • wow..beautiful..its like more u listen to it,the more u fell in love with it...thank you so much jayantshaq..appreciate it...

  • visaal- e shabb hai gul kardo tamaam chiragon ko

RAJ ki bazm mein kya kaam jalne waalon ka...

    lol

  • agar aur jeete rehte to jigar ke aar hota...

i wud say he should change these lines

ke khusi se mar na jate agar ek baar hota..

i wud sing my lyrics in this gazal.

koi mere dil se pooche..yeh khalish yahan se hoti jo jigar ke paar hota....

  • yeh seriously i think the same it shud be ek baar hota not aitbaar hota!! buh o well still gud enuff lol

  • dudes, Ghalib was a much greater genius than you guys. Here is my translation of those lines: I lived my life on your promise. Beware that I knew it was a lie. Had I not died of happiness, if I had believed on that. (meaning: I would have died of happiness, if I had really believed you would come and get reunited with me)

  • This is good, but I like Ahmad Wali better

  • tere waaaday per jiye hum

    to yeh jaan jhoot jaanaa

  • yeh na thi humari kismat

ke galib se mil hi pate

  • wahh galib..wah jagjit...

ye khalish kahan se hoti jo jigar ke paar hota...

  • kia nayey andaz main gaya hai. excellent jagjeet sahib.

  • What an awesome combination...jagjit singh and mirza ghalib...pain and voice...great...

  • about Jagjit Sahab....unho ney to meri dilko ukharh key rakh chorhey...adaab

  • best ever

  • it,s also personal likings. moon reflects light from sun, but that is not what i mean. my cousin was influenced by one song wonder. no comparision. pankaj is pankaj. anw let,s not argue and enjoy the master of ghazals. i agree both r loved. and lata is pure lata, a bharat ratan.

  • ohoooooooo what a nice ghazal ghalib ki to bat hi mat karo

  • I made a bet on him vs Pankaj Udhas in 70,s that Jagjit will outshine all. I was right.

  • they are both true legends beyond match! Its like comparing the sun and the moon...both have their own respective places, both are loved and adored!

  • jagjit ke awaz main patha nain kia jado hay jab main jagjit ko sunta hun dunya say la taluk ho jatha hon our khas kar ghalib k kalam ka jo jagjit nay haq ada kia hay our kisi nay nain kia.our is ke maan nay jo naam raka hay usi tara is nnay dunya walon kay dilon ko jeet lia hay.i love him

  • what a magical voice - coupled with Ghalib's poetry...truly mindblowing! Have heard him live..recordings don't do him justice - incredibly talented!

  • من به وعده ات ستمگرصبر پیش همیکردم اگرم به زندگانی دیگر اعتبار بودی

  • زیبا تر از آنکه تصور کنی واه !!!!!!!

  • u r absolutely right, Great singer of all times!

I never found a mistakeless person in music except this guy, he is a genius!

  • Ghulam Ali still sings for sure. He has not come out with any new albums but he still goes around and does concerts here and there. I met him like a month ago here in the US. He was doing a concert. Had dinner with him after. He is now 67 so he isn't singing any new stuff. He has already become a legend.

  • beautiful and touching the soul

  • 666143 i do agree wiith u.

  • yes you r right but also don't forget MEHDI Hassan infact he is the best

i also like jagjit alot i have a big collection of him i think almost every singleghazal but still i would say mehdi hassan is the best

  • Being pakistani, and urdu speaking i would say , jagjeet is the talent of the asia. great God gifted voice, may live long.

  • i swear. i am not sure what happens after him. with ghulam alis gone and mehdi hasan (almost) retired, its pretty grim

talat aziz and pankaj udhas..they are nowhere close

  • Totally agree with you. People used to say similar about Indian singers Mukesh, Rafi and Kushore Kumar. You can't get that kind of talent anymore...neither will you once Mehdi Hassan, Ghulam Ali and Jagjit are no longer. What a sad day it will be for Ghazal lovers.

  • where is Ghulam ali gone, does he not sing, I heard he still teaches music to his students!

  • Great Poetry of Ghalib and Jagjit's Voice

  • touch 2 my HEART . . . .

  • The WRITING of Ghalib and the VOICE of Jagjit are immortal and eternal.....

  • ghalib+ jagjit= Gold+perfume

  • wah wah no words to compliment both Jagjit & Galib....

  • Ghalib could put emotions into words in a way which is incomparable with sukhanwars.

  • AWESOME!

  • god i love this....

  • There is only one Jagjit Singh and one Mirja Ghalib, there will not be a 2nd one. We should be proud that they were born in India

  • Great, im really excited to see and listen to this ghazal. i'd love to see more from this concert.

    God bless u.

  • great ghazal Naveenmg bro, thanx!!! can u plz put NA THA KUCH to KHUda tha from same dvd ghalib live in concert.

  • wow man........i feel like.....going to sleep with this enchanting voice.......
