OMG that is so true LOL! I tried my best to find his complete name but all I DID find was Ferdinand. And I read somewhere in my research that he's an import from Malaysia or Indonesia. Not sure how credible that detail is.
And to make it more surprising, my atenean friends didn't like it. It was so low of some people to write the names of our Green Archers in long pieces of cardboard and burn them. That's not the Ateneo way. Some people just brought down their school, obviously making a fool out of Ateneo.
I didn't see those boards with the names that you're referring to. If there were such items that were tossed into the fire, it's quite possible they were symbolic of the fact that our team burned [Sports: To outplay or score on (an opponent) as defined in the American Heritage Dictionary] them in the series.
because the bonfire thing was too much for you guys. first, talo na kayo sa sports (blue eagles became champions in the gradeschool, highschool, and college levels). second, ateneo was recognized as the best school in the whole of the philippines and many guys from dlsu resented this.
i mean talo na kayo, minudmod pa mukha niyo sa putik with the bonfire thingy. that's why we apologized. bait namin, diba?
You think anyone wouldn't care if their names are burned? C'mon, get real. For the past UAAP championships La Salle won, can you name at least one instance where we burned the names of the blue eagles?
I'd have to agree with chickboy411. Of course La Salle would make the bonfire a big deal because it was very low of Ateneo to have the names of the green archers burned. If La Salle did that, I'm sure Ateneo would demand for an apology too. Actually, any school would make an issue if such unpleasant action was made on them. Makes sense now, doesn't it?
My friends from ateneo went to the bonfire. And what did they see there? they saw piles of wood, along with long pieces of cardboard. And written in those long pieces were the names of our Green Archers, written in green, ready to be burned. We get it! You guys won! No big deal; it's just a game! Is that how you celebrate your victory? And to think, you say we lasallians need finesse. Bunch of hypocrites.
i have nothing against ateneo...i actually like ateneo...let's just all accept that, that dunk was a good slam and no one has the guts to do that in ateneo...i dont think we should criticize people for what they are doing best...
No one is criticizing the dunk itself or the act of dunking. It's what he did after that. I think it's pretty clear that's the whole point here. Not the dunk, which was impressive. Even the steal, which was perfect. It's the self-indulgent taunting afterwards.
Oh and I doubt very much it was a matter of guts or what you claim to be lack thereof among our players for not dunking the ball. It's a matter of opportunity and choosing the better percentage shot as each case may be.
so, are you guys saying that every student in ateneo is perfect? c'mon man, let's look at reality. im sure that ateneo has people who need to learn finesse, such as those in youtube who say a lot of bad things about la salle. That's NOT finesse. I'm not against Ateneo or anything; I'm just saying you guys should also correct yourselves.
Actually, the point of the video is Ferdinand's hysterically poor choice of timing his grandstanding. He was welcome to do so - as players do indeed, to celebrate a goal especially one as emphatic as a dunk. BUT, he should've done so when they were certain to come out on top. Instead, his display of arrogance was so premature that the eventual outcome of events only turned him into a goat. Even the commentators mentioned how DLSU's initial fire fizzled soon after the game started.

Haha! I`m form La Salle but he freakin took 5 steps! =))
GreenBaller17 1 year ago
Looks like he traveled... twice. He stole the ball half way between the opposite 3 point line and half court, and only dribbled twice.
It's not like he has a long stride either. Actually looks like he took about four steps after his last dribble. Bad video though...

Did you know that Ateneo apologized to La Salle for doing such action? It was in the newspaper.
I don't know why you guys are saying that Lasallians need finesse. Quit being hypocrites.
chickboy411 3 years ago
Yeah? And look where it brought Ateneo. A public apology had to be made for La Salle. Explain that.

In that context, finesse was used to mean the "skillful handling of a situation : adroit maneuvering" as defined by Merriam-Webster.
