  • Hi guys. I planning on buying a keyboard and the choice is: MicroKorg XL, Akai Miniak & Alesis Micron. I don't care for presets as I'm planning on programming my own sounds as soon as I can. I'm not interested in making electronic music (as in beats, etc) but ambiental & atmospherical sounds. As I understand, Alesis has much more powerful engine to program your own sounds. Can anyone confirm this? What would be the best choice for me? Tnx.

  • is the micron discontinued? i want one

  • @alexandermemrik yes, long ago. It is now sold as Miniak by Akai. They redesigned the hardware slightly, but the functions and sound engine is the same. You can compare my micron and miniak videos, I had them both for a while. Cheers!

  • @alexandermemrik nope, i got mine from guitar center

  • This is just awesome. Wish it was longer.. :)

  • I am using this alesis micron with the hammond organ. please show me in japan.

  • I am using this alesis micron with the hammond organ. please show me in japan.

  • This was one of the videos that compelled me to get an Alesis Micron a couple years ago to make music for my game. I just uploaded it to my channel yesterday, and I come back to discover you actually made the Micron?! Bravo! Oh and please record more little jams!

  • wow man, great job

  • Groovy track! Also great work on designing the Micron!

  • this is a cool synth, I have one and the best thing about it is splitng the keyboard into three different parts so u can play 3 differents sounds at once...

  • I love this song. first heard it when i was in high school and now everytime i hear it brings me back to my HS days =) you should make a lesson on this

  • can you get wobbles on that bitch!?

  • can we use the Alesis Micron with Ableton?

  • fucking sick! i need to get me an alesis micron yo

  • I've literally been coming her twice or three times a day since this video came out until 07 till now! sadly my other accounts are closed. Amazing.. i can't get over this video.

  • I really like that lead sound.

  • looks like this could be on itunes?

  • I like this, mate. Nice groove. You play the micron well.

  • This track was the reason i felt in love with my Micron, and i still am !

Really nice job man, a small demo of magic !

  • good

  • I have watched this everyday of my life since jan 27, 2007.. best video on youtube? I think so.

  • AWESOME

  • what's better? this or the microkorg

  • @slavesbydesign It depends, They both cater for a different kind of synth player, imo the korg has a phatter sound (Which is unusual for korg) whereas the Alesis is much more delicate. Also i think the Korg lacks a drum sequencer.

  • @slavesbydesign

Probs this, I dunno though I played the micro korg nbot this, micro korg was pretty good, but wat ive seen of this is better x

  • i have been waiting for alesis micron jam 2 since january 27, 2007....

  • great sound man..I've got a micron too..although i'm a guitar player..your music inspires...you show that good music can be made without breaking the bank..!

  • I removed my previous comments because my opinion changed. I said "the Micron doesn't sound analog but it doesn't sound like a virtual analog either" - which is a good thing, but after hearing more, non-yt demos - it DOES sound VERY analog :). Worrydream you are the most awesome...awesome thing on the planet. This was a great demo, you played fabulously, and your sound engine is absolutely awesome. I went and bought a micron! Was the Micron SE your idea too, or Alesis trying for some more dosh?

  • I'm in the same situation with 3rdJulyOfAugust, would like to hear more about this

  • Hey dude...I just purchase this instrument...can you please post a little demo of a session like this please....maybe with some help of your explination...just a demo...thank you...

    Greets.

  • I've got one, but this guys jam is way better than what I've done so far. Make some more of these!!

  • Hi guys, i`m kind of a noob when it comes to synthesis so i probably don`t know what i`m talking about but i was thinking about buying either this or the microkorg as a beginner synth, i`m pretty much sold on both since each have their good bits but at the moment i`m more hooked on the microkorg since i`m into the deep dubstep style bass sounds that it can make... i was wondering can this make the same level of bass sounds as the microkorg? if so i`m getting this.

  • @3rdJulyOfAugust btw if anyone knows of any cheap synths that can make the same bass sounds as the microkorg but would be better as a beginner synth could you say what they are?

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help :D

  • @3rdJulyOfAugust It depends, I would get the micron because it;s more capable, but it's not well suited to beginners. The microkorg is much easier to use, but not as powerful.

  • @IAmBound Hi IAmBound, thanks for the advice. from what i`ve read the micron is a powerful synth once you get used to it but the microkorg what what you`ve said and i`ve read is easier to use, i`ll have to read up a bit more about both and see which one would be best for me.

  • @3rdJulyOfAugust No problem :)

  • @3rdJulyOfAugust Well.. The korg is more of a single play instrument, no sequenzer and a limited arpeggio, only one sound at the time and 4 sound polyphony, so you can do "more" with the Micron. However, the sounds you can make with tjhe Mocrokorg are awesome (i've programmed it for years, still have it). I am thinking of getting a micron too, since the Ion is too large, and the Micron has the sequenzer as well, but that is more for "fun". Be aware the Micron seems to be going of of stock again

  • @sp4zzer Hi sp4zzer, thanks for the info, it certainly sounds like the micron is the more capable synth especially since the microkorg sounds like it has a lot of limitations especially the 4 note polyphony however from what you say and the videos i`ve watched on youtube the microkorg has such a good sound too, i reckon i should read up more about the micron and wait until they get in stock again and see whether i want a more capable or better sounding synth.

  • @3rdJulyOfAugust Its quite possible that the Micron is out of prod for good. Be prepared for whats in stock may be what is left. I've never regrettet getting the MicroKorg, but it seems to be easier to find (NB! I have the original MicroKorg, not the XL). I would not discourage getting the Korg from my personal experience, but if its gonna be your only synth, I'd probably go for the Micron, you can do more fun things with it, and the keys on the Korg are pretty useless. Or get both :)

  • Awesome.

  • whats software use whit alesis mc?

  • Why the hell would 43 people dislike this?

  • @Robertspurling 43 People didn't want it to end.

  • @Robertspurling Cause they dont understand the language of synth ;)

  • @Robertspurling well i'm not disliking it, but it has a very ordinary minor 1-6-3-7 progression, which I loathe.

  • @Robertspurling

cuz this is awful poppy sound

  • amazing

  • how did you get the drums?? are the drums preset on the synth?

  • that is AWESOME!!!

  • Which is better this or korg microstation

  • @5botball that's something we'd all like to know the answer to my friend :)

  • @Thornyfy lol thanks.

  • @5botball well i think theyre pretty much the same. the alesis looks way cooler though :D

  • @5botball this!

  • Hey, how did you record the sound? Did you just connect the synth to the speakers and recorded with your cam or did you record the sound into your computer and then synced it to the video?

  • @Dsynth of course he recorded with computer then synced it.. the quality would be horrible if he just played through speakers

  • will any one please tell if the casio wk500 has synth or not

  • man you make me not want to pay my car to get one of those!

  • Dude that was awesome! makes me want to get a micron that much more!! thnks for sharing

  • u got skillz man.

  • is this a midi controler or can you just plug it into a speaker and play?

  • @KFLUFF27 my friend has one and im about 90% sure its both. haha sorry i realize that probably doesn't much.

  • @KFLUFF27 This is a full blown synth you can hook it to a speaker or keyboard amp and play right out of the box. Programming your own sounds is a little tricky at first, but once you get the hang of it, its possibilities are endless. That little thing is a monster.

  • Oh my god... That is to cool

  • this is really really good but i would have to stick with the microkorg

  • AWESOME jam. Ill have to buy one of these now.

  • I've got an Alesis Micron Blue (Same thing) and I love it. MicroKorg has nothing on this!

  • Hi. Ive been looking at this and love it for general use. It sounds like youve sequenced drums/pads into this too. Is that done internally? Please respond to duncetheemcee@gmail.com if you have a moment. Thanks.

  • Fucking impressive

  • Hey, great vids, i have an important question. I´m between the microKorg or the Micron.. wich one would u recommend me??? Since i´m looking forward to use for industrial/electronic music.. Thanks!

  • @gbboi Micron all da way bro

  • @gbboi Definitely the Micron. The microKorg is slowly becoming less and less cool.

  • @gbboi Only you can answer that question..but the Micron gives you complete access to any part of the synthesis chain via the streamlined interface. It has a very extensive list of filters including various pole filters, assignable buttons (you can assign the sliders and x,y,z knobs to alter various parameters on the fly for any individual program), 3 oscillators, 8 voices, 8 part timbrality and more. If you like being able to really shape your sounds then I highly recommend the Micron.

  • @gbboi hmm they are both good for that type of stuff but the micron doesn't really compare to the microkorg, it's a different class of synth. The Korg model it compares best to would be the R3.

  • awesome

  • TUTORIAL PLEASE

  • @mikepoop1 Here is your tutorial, listen, and play.

  • @mikepoop1 He basically spelled it out as to what presets he's using. The manual covers how to create setups very thoroughly.

  • Great song from the creator of the Micron. Please make more!

  • Nice tune!

  • I might have to stop paying my rent, but I really want one of those!

  • @poniesinashed LOL thats what im thinkin

  • @poniesinashed haha. i'm getting one soon. the cheapest price i could find it for is 300 on guitarcenter's website.

  • Love it!!! did you need any loops or sequencers?.... or is this all possible on the Micron?

  • Make more :) great tune ...

  • man you prob dont check your comments ,but i used to think you were so cool lol

i wud write comments saying your the coolest guy and stuff :P

  • more. :)

  • i just got this baby and wanna do stuff like this.. how does one do?

  • This is one of my favorite synths.I was gonna get one but decided to get a microkorg. What's better the micron or the ion??

  • @afroninjaman7 the ion and micron has exactly the same sound engine. what the ion has over the micron is hands on control i.e loads of knobs etc. the micron is basically a portable package version of the ion. both great synths

  • I just played with one of these at Guitar Center today and fell in love with it instantly.

  • LOVE IT!!!!

I'm buying one in a couple of days.

    MAKE MORRRRRRRREEEE!

  • Omg that was awesome! I loves it!!!! Do a love slash hardmix next lmfao! Omg omg! You are just really good!!!!

  • I remember I said something negative about the Alesis Micron because it was a digital synth and not a true analog synth. Disregard what I said before. This is the future and everything is becoming digital or is already digital. And that's the way it should be. This is truly an awesome synth. Alesis Micron ftw.

  • if this was a bit longer i would buy it. no joke. id use it as my alarm to get up every morning

  • @askaninjafan Are you familar with the Alesis Ion?

  • @Cable3999 i am not. =o

  • @askaninjafan The Alesis Micron is basically an Alesis Ion in a smaller package. There are several videos of the Alesis Ion on YouTube. I would still prefer the Alesis Micron.

  • @Cable3999 yeah, its much more simpler. im not to familiar with this instrument. so i think its a good starter. yes?

  • @askaninjafan I don't own this synth, but I am familar with it. It may be a pain in the ass to navigate through the menus and submenus because it does not have all the knobs like the Alesis Ion does. It has received many good reviews. It is more affordable than the Ion. It's definitely a good synth for the price. It may be perfect for you and you might be more than satisfied with it. I'm thinking about getting it myself. I believe a blue one just came out earlier this year and I want to get it.

  • i was trying to decide between this and the microKORG, and you just convinced me to buy one of these. thanks :)

  • @crazyrokk696 Go with the Alesis Micron.

  • That was sick man...

  • that will be mine

  • sweet

  • can this thing be used as a MIDI controller??

    Sorry im a total NOOB

  • @alex927 Yes, but being a noob doesn't exclude you from, you know, using google.

  • @Sam111111 hahaha..i tried that..

  • @alex927 It has MIDI in/out/thru, so yea it can be a MIDI controller. I usually just google '-synth name- + back' on images to see what inputs and outputs synths have on the back of them.

  • hi how much would one of these things be? they look and sound beautiful and seem extremely versatile.

  • @V19torrent theyr 400 new, u can get them for 340 new on ebay id do that, hope this helps!

  • @RespectTheDrums oh okay. sounds good :) thanks!

  • best ever!! love it

  • I want one

  • @mrhartuc It does sound professional, and it doesn't have samples, but program patches that employ the oscillators. Since it has three of them, you can get a pretty fat sound out of it. You can use all three oscillators simultaneously, additionally it has two LFO's 2 Filters with 20 different filter types, three envelope generators and an effects section. A pretty neat little monster....

  • Is the Micron Alesis' take on the popular "MicroKorg"?

  • @MultiIhateusernames Not exactly, it is basically a downsized version of the now legendary alesis ion, Which is to say that the alesis team took the ions three oscillator synth engine encased it in a much more compact keyboard and added a step sequencer. This synth is unbelievably flexible.

  • Sounds great! you inspired me to buy one. Check out my new micron video.

  • awesome use of pitch bend! you sir, are amazing.

  • I got a rather neat gift from my girlfriend today. If you bought an Alesis Micron with the original owners manual you know how screwed up the Table of Contents is. What she did was create an actual Table of Contents for me so the page number actually corresponds with the subject. Why Alesis allowed that crap manual to be released is beyond me. The rumor I have heard is that it was because Alesis was in such a hurry to get the Micron product out.

  • does this thing have midi?

  • @Metal758 Yes, it has midi in, midi out and midi thru connections, but no usb connectivity, you'll need an adapter for that.

  • how much for one of those

  • @beyblader17 I found mine on eBay for $319 U.S. with free S & H + 2 free microphone cables. I haven't seen the same people offering any for quite some time though. The cheapest I have seen lately is $339 with free S & H.

  • @ReneeNme holy crap!!!!! :[] i figured it would be like $100 or somthing you know like one of them wal-mart keyboards lol but ty for the info

  • @ReneeNme damn i figured it would be as much as a cheap wal-mart keyboard lol but thanks for the info stranger

  • What editing program do ppl use with the micron

  • @Metal758 AFAIK there is an Editing program called "micronizer", but you don't really need an editing program. The unit is self-contained and every parameter can be edited by using the built internal modulation matrix menu. Its a little difficult at first, since there are so many parameters, but it does have a virtual patch routing system, which allows you to create setups similar to a modular synth.

  • @mrhartuc yes it does! You have up to 3 oscillators per voice and an 8 voice polyphony plus two LFO' s, two multimode filters with 20 different filter types, three Envelope generators and a effect section with compression, overdrive/distortion, chorus flanger and phaser. You can also set each oscillator to "analogue drift" to emulate the sound of analogue synths rather convincingly. It is a little difficult to program at first, but once you get the hang of it, the possibilites are endless.

  • This is sooo awesome!

  • That song you played is sick!!!

  • that was terrific

  • the beats on this synthesizer are amazing. I wish i had this keyboard.

  • wow, what a great synth. a friend of mine is getting one next week. awesome job on the song.

  • awesome tune, dude!

  • you should make a vid on how to play that song

  • This is pretty hot

  • Very nice indeed! More, more.

FYI the rest, I own one myself, use for all sort of stuff. Check myspace, user 6blade, or "FSI london" here on youtube, I use Alesis Micron for both.

  • Haha, sounds like someone is pissed he spent too much money on a virus, which could never pull off anything like this on its own ...

  • They are available on eBay again for $319 U.S. so if any of you good people want one at such a ridiculous price you better get a move on.

  • Oh, and I forgot to mention. FREE shipping too. I lucked out when I got mine from another seller...$319 + FREE s&h + 2 FREE midi to midi cables. Not bad eh ? lol

  • does the alesis have a recording interface built in?

  • I like it!

  • Sounds great love Alesis's products

  • """Leave a note if you like it, and I'll record more!"""

    I like it very much

  • what software did u use to record?

  • it looks like he went direct into his camera

  • i have a microkorg and i use the boss loop station to loop tracks. Is the drum and the sequencing all possible on the micron?

  • @TommyTasteTDWP Yup, all the micron

  • its pretty obvious why you use a microkorg hence the tdwp. thats why they can still get away with selling it for 400 dollars. and yes, its all the micron. check out sh201 if you want to get weird, thats what i use. i like this keyboard because it really focuses and what you really need to get a perfect clean sound. good day.

  • If Roland, Alesis and Korg all worked together the result would be beastly.

  • i think your right, minus the korg and add the moog. =D

  • @WoodenToaster Hmm imagine an alesis micron with the supersaw- wave and a user interface like the sh 201 or the sh 01 GAIA with lots of dedicated knobs and sliders, that thing would be perfect, the v.a. synth to end all v.a. synths.....

I gotta stop thinking about it or my t-shirt will soon be soaked in drool.

  • @dudewhosaysarrh The Gaia is the best thing I ever bought.. check out my video of it doing a quick demo.

  • @zeonflare i almost died when i saw it. it looks amazing.

  • Very good vidéo 5*****

  • this is so sick... You need to post more videos.

  • if you know alesis very well i was wondering if i could ask you a couple questions about it. i just bought the keybaord yesterday and im still trying to get the just of it. ive learned some interesting loops, but i still have some questions. if you could help?

  • hei man but it's necessary to connect the micron to the pc^????

  • No, it is not! I own a micron. You can use it as a midi controller if you want but is a perfect synth on its own.

  • thanks a lot man

  • Fantastic tune and demo. Alesis needs to hire you.

  • good one!

  • fucking awesome

  • Such an amazing jam. I was thinking of getting a microKorg, but reading up on the Micron, I'll definitely get the Micron instead.

Plus, it has it's own sequencer and it's the same price =D

  • You wrote that? It's very professional keep on rolling dude

  • Sick tune, dreamy melodies :P

  • You can't comprehend how much I want to buy one of these now.

  • can it also make a normal piano sound?
