  • Hey, do you guy know any other exercises like this? I know the exercise with a medican ball and sledg hammer swings, but do you guys know any more?

  • Pacquiao uses this as part of his training regimen

  • Superset this one with the Full Contact Twist. BRUTAL.

  • man dont do this! when you destroy your arms, shoulder, back you will have no power and it is a bad exercise for anything

  • I dont have any knockout power but im 24-0. knockout power would help, but im doing good so far with no real ko power

  • @milkenkookies bullshit!

  • These exercises are great. However, punching power has alot to do with build, fast twitch fibers and technique. Two of those are genetic. Some people never get ko power :\

  • Yes, I wonder how frequently it should be done to maximise it's effectivness and to avoid overtraing with it?

  • should i do this every other day????

  • Good stuff, thanks for uploading.

  • The movement is effective but the execution shown in the video features a range of motion through the legs that is deeper than most punches; when punching, most punches are not thrown from a complete crouch position (though some are, particularly counters thrown after a crouch position is taken to avoid the opponent's strike). When adding this exercise to a training routine, vary the deepness of the stance between sessions to accomodate for varying punches.

  • I know you posted this a while ago but just thought i'd share my oppinion. I do agree with you, however the excercise still is working the same fundamental muscles and movements involved in a normal punch - the twist in the hip and shoulder and the extension of the arm.

So i still believe that this would be a useful "addition" to a training program, i also use the technique of shadow boxing with dumbells :)

  • You can use a dumbell for these according to Juan Carlos Santana.... Don't know what Gile's take is on it but

  • man your videos are really helpful but i dont have a bar at home. would i be able to use a dumbell for that exercise?

  • @philchangster That's a negative. This is a rotational movement. The barbell provides a pivot, and without that this exercise would just be a front squat and press. Sure, those are also good exercises in themselves, but they won't do all that much for your punching power.

  • @philchangster craigslist

  • thanks .. really nice work.

  • With this, I should be able to perfect my Dragon Punch.

  • WHAT? You have a Dragon Punch too???? You should also try the Spinning Triple Lizard Kick!!!

  • Will certainly try this at home... thanks
