@creamz0r Absolutely... Great production. People forget... Most of the greats were on dynasty franchises (LA, Boston...) but who was Chicago 'bulls' before MJ ? That goes to show you... 1 Mind, 1 Player with the right Heart - right talent - and right body - CAN be bigger than the game. If there were a gospel to past/present and future of basketball.... Michael Jordan is the alpha and omega.
We can not see "The Artistry of Michael Jordan I" in Germany due to copyright issues of the music... I am downloading part I now from: Thank you very much for all this great MJ videos, you are our YouTube hero , cheers
"The Artistry of Michael Jordan II" and "Artistry of Michael Jordan II - B" are both the best 10 minutes videos I have ever seen. And I am a soccer fan! MJ is the greatest sportsman of all sports. Where can I find "The Artistry of Michael Jordan Part I"?
D. Wade has the closest body grace and motion to Michaels than really anyone. Kobe hasn't got the same leg flare about him, and when does certain things..you can just tell it's from watching tape of others.
As a young girl in the 80/90's from Ottawa Canada, I can honestly say that this was the man who made aware that there were other sports outside of hockey. Basketball became real to me after seeing him take his last second shots (as if he was facing the eye of a storm) with such calm and grace that I swear I cried then, and still tear up till this day. Love you MJ
@RossRose26 Ty!! It was me and my dad always (mom passed young) and we shared a love for sports..and M.J. Thank you for saying what you said. Miss him every second, every minute, everyday. *good tears* thanks again. God Bless
WTF is wrong with the NBA? they always show the same jordan moves over and over again in their videos and highlight reels. its as though they are too embarrassed how Jordan owned their league back in the day.
@josette5 MJ. Lebron runs with duck feet if you look closely, Jordan had a much more efficient stride. Lebron is incredibly faster for his height and weight but Jordan is faster. Thats part of the reason he could do the incredible free throw dunks, he generated alot of speed like a long jumper.
@headbanger015 That's a misconception. MJ did blow by opponents with crossovers and spin moves, especially in his younger years. But because he scored in a variety of ways this often gets overlooked.
@SamuraiSwoosh you are probably right, but again that was when MJ was in wizard right? If MJ were still in bulls years, artest might be just another anthony mason to MJ. On strength wise, artest can match up on MJ, but on the speed/agility wise, there is no match. Just a thought here.
Υeah...and also Bruce Bowen...I remember Ray Allen calling him a dirty player in a press conference after a playoff game when he was playing for the Sonics...
Yeah!Thats the best rejection ever if u ask me.Another great rejection that comes to mind is one where Ewing was on a break,JR Rider was the only defensive player around.Ewing went up for a dunk n JR rejected him!Another great block is one that Kemp had on Drexler where he tried to dunk it with two hands and Kemp sent the ball to the stands!Another great block also by Kemp was one against Mark Price where he tried a layup and Kemp went up, his head rim level and also spiked it outta bounds!
U should also consider that he played for an extremely talented Suns team...Barkley, KJ, Majerle and Ainge could pretty much score a butt-load of points and they had to spread the wealth...I never saw him as a superstar neither...but I saw him as a future superstar but he screwed up bigtime with drugs...
But whats amazing about that guy is that after 4 operations on his ankles he came back each and every time and he became an all star once again...that goes to show u that one should never say die...never give up...and that it aint over til the fat lady sings...or as Rocky would say...I aint heard no bell!
It's a damn shame that Richard Dumas messed up his life and his career with drugs and shit...he was a great talent...great athlete...coulda been a superstar...much in the mold of a Grant Hill...and speaking of him...it's damn shame that injuries deprived him of his prime...cuz he coulda gone down as one of the greatest players ever...he was that good...
Yeah...I heard that it was cuz Mike was on fire and Artest couldnt stop him (who could anyway?) and MJ was letting him know about it with trash talking...
Υeah...that's one of the best blocks ever...but my all-time favorite rejection is the one tha LaPhonso Ellis had on poor T-Wolves schmuck that tried to dunk the ball on him...
Its Richard Dumas. Tony Dumas was another player that played later on in 95 for the Mavs if Im correct.DanMajerle was also a pretty good defensive player.KJ was a freak of nature with his athleticism when healthy. He has thrown down some of the sickest dunks I've ever seen, like the one on Olajuwon, which KJ said was the higlight of his career (afterDream rejecting the ball outta bounds coming outta nowhere,a what seemed to be an easy deuce),the one on Hot-Rod Williams and the one on Mark Eaton.
Yeah...I know that...it's just that I didnt have space to write that KG arrived in the NBA in 95 and TD in 97...the amazing thing about MJ is that even at the age of 40 and with a bum knee he was still one of the best players in the world...remember the buzzer beater he hit on the Cavs (I remember that game cuz I watched it live on ESPN and I went nuts after the final shot) and also the one hit over Marion after after a fake...
Yeah but Barkley is one of the great players who had the bad luck to be playing in the same era as MJ...remember that the Chuckster went against MJ in the 93 finals...that Suns team was pretty darn good...and I think in 2day's game they woulda gone all the way...that is to say if MJ isnt playing...
Ιt's just that Barkley offensively could do it all, even more than Garnett.Cuz he could also shoot the 3ball,but defensively Garnett and Duncan are better. But then again u have a guy like McHale, who was a very good defender and shotblocker with those long arms and even though TD n KG have very nice moves around the basket themselves(Im sure thatKG learnt something fromMcHale while he was the general manager of the T-Wolves)the only guy that can be compared to McHales post moves is "the Dream"
Yeah...same thing happened to Pistol Pete Maravich...great ball player and a great show but he spent almost his entire career playing for mediocre teams like the Hawks and the Jazz and when he went to the Celts, they won the chip next season after he retired...that sucks man!
TD and KG also played in the Jordan era...and even though I love them to death...I dont think they're better than Barkley who's my all time favorite pf...and Kevin McHale...some other people like Karl Malone but he was never one of my favorites...other two guys that I really loved were C-Webb and Derrick Coleman...
Maybe I didn't mention them cuz they're somewhat over the hill..but both of them are two of my favorite ball players of all time...especially Garnett man...he could do almost everything but hit from downtown...
Οh yeah...u r right about KG and Slamduncan...it's just that Garnett didn't have a great season statistically last year...and about Stoudamire I hope he doesn't get injured again...
Dammit Mike! Why the hell did u have to grow old? I mean imagine what he'd do to this watered down league with the 3 seconds defensive no handchecking allowed outside the lane rule? And let's not forget that the only legit big man right now is D-Howard and Gasol...Yao, is injury prone and Shaq aint as young a spring chicken no more...
Hey hoops could you put together an MJ career dunk compilation. From collage till his final retirement as a wizard...in that order. A sort of three part series as your currently doing now. I'm dying to see a story told in chronological order rather than a mixed compilation,... youtube is full of that.
Would tell a great story about the man's air athleticism aside from his moves. I believe your the person to do it.
really sick videos hoops. Ive been a fan of Mj's since i was a kid growin up in chicago, but your videos really take apart the intricacies of jordans game. I feel bad for the youngins who missed out on jordans best years. Im sure i speak for many of your viewers, thanks for putting all this together.
Finally a vid that shows MJ in his early years, maybe this will stop the Kobe has a better this and that.....Jordan doing crossovers, hesitations which was harder to do back then, the only time you really got to show those things were either in transition or fastbreak opportunities, due to handchecking. Look at his speed and first step, unmatched today.
He was incredibly fast, people are always marveling at how fast lebron is and no doubt he is fast but MJ at this age was a step ahead.. Thats the one thing that stands out. HE had amazing control in the air and could manipulate his body to get the fouls he needed. He as was a lock down defender. I wouldnt say MJs long range game was weak, just because he liked to go inside but I also wouldnt say he is the best. As far as inside goes, he was on another level. His advantage was his drive.
please make a part IIII please, every day im thinking about a part IIII this is the only good michael jordan videos in the world, you are the best , thanks for the work, and please make a part IIII
hoops, i just wanna say that i enjoy all of your videos. i can tell that you put just as much time and effort into this video as you do with all your other videos. being 21 years old, i dont remember much of the "vintage" jordan, back when he was just a young buck. i remember there was a time when i actually thought kobe was at MJ's level....how foolish of me. watching your videos has changed my thought process completely
The dunk at 3:03 is vintage Young Jordan. He used to do that move all the time, the lightning first step, 1 dribble eating up about 15-20 feet of space, tip-toeing the sideline where there is seemingly no room, elevate sidewards and back towards the lane, ball in one hand and dunking so quickly that the help defense has no time to get over. Classic Mike, the explosion just unparalleled before or since.
man every time i watch him i get goosebumps. kobe and lebron are good but nowhere near his airness, the guy was graceful even when he dunked in your face. imagine if he was as big as lebron...
Damn watchin MJ do his thing is a thing of beauty...Im so blessed to have been born in 1977...kids 2day dont know nothing about the NBA in the 80s and the 90s...and that's why they say that LeBron and Kobe are better than MJ which is absolutely ridiculous if u take into account the type of defense that he faced...
Yeah...getting old sucks man...especially we dont get the chance to see MJ do his thing at 46...but who knows? He might make a comeback at 50...he's crazy enough to do it...lol...I'd watch though...who knows? He might teach young cats a thing or two...
Still to this day I haven't seen a player attack the basket with the grace and power as Jordan did. OMG I thought King James was insane until I check out Jordan 1988 season HOLY S***** you were poster. Never and mean NEVER give this guy baseline!
i don't get it hoops. Other videos like jordan plays slam baller 1 on 1 gets like half a MILL views and yours gets less? People are missing out on this, This deserves to be in the millions. I myself use these videos as inspiration.
n3bulous : Your concept equations are purely discombobulated !! There are guys that have potential to have the same exact number or stats on a daily basis and Kobe might come as close to today's standard but as far as the rest of the guys.....they need to step up more....defense of today are nothing like those of the 80's and 90's trust me .....The NBA today are so watered down and lacking the right discipline and hard work...players now are basking on their rich and famous lifestyle w/o heart.
Had to watch this again, his hang time and balance to still get off good shots was simply amazing...for any other NBA player in history, some of these shots would be a bad decision, for him it was another day at the office.
hey hoops is there a website where this can be download for personal viewing and study lol? i downloaded part 1 in hd a while ago, and would like to know where I can get the other ones.
do you understand the concept of basketball? michael is the greatest. mcgrady, even if he put in work and never had an injury shouldn't even be mentioned in the same breath. therefore the equation is flawed. also, i like how you came back after an hour to go at me again. u mad?
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
if i told you 100 - 99 = 1, and you told me any formula that starts with 100 and ends with 1 is really fucking flawed, then I'd tell you to go back to high school and get your GED
your giving these guys too much credit... t-mac isn't a better passer then Michael, if you say t-mac has better handles(which i don't know if i agree with) ill say that Michael didn't need "crossovers" because he used body control and footwork to get open, this separates him from both Kobe and Lebron as well. you can put shot selection in there for all three as well
@noelh98: jordan was a capable passer, but he wasn't a great passer. he was criticized early in his career for not trusting his teammates and passing only when he absolutely had to. but who can blame him? i'd rather him have the ball 100% of the time than any of his teammates.
I love these tributes to MJ Hoops a good reminder or reminisce of MJ's career before his HOF induction on September 11.......thinking about it that's the same day as 9/11
One big thing that separates MJ from Lebron, D-wade, Kobe, or anyone similar is his ability to react instantly to a defensive movement. He never seems like he is in too tough of a jam or taking too difficult of a shot because he always repositions either himself or the ball away from the reach of the defense. Kobe, while great, always seems to be taking an impossibly difficult shot because he doesn't react on the fly in the same way, and therefore settles for a tougher shot, which he often makes

His advantage was his drive.
willsmackyoudown 2 years ago
A step ahead? I think MJ is like, HUNDREDS, of steps ahead of LeBron!
Fanboy..?
odhit 2 years ago
lol dont get defensive. I never said Lebron was on MJ's level, I was only talking about how fast they were. MJ was a little bit faster.

hoops, i just wanna say that i enjoy all of your videos. i can tell that you put just as much time and effort into this video as you do with all your other videos. being 21 years old, i dont remember much of the "vintage" jordan, back when he was just a young buck. i remember there was a time when i actually thought kobe was at MJ's level....how foolish of me. watching your videos has changed my thought process completely

KISSING THE RIM@ 10:38 (the dunk MJ himself said was his game time greatest)..I agree!

man every time i watch him i get goosebumps. kobe and lebron are good but nowhere near his airness, the guy was graceful even when he dunked in your face. imagine if he was as big as lebron...

Damn watchin MJ do his thing is a thing of beauty...Im so blessed to have been born in 1977...kids 2day dont know nothing about the NBA in the 80s and the 90s...and that's why they say that LeBron and Kobe are better than MJ which is absolutely ridiculous if u take into account the type of defense that he faced...
flight23magic32 2 years ago 6
Same age, 1997.
I totally agree dude.

1997? Ι think u meant 1977 dude...
flight23magic32 2 years ago
Yes, 1977, sorry but I am getting old LOL
BasketBoffalora 2 years ago
Yeah...getting old sucks man...especially we dont get the chance to see MJ do his thing at 46...but who knows? He might make a comeback at 50...he's crazy enough to do it...lol...I'd watch though...who knows? He might teach young cats a thing or two...

Still to this day I haven't seen a player attack the basket with the grace and power as Jordan did. OMG I thought King James was insane until I check out Jordan 1988 season HOLY S***** you were poster. Never and mean NEVER give this guy baseline!

Thanks for the video Hoops.
I'm wondering: has anybody seen a clip of Jordan making this sick move on Brent Barry?
I've been looking for that everywhere. I think it was from a Heat/Bulls game in the 96-97 season.

Hoopsencyclopedia, dude your videos of Jordan are the best by far. This is the best video I've seen. Basketball= Jordan
The man was defended by: Barkley, drexler, starks, hardaway, payton, kemp, dumars, dominique wilkins, majerle, Magic, Rodman, oakley, glenn rice, mitch richmond, rolando blackman.. owned everyone of them.. GOAT

n3bulous : Your concept equations are purely discombobulated !!
JCOOL2329 2 years ago
Had to watch this again, his hang time and balance to still get off good shots was simply amazing...for any other NBA player in history, some of these shots would be a bad decision, for him it was another day at the office.

MVP, DPOY and Scoring Title in the same year.
7 straight triple doubles.
MJ did everything.
Nuff said.

I love watching MJ in 96-98. It's the closest thing in real life to an old kung fu master who can kick the youngsters' butts and make it look easy.
killerecho 2 years ago 7
So I guess the twilight MJ of 01-03 was the grand "wizard" master who schooled the young dogs
Brandoni73 2 years ago
Yes but it was a master who'd been "handicapped" by the injuries and knee surgeries and mediocre teammates.
killerecho 2 years ago
This is true

MJ - everything except hops = James White :)

This comment has received too many negative votes show
MJ + better passing - skills - craftiness = Lebron
MJ - hops = Kobe
MJ + better handles + better passing - heart = T-Mac
n3bulous 2 years ago
you forgot "- knees" for mcgrady. doesn't matter, any formula that starts with jordan and ends with t-mac is really fucking flawed.

do you understand the concept of equations?
n3bulous 2 years ago
do you understand the concept of basketball? michael is the greatest. mcgrady, even if he put in work and never had an injury shouldn't even be mentioned in the same breath. therefore the equation is flawed. also, i like how you came back after an hour to go at me again. u mad?

if i told you 100 - 99 = 1, and you told me any formula that starts with 100 and ends with 1 is really fucking flawed, then I'd tell you to go back to high school and get your GED
n3bulous 2 years ago
WTF don't you go back to high school to get your High School Diploma.
lol
JCFan427 2 years ago 2
your giving these guys too much credit... t-mac isn't a better passer then Michael, if you say t-mac has better handles(which i don't know if i agree with) ill say that Michael didn't need "crossovers" because he used body control and footwork to get open, this separates him from both Kobe and Lebron as well. you can put shot selection in there for all three as well
noelh98 2 years ago 3
@noelh98: jordan was a capable passer, but he wasn't a great passer. he was criticized early in his career for not trusting his teammates and passing only when he absolutely had to. but who can blame him? i'd rather him have the ball 100% of the time than any of his teammates.
n3bulous 2 years ago
I love these tributes to MJ Hoops a good reminder or reminisce of MJ's career before his HOF induction on September 11.......thinking about it that's the same day as 9/11

3:39 - I can honestly say I have NEVER seen this move by MJ!! Rivals Dr. J's own classic under, behind, and around the backboard move. BEAUTIFUL!

williest1 2 years ago
Outtakes or not, this video is great...I can't believe I'm still seeing some highlights for the first time, how many does he really have? Wow...
MichaelJordanTube 2 years ago 2
One big thing that separates MJ from Lebron, D-wade, Kobe, or anyone similar is his ability to react instantly to a defensive movement. He never seems like he is in too tough of a jam or taking too difficult of a shot because he always repositions either himself or the ball away from the reach of the defense. Kobe, while great, always seems to be taking an impossibly difficult shot because he doesn't react on the fly in the same way, and therefore settles for a tougher shot, which he often makes
