Not making excuses but it sucks he had to have that long layoff and multiple surgeries, as well as lack of training coaches/ partners. I hate how people are ignorant and want to write off shogun as quickly as possible when he CLEARLY wasn't near his best on that day. Making excuses for his loss? No. But you call yourself an MMA fan and can't tell when a fighter is in top condition vs. poor condition? Gtfo.

yes shogun was not even close to 100% when he fought jones, he had a long layoff, knee surgery which we know gravely effects his cardio, and he also did not train with good sparring partners, now when he is back at kings mma he will improve immensly, and i have no doubt at all that he could beat jones in a rematch.

compare that to anderson silva who himself made an excuse about the rib injury while people have found videos of him easily doing flying knees prior to the sonnen fight

He fought Jones in Mar which leaves him at the max 10 month to do the surgery and recover and we are talking about someone with a history of knee problems. Jon Jones is a beast no doubt. and Even though Shogun himself never used it as an excuse, but it was too obvious that he was rusty as hell and didn't have the cardio needed to compete for a title. shogun vs jones 2!

That's a difference of 60 days. 60 extra days of training would make a world of difference when it comes to improving someone's cardio. 10 month is the maximum time shogun could have had and that's given if he did his surgery immediately after the machida fight. the fact you even tried to round shit up shows your insecurity. and you just stated 'jones is a fag'

Jones bullied him standing up and on the ground. Jones is far far ahead of Shogun right now and yes Shogun COULD improve but who do you think is going to improve more the 24 year old Jones who has been doing MMA for four years or the 29 year old shogun who has been in MMA for like 10 years.

Shogun could definitely have knocked jones out if he had been healthy, and if he had been training at kings mma, he barely prepared himself at all for the jones fight. id bet shogun takes the rematch, but rampage is probably gonna finish jones first, nevermind that in a few years, jones is gonna have to fight at heavweight because he wont be able to make the huge cut anymore.

shogun takes the rematch, but rampage is gonna knock jones out first anyway.

@camdizlefoshizle Bones was still in good shape from his fight with Ryan Bader at UFC 126. When you injure your leg, you can't do virtually anything to train cardio, and at the level these guys are competing, that is a really serious thing to deal with.
And im not the type of fan that likes to make excuses for my favorite fighters. Rua accepted his loss like a man, so so can i. Rua lost, fair and square, Bones was the better man that night.

Machida definitely had a lot of hype, and I was amazed how badly he lost to Shogun in their second fight.
But unlike his peers, Jones has a lot of time on his side. Even if he loses the belt he can make a comeback no problem.
