Sorry everyone, you're correct, Felix IS Jaco's son. I get David Pastorius mixed up with Felix. David is Jaco's neph. and Felix is Jaco's son. Thanks for the correction.
It seems like every great musician out there is just waiting for Felix to be the next big thing, All of these videos its like the guys jamming with him and prepared to witness something phenominal, and he's just like, right there, clearly at the point where he couldnt be any closer to being something phenominal. Already a spectacular player though, none the less.
i wish they would do a duo album like antonio did with charlie haden except it would be felix on the electric bass they would be awesome and the quality would be much better and downloadable on amazon hint hint!!!

i do not like what Felix is playing! I cannot even hear him play CLEARLY- The sound has very POOR quality, he seems to be drowned out! guitarist sounds okay though.
Felix is the man, he will likely be as good if not better than his more than talented Father Bass Player. This guy is young and in his prime for a long time. So keep on kickin it Felix!
Felix is sounding good these days but he needs to watch his right hand because he's headed for some serious health problems with it later. The angle he's holding it at will surely lead to CTS or tendonitis, etc. It's better to correct it now before it gets to that point. I play bass as well but work in the medical field so am conscious about these issues.
i think these two had some amazing chemistry i dont know for the life of me why they dont go on tour with it just these felix and antonio and a drummer only on certain licks that would kick ass or with a dude on congas for certain licks would be better
Shopping Music dude? seriously? felix is obviously gifted, and when you have reached the poi nt that he and many other jazz/fusion players reach, playing that fast is second nature. also, if you had better ears you could hear the beauty of the phrases and exactly where each phrase is going. so the amount of notes and things you mention is of no matter when it all adds up in the end. You just can't hear that well, no offense.
Somewhere right now there's a kid about 5 or 6 years old playing bass in his big brother's or sister's garage. He's going to be doing that for the next 10 or 15 years and when people hear that kid they'll be amazed at how "talented" the kid is. Behind all "talented" musicians is an almost OCD work ethic.
I think to a certain point when you're that good at an instrument it really all runs together and sounds like shopping music. I am not knocking because they are amazing but use that talent to heal our music industry not continue to show how many notes, sigs, time sigs, fast you can play.
You have to take your hat off to Felix. It takes a brave man to try to follow in such a famous fathers' footsteps. He could've chosen drums or guitar or whatever, and never been compared to his dad. But he chose bass. If he'd come up even slightly short he would've looked a novelty, but he has obviously inherited Mr Talent Incarnate's natural talent.
@SisterAbdullahX Felix made a great choice to play bass, he got his dad's mojo for it. Julius Pastorius (Felix's twin brother) is the one playing the drums - and does quite well at it too. Jaco played drums before the bass, so maybe Julius got some of that mojo too. :)
It is almost if Jaco reincarnated himself in his son. so similar in style! Kid has got it!

This is not a Patitucci tune...it's Chick Corea' s 'Spain'

John Patitucci should be watching this rendition of one of his tunes.

Jaco was Felix's Uncle not his father.
nycfunk 1 year ago
@nycfunk According to the Pastorius family site, Felix was one of Jaco's sons, born in 1982.

@nycfunk Felix is his son. David, another insane bass player is his nephew.

look at his right hand, same position Jaco had....
hippolyteb 1 year ago
@hippolyteb actually Jaco's right hand position changes up all the time, depending on desired tone, but you're right, look at the similarity!

The good thing about the bass, is that you can't normally hear it....but you can feel it even more than a guitar

Some people will complain about anything. How is music talent going to heal the music industry? If that's your goal stop buying their product.
