@NARFNra That's actually because the coding of the game was very basic. It could only detect one item at a time back then, so they needed 8 guards. It's kind of like RPG maker 2003 (where you can activate an event if you have a specific item) So no, it wasn't that awesome, but I'll admit that it was funny.

@NeoArashi Yeah, but even the new games are still basic. Actually they DON'T check off that you have the badges. Trust me, if you can walk through the walls and talk to the guards, they're automatically set to say "Oh you have the -- badge!" The reason being is that you have to walk through all the cities to get the badges anyway, so they don't program the events like so. I've tested it myself on Diamond version and I'm sure it's the same for every other game after the G/S series. It's funny. :D

@MrFavorite01 That's where you are wrong. You CAN get trhough Victory Road and get to the Pokemon League with only 7 badges legitely (no glitch abuse, no cheats) in R,S and E (Fortree City gym is completely optional UNTIL you want to face the Elite 4, before then, you can get the 7th and 8th badges and go trhough the Victory road with only 7 badges). If you manage to do so (and I've tried) The guards WON'T let you trhough. Of course, when you use cheats like you did, it messes the game's coding.
