Nathan, this is a wonderful video! I loved the way you put it together. I adore Judi Dench!!!! I like anything she is in...anything. She is BRILLIANT!!! Now you've got me wanting to see "Peter's Friends" again. Such a great ensemble cast! At the end you say it's time to do a shoutout video...hehehe. Yes, it is Nathan...yes, it is. lol ((HUGS))
LOL! I've been putting it off - because it's going to need some thought and I've been so busy with work and Christmas coming up, etc. But I will. I will! :-D
..."she's just a wild and wicked slut"..? I've not heard that in lyrics before!! Kristy was a real chameleon.. her 'look' seemed to change from one clip to the next in your video. I also heard "Soho Square" sang, so is that how you got your name?
Like you, I listen to songs I like to death and can't hear them anymore and I like a wide variety but for some reason my all-time favourite song is "Africa" by Toto. I have happy kind of memories linked to it. But I'm rambling about me..! I found you via your special tribute video on Lisa's channel :-)
I'd forgotten about the movie 'Peter's Friends'.. I saw it on video years ago. Come to think of it..I've not seen it on TV before, I wonder why? Whereas movies like 'Love Actually' have been on about 5 times in the last year (And 'About a Boy')..here in Australia. Anyway, I enjoyed your answers. Cheers, Maria.
Thanks for the comments, Maria; I enjoyed reading them. I think the major reason that Kirty might look different in the videos is that there are quite a few years inbetween some of them. I like songs that evoke happy memories - and also ones that evoke sad ones sometimes. Thanks for stopping by :-)
(((Lizzzzz!)))) I've missed you!!!! I doubt I'll be singing the shout out - but I'm singing for joy that you've showed up again! Grrrrrrrrrrreat to 'see' you :)
Hi P!
This was REALLy great the way you put this together! And I loved that you turned the tables a bit and made almost a 10 minute video response to one of my vids! Also, Is that song the reason you have the name SohoSquare? Or is it because of the place which just happened to have a song as well?
LOL! I also thought it ironic that your video was short and that I made such a long response. Glad you approved. You're absolutely right about the song being the reason for my user name. It's one of my favourites. (In my 'recite the lyrics' video, I drunkenly do just that). :-) Thanks for the stars :)
This really was a brilliant video. I love how you took a simple idea and built on it, showing your deep love for some of these things. I wasn't going to answer my own quesitons to my video, but seeing the way you did it really inspired me to probably do so! :)
You should! I'd be interested to know your answers to your questions.. and I don't think I've ever seen someone answer their own questions before :-))
Actually, if you look at the related videos to this, I did a questionnaire similar to this over the summer. I did a response video to my own video as Darth Vader, kind of the first time I went into comedy. Check it out if you want, I'm quite proud of it! :)
I saw it! actually when I first started to watch it I thought it was your own response to this one... but it soon became evident that I was wrong. not the first time ;)
What a cool collection of sounds and images, Nathan! And thank you for the nod at the end here. I am equally honored you take the time to click on my madness.
:-)
It struck me while watching this, thinking back to when you first began talking to us through your camera, that you have come a long way in this vloggery stuff. The increased comfort level as you speak WITH us in these videos is heartening to see.
The feeling is entirely mutual, my friend. My increasing comfort in front of the camera is primarily down to you, and to the people with whom I converse here. You're right, I feel more as though I were speaking 'with' rather than 'at' you folks :) It's fun sharing this kind of stuff :) Thanks!
This is a wonderful response video! What superb editing and you have broadened my horizons in this one short video...and wondering if the username originated while thinking about or listening to that song ?
Ah, Minn. Such a lovely comment. Thank you! You're absolutely right about my user name. In my 'recite the lyrics' video, which I recorded half cut after a cocktail party, I recite the whole lyric. But it's advisable to just buy the record ;-)))
Thought you'd like that :) I'm not sure if it was ever released ... I just have that rare live recording. The Drug Addix was long over by the time I got into Kirsty.
Dame Judy Dench!! yes!!!oh I need to make an addition to mine...again. gah. I've never seen Peter's Friends but what a Marvelous cast! I'll have to find it. Have you seen Still Crazy? Another favorite!! (hundreds more to follow) A remarkable reply Nat xxx
I've not seen Still Crazy.. must look that one up as it comes so highly recommended. Is Dame Judi in it? ;-) Saw Atonement the other night - great film. With a cameo role by Vanessa Redgrave: another great. Considering how much I adore Maggie Smith too, I wonder if I have a fixation with older English ladies? ;-)
Ah, yes. I like Billy - he played alongside Dame Judi in Mrs Brown. LOL. I looked it up and it looks like a good film - about a rock group reforming after many years. A bit like the Spice Girls ;-)))
Yes, a tragic loss. I've got a couple of rarities but I'm envious about the picture disc. Lucky you :) I think I may have to make the shout out video in two parts - there are so many to shout out about :-)
Poor you. Being your own boss isn't as much fun as I thought it must be ;) You'll only need a couple of hours to learn the editing to my standards.. honest! :)
I watched this twice Nathan, and I just may again. I could listen to you yarn about music for hours. You really have a perfect voice for commentary. This was a waaay above average video response - it stands on it's own, even though Gary's video did prompt it. (Still waiting for his answers!) I love how connected you are to music, and how it's a part of your soul. I guess I have always been attracted to people with this characteristic. :)
Nathan I love Abba and Kirsty MacColl! Yes I agree with Judi Dench. She is simply amazing and one of my favorites as well. I've never seen Peter's Friends but upon your recommendation, I promise to see it very soon. -Jim
Hi Jim! You have good taste, my friend. Peter's Friends is one to watch around Christmas time ... let me know what you, as a southener, thought of this very English film. :-)
A shout out?? No Doubt!! LOL You did wonderfully trying to pick favorites! On each of those questions there were HUNDREDS of things that popped into my mind, so I just can't answer any favs. I'm sooo fickle as my favs tend to run in moods...:-)
Caylyn, fickle is a great word. I'm fickle about the works of art - but not about the artists. I'm very loyal to my favourite artists... which is why I often loads of CDs by each artist or books by each author :)
*clears throat* ABBA??? lol. Actually, Frida I always preferred to Agnet...oh, not your answer. Kirsty McColl, great choice. Dame Judy also a great choice, a superb shakespearean actress. I like Bette Davis and Kate Winslet for the now. "Peter's Friends" I haven't seen so shall check it out- The Godfather for my movie. Excellent answers and ways of answering them. Good to see you Nathan. :)
What? Whaaaat? Abba is cool! (I got teased awfully at school for being a fan ... these days they're recognised as being cult pop) :-) Peter's Friends and The Godfather are as far apart as toenail clippings and whipped cream (unless you're kinky)... but it's one I like. Saw Atonement last night in the cinema and cried my eyes out LOL. Good to see you too :-)
Pop cult eh?? I'm always wary of cults lol. As for The Godfather, maybe they'll make a musical from it. If they can do it to "Titanic" anything's possible- i'd love to write the lyric for "Horses Head Boogie".
Have you ever seen "Brief Encounter" with Celia Johnson and Trvor Howard? Tis an old 48 black and white but what a touching film. Trust me, you'll use a whole box of Kleenex.. and a toilet roll too. :)

Big heaps o thanks from here for the grrrrreat welcome! :D

Alles Gute. P.
