How long did it take for your piranha to get use to his tank? Mine is 8in and just sits on the bottom and doesn't eat. He has been doing that since I got him 7 days ago.
Awsome man, thanks for replying to my previous question. I have a 5" mac and cant wait till he gets the size of yours! I keep watching this vid lol. Think you can post another updated vid, possibly longer?
I want 1 willing to handle people in the same room. The red belly piranhas are too paranoid for my taste. I want something that's tough and aggressive, but not fearful of humans:P
Probably depends on the one you get but yes these piranhas are generally less timid than red bellies. Mine isn't timid at all, he loves attention and will chase us and the cats as we walk by his tank.
Some people are retarded, not all piranhas live in shoals. I.E. A black piranha, you only keep one because they will become aggressive with one another
Hi guys I got a vid of my 2 red belly piranhas and its jsut basicly a preview of my piranhas, I've had Pirahnas my whole life and i will upload feeding videos of them Live food and Normal Pellets, check me out and good feeding videos coming soon!
i lost 2 red bellies to getting sick from feeder fish...thats why i got smart and started feeding them shrimp amd tilapia and when i do feed them live fish ill get a comet or koi fish that is a little bit larger and not bred and kept in such tight quarters.
@alcoholic2anextreme it would be ok ocationally but their main diet should be fish or shrimp...like it would be in the wild...i know that they cant digest red meat very well (they cant digest the fats) but im not sure about poultry.
raw turkey meat would be(I feed him raw chicken meat on occasion), I don't see how you could feed a fish ground turkey meat, it would make a huge mess in the tank.
Beautiful fish, ive got two RBP's, they eat crickets, superworms and adult brine shrimp. I used to feed them feeders when they were juvies but feeders arent as nutritious, aha i work at petland so im well educated. I noticed that once I changed to crickets, superworms, and brine shrimp that their personalitiy changed. They used to be lazy bastards but now there insane! Possibly the protien and fat in the bugs giving them energy, anyways decent fish!

I like Piranha so thank you for posting a vid of a pretty fish that doesn't cater to the needs of sadists. I like watching them eat, I just hate watching them rip living creatures apart. So yeah, thank you for posting one a decent human can enjoy.
whats wrong with feeder fish...???i feed my red belly piranha's goldfish but there babies right now..i only feed them like one big one a day between 14 of them..but i also feed them blood worms too and shrimp..
They carry diseases - if you insist on them you should set up a quarantine tank and keep them for 3-4 weeks before giving them to your piranhas. You can also control what they eat during that time which in turn is what your piranhas will partly be eating.
Or you could breed your own feeders, convicts and mollies are easy to breed.
@shaun3344 i get the goldfish from petsmart. what kind of diseases? and keeping them in a quarantine tank for 3-4 weeks does what? i really dont want to harm my piranha's so id rather not take the chance but i love the way they destroy the goldfish in seconds...lol.. there about 2" right now so i might switch to a baby mouse. thats not their main diet, they get blood worms and other meats during the week for their main food source.
I'm not an expert on fish diseases but I know ick is a common one in feeders.
By quarantining them you will ensure that they don't have anything + you will no doubt be giving them better care and food then a store like Petsmart does. Try to find a locally owned store to get feeders from instead, one that has a large feeder tank with plenty of filtration, buying feeders at PS is a terrible idea and you're just asking for trouble......
@shaun3344 thanks...ill take you advise, makes sense too...i think ill go with minnows from the bait store cause they have a big feeder / bait tank and unlike PM theres not a bunch of dead ones in the tank too..
@shaun3344 Buying from any pet store, ick is always on them. It may not seem like it but I bought a fish before from Petsmart and within a couple of days, my fish just blew up in ick and it was just disgusting.
@4BOAS20 be carefull of feeding them gold fish breeders put chemicals in there food to make them brighter wich can give piranha growth problems i.e cancer i used to feed mine gold fish untill i was told this by a piranha breeder .i used to give them frozen white bait but obviously defrost it
You can get beef heart from a butcher, cleaner and leaner meat wont pollute the tank. Have him grind it up like he would hamburger. Fill ziplock bags and flatten em out kinda thin, toss in freezer. you can break off pieces then.
Frozen krill and shrimp, other store bought fish and algae tabs make up most of his diet. Stay away from feeder fish. He is over 8 years old and doubt he would be with a steady diet of them.
your piranha seems to be a bit of a steak conissiure he likes to savour it a bit , it is good to show a piranha that has table maners. ps GAY!GAY!GAY!
Hes the owner of the fish so dont complain over how someone Takes care of their pets and i do have 4 pirahnas and they HATE to hunt,Look it up on google,Smart one.

put a 2 inch gold with my shoal of 16 red bellies sized 2 inch to 3.5 inches for about 4 days and he has divided the tank even though he is smaller only about 6 of the reds are tough enough to stand up to him the rest will be given away before they are killed i think as long as your tank is huge it is very possible to shoal a gold if the fish you put it in with are tough enough
I just got my 3 Gold Spilo...don't get me wrong they don't love each other..but they are not ripping each other apart...a little bit of circling and chasing each other at first..but they settled down and all still have thier fins. For the most part they seem to respect each other and focusing on chasing rosey reds

@shaun3344 Can't really keep him in a group of others though right?
I like breeding fish, and I like keeping monster fish.

But the red bellies (easy to breed) are starting to sound to wimpy if I'm going to take that as a direction.
