  • How long did it take for your piranha to get use to his tank? Mine is 8in and just sits on the bottom and doesn't eat. He has been doing that since I got him 7 days ago.

  • Awsome man, thanks for replying to my previous question. I have a 5" mac and cant wait till he gets the size of yours! I keep watching this vid lol. Think you can post another updated vid, possibly longer?

  • @VinceCya

posted, won't let me post the link so just check my videos, will be the most recent one

  • I got him (or her) when he was the size of a 50 cent piece. He is about 10 years old now (yes I still have him)

  • Did you buy it at this size or did you grow it out? how big was it when you got it and how long have you had it?

I see this post is from a while back do you still own this mac?

  • S. Maculatus can be shoaled, or grouped together. All pot luck though.

  • Is this piranha timid?

I want 1 willing to handle people in the same room. The red belly piranhas are too paranoid for my taste. I want something that's tough and aggressive, but not fearful of humans:P

  • Probably depends on the one you get but yes these piranhas are generally less timid than red bellies. Mine isn't timid at all, he loves attention and will chase us and the cats as we walk by his tank.

  • @shaun3344 Can't really keep him in a group of others though right?

I like breeding fish, and I like keeping monster fish.

So I figured I'd try to do both at once, breed a monster fish :P

But the red bellies (easy to breed) are starting to sound to wimpy if I'm going to take that as a direction.

  • is 8 inches the max of this fish?

  • I think they can get up to 10 inches

  • my piranha is black 4 of them and other 4 is different type more aggresive

  • Will this blend?

  • whats cingulair Xd

  • Some people are retarded, not all piranhas live in shoals. I.E. A black piranha, you only keep one because they will become aggressive with one another

  • Great video. He looks happy and healthy to me. Thanks for sharing.

  • I thought steak was the toungue

  • @KutscherRolf yeah I have red bellied ones but they are cannibalistic and even with 10 I am now down to 1, 11"

  • OM NOM NOM NOM!!!!

  • @superbroombroom

Because he wouldn't eat it all and I'd have to fish out the remains....pun intended

  • isnt that like a small tank , just boxed in like for the rest of his or her life man xD

  • @legendsveil

I've thought about it and just bought a ticket to South America, will be taking him with and dropping him off in the Amazon River

  • @shaun3344 Ohhh , haha kool ( :

  • and i shall name him....om nom :P

  • cool...

  • i would call it cute if i didn't remember it was a piranha xDD

  • Ho well at least u r not one of those assholes that put life fish in the water so the big ass piranhas Chase him and eat him!

  • yuck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Hi guys I got a vid of my 2 red belly piranhas and its jsut basicly a preview of my piranhas, I've had Pirahnas my whole life and i will upload feeding videos of them Live food and Normal Pellets, check me out and good feeding videos coming soon!

  • thats how i chew gum :D

  • What happens when ur piranha grew bigger

  • if yu put ur hand in there, will he eat it?

  • really nice fish!

  • Cannibal*** don't mind my other post

  • @Remiix691

Can piranha's be cannibals? (Yes.) Am I feeding him piranha meat in the video? (No.) Why you said cannibal? (I have no idea.)

  • Canniable lol

  • looks lazy :D

  • I love them. Beautiful fish

  • nomnomnomnomnomnom

  • thumbs up if you think that piranha looks cool

  • i lost 2 red bellies to getting sick from feeder fish...thats why i got smart and started feeding them shrimp amd tilapia and when i do feed them live fish ill get a comet or koi fish that is a little bit larger and not bred and kept in such tight quarters.

  • all I know is, thats one gorgeous species of piranha.

  • would ground turkey be healthy for em?

  • @alcoholic2anextreme it would be ok ocationally but their main diet should be fish or shrimp...like it would be in the wild...i know that they cant digest red meat very well (they cant digest the fats) but im not sure about poultry.

  • @alcoholic2anextreme

raw turkey meat would be(I feed him raw chicken meat on occasion), I don't see how you could feed a fish ground turkey meat, it would make a huge mess in the tank.

  • That Piranha looks so yummy! *Drools*

  • the piranha was like ``mmmmm...... Steak.......´´

  • it reminds me of a golden magikarp lol

  • The poor fish must be growing sick of hearing ads play the whole day in his aquarium :( lol

  • Do you ever feed him any fruit as well?

  • @ShortFingeredShreder

No, I've tried peas but he wasn't into them

  • try to feed him somthing live :P

  • wow, what kinda camera is that? awesome quality

  • How long does it take a piranha to grow that big?

  • You should get a whole lot of 'em and watch them eat the steak again. :P

  • Fuck Cingular... Great fish though.

  • I say just drop the hole stake

  • Fascinating fish.

  • I do not concur on that - I do however concur. that you are a fcking idiot

  • Beautiful fish, ive got two RBP's, they eat crickets, superworms and adult brine shrimp. I used to feed them feeders when they were juvies but feeders arent as nutritious, aha i work at petland so im well educated. I noticed that once I changed to crickets, superworms, and brine shrimp that their personalitiy changed. They used to be lazy bastards but now there insane! Possibly the protien and fat in the bugs giving them energy, anyways decent fish!

  • Hey man, I don't mean to "open a can of worms" with this question... but it looks as though it's lips have been cut off... would you concur?

  • next you know aliens come out of it

  • do you have baby piranhas??

  • that a beutiful piranha

  • I will like to see one eat a person piece by piece! :)

  • I like Piranha so thank you for posting a vid of a pretty fish that doesn't cater to the needs of sadists. I like watching them eat, I just hate watching them rip living creatures apart. So yeah, thank you for posting one a decent human can enjoy.

  • @IndiePoppedhearts lol never watch the nature channel then!

  • How old was the black diamond gold piranha at that time ?

  • cute pirahna

  • is it neccessary to give piranhas live food? always gotta think...sadistic shit owner... dunno

  • whats wrong with feeder fish...???i feed my red belly piranha's goldfish but there babies right now..i only feed them like one big one a day between 14 of them..but i also feed them blood worms too and shrimp..

  • They carry diseases - if you insist on them you should set up a quarantine tank and keep them for 3-4 weeks before giving them to your piranhas. You can also control what they eat during that time which in turn is what your piranhas will partly be eating.

Or you could breed your own feeders, convicts and mollies are easy to breed.

  • @shaun3344 i get the goldfish from petsmart. what kind of diseases? and keeping them in a quarantine tank for 3-4 weeks does what? i really dont want to harm my piranha's so id rather not take the chance but i love the way they destroy the goldfish in seconds...lol.. there about 2" right now so i might switch to a baby mouse. thats not their main diet, they get blood worms and other meats during the week for their main food source.

  • I'm not an expert on fish diseases but I know ick is a common one in feeders.

By quarantining them you will ensure that they don't have anything + you will no doubt be giving them better care and food then a store like Petsmart does. Try to find a locally owned store to get feeders from instead, one that has a large feeder tank with plenty of filtration, buying feeders at PS is a terrible idea and you're just asking for trouble......

  • @shaun3344 thanks...ill take you advise, makes sense too...i think ill go with minnows from the bait store cause they have a big feeder / bait tank and unlike PM theres not a bunch of dead ones in the tank too..

  • @shaun3344

Pirahna could get anything from feeder GF. Flukes, worms, other parasites, velvet, ich, fungus you name it.

  • @shaun3344 Buying from any pet store, ick is always on them. It may not seem like it but I bought a fish before from Petsmart and within a couple of days, my fish just blew up in ick and it was just disgusting.

  • @4BOAS20

baby mice!! dont feed baby mice to it!! have a heart

  • @DWC15 sorry, already did..did you check it out..

  • @4BOAS20

they have no nutritional value and thiamanese which is bad for the piranha, even this guy shouldnt be feeding his piranha raw steak.

  • @4BOAS20 be carefull of feeding them gold fish breeders put chemicals in there food to make them brighter wich can give piranha growth problems i.e cancer i used to feed mine gold fish untill i was told this by a piranha breeder .i used to give them frozen white bait but obviously defrost it

  • cool Fish! I want 1 now T_T

  • You can get beef heart from a butcher, cleaner and leaner meat wont pollute the tank. Have him grind it up like he would hamburger. Fill ziplock bags and flatten em out kinda thin, toss in freezer. you can break off pieces then.

  • Frozen krill and shrimp, other store bought fish and algae tabs make up most of his diet. Stay away from feeder fish. He is over 8 years old and doubt he would be with a steady diet of them.

  • what els do you feed him

  • Steak is a rare treat

  • @shaun3344

what els do you feed him

  • can you only feed them steak

  • can you only feed then steak? pleas respond.

  • xD i want a piranha!

  • RAW STEAK AT SEA!

  • bruv its weak why dint yu put a whole steak there see how fast he eats it.Ra ra rochdale

  • nice piranha when did u get it ?

  • Bad piranha.

  • Piranhas don't want to be fed they want to hunt.

  • Hes the owner of the fish so dont complain over how someone Takes care of their pets and i do have 4 pirahnas and they HATE to hunt,Look it up on google,Smart one.

  • How do you know if they hate to hunt when fish show no expressions.

  • Because it texted him using Cingular, weren't you listening to the commercials in the background? ; )

  • he was joking thats a quote forom Jurassic Park smart one

  • what an expensive way to feed your fish. Beef heart is way cheaper. Its like $1 per pound sometimes $1 for an entire heart that could be 3lbs

  • Yeah because I feed him that everytime.

We're talking once, maybe two times a year.

  • You feed him beef heart everytime? Or are you being sarcastic?

  • Sarcastic and I have gotten a beef heart 2x, it's a pain in the ass cutting it up then freezing it.

  • I don't cut mine, I go to the butcher and ask them to chop it up for me then give em a tip

  • Frozen krill, shrimp, various fish from grocery store, earthworms, algae tabs are his staples.

  • i want a pet pirana :)

  • It's pretty cool how these things are the smaller equivalent of sharks.

  • dude in size and all that these things are way more deadly than sharks, not an equivalent.

  • They're both predatory fish.

  • Yeah but these guys are more deadly

  • A piranha killed way less people the sharks...

  • well DUH look at the size of the piranah. im saying for size the piranha is more deadly. (a shark the size of a piranha couldnt compare)

  • Great pet. Is the care of it intensive?

  • Hahaha he looks fat. looks like he eats like a king.

  • I feed my 4 Red Belly Piranhas living mice

  • Thank you for sharing that valuable piece of information.

  • Not all piranha's school together only some do that are in the Genus Pygocentrus family do like the common red bellied piranha along with cariba, and ternetzi piranha, and even piraya when they are young.

Piranha's that don't school together are in the Genus Serrasalmus family which include the black piranha, manueli, brandtii, rhombeus and more

  • Go to Aquascapeonline. They said that is possible to shoal the Gold Piranha. This is the only piranha in the Serrasalmus family that can possibly be shoaled together. Its not gauranteed but it is possible. I'm getting rid of my 6"Skittish" reds for 3 of these guys from Aquascape

  • put a 2 inch gold with my shoal of 16 red bellies sized 2 inch to 3.5 inches for about 4 days and he has divided the tank even though he is smaller only about 6 of the reds are tough enough to stand up to him the rest will be given away before they are killed i think as long as your tank is huge it is very possible to shoal a gold if the fish you put it in with are tough enough

  • I just got my 3 Gold Spilo...don't get me wrong they don't love each other..but they are not ripping each other apart...a little bit of circling and chasing each other at first..but they settled down and all still have thier fins. For the most part they seem to respect each other and focusing on chasing rosey reds

  • i wonder what would happen if u had juice for it to swim in?

  • wtf are you talking about

  • i know tell me about it

  • Poor thing must get lonely in there by itself.

  • not really, he'll kill or would die trying anything I put in there with him.

  • Don't piranhas swim in packs?

  • In the wild with unlimited amount of water they do. This particular species does not do well in home aquariums unless you have like 300+ gallons.

  • some piranha species do, most commonly the red belly but some like the rhom don't

  • well not ass much.this fish can have ALL the space and food to him self.he might like being alone better.you never know..

  • lol this is cool

  • what would happen if you put your hand in there??
