This is their attempt to bring in a dictatorship...which is what the New World Order is all about. Their trying to turn us into China. When to get up. When to work. Where to go. Where to worship. America cannot go this route, because most other countries are turning to socialism and anarchy(i.e. Mexico with the organized drug cartels).
Why are business men so freaked out, if they are paying a living wage and are treating their workers with respect the workers will pass on the union anyway? Why are they so scared?
Here is a true story about my experience with a union. Was in Vegas 3 years ago for a large event and we had spent a lot of $ for the event and everything was done via a union shop. The program was printed and one one employee we did not put his middle initial in ti. The union required us to reprint the whole program. $6,750 later, we NEVER used a union since. I saw this union employee and on his floor tag- no middle initial. It is stuff like this that turns employers off from unions.
If the middle class was REALLY shrinking, and wages have been stagnant in all sectors since the 1970s, far more people would be for a bill like EFCA (even though it's deceptively named), believe me. The fact that union membership isn't all that high these days just shows that a) Americans have comfortable job security and wages and don't want them and b) they're fed up with union bosses nonsense, like donating dues to political candidates without their consent.
I hate when folks make excuses for those who drop out or refuse to go to college or post-high school job training (tech school or whatever) by saying "We need manufacturing jobs for these people! If we eliminate them, where are they gonna go for employment?" I dunno. Not my problem. If you want a high-paying job in today's world, get training. Get a degree in IT or some other high-paying area. No more coasting through life with almost zero skills. And none of this "right to a job" bs.
A friend of mine earned not one, but two degrees in advertising. All she could find were minimum wage jobs. I assure you, if those jobs were organized by the GCIU, they wouldn't be minimum wage jobs!
I'm glad we're finally going postindustrial, and the key high-wage areas are knowledge, not manufacturing. Many of our products suck compared to foreign companies, like cars. They're of poor quality and don't get good gas mileage.
I'm glad that manufacturing workers can finally realize that in the future you can't just cruise through life, drop out of hs (or refuse to go to college after graduation), and then hope you're lucky enough to find some manufacturing job.
Union membership was never all that high in America. At the height of membership, it was only 32% (FDR's terms). Plus, you're full of it on wages. Wages are going up and have gone up, esp. since 30 years ago! Who gave you this weird idea that all the middle class is shrinking or losing a bunch of wages? The only people wages have been stagnant for are low-skill min. wage jobs and manufacturing, but that's to be expected. Manufacturing is on its way out in a postindustrial econ.
Even if unions do all those great things Hilary claims, I wouldn't wanna be forced into one, esp. with the elimination of a secret ballot like this bill does. Surely there are alternative ways to make it easier to unionize than eliminating secret ballots.
Correct. You cannot be for the so-called "Employee Free Choice Act" and also claim to be for individual liberty. They are mutually exclusive. If you support the legislation you are a statist/socialist.
Just like Pc speech is an afront on every persons 1st amendment rights, those who seek to censor or control love the "empolyee free choise act". We agree!
Since 1980, 20, of the last 28 years have had Republicans at the steering wheel. What has happenned to working class wages and total percentage of Unionized workers since then? DOWNHILL. So, then people had to get credit to be able to consume, and then MORE credit, and more. Now we have a huge problem. I used to listen to Limbaugh and be a Company suck up, it didn't do much for me. Too much greed, people need to be able to organize....
None of that has any thing to do with thugs wanting to intimidate the voting. The secret ballot is the issue. The curtain behind you lets you vote your mind with confidents. Voter fraud is a certain with out the secret ballot! The curtain will not stop you from organizing.
No dought they try to steel elections in meny other way! first line of defence from voter fraud is the secret ballot. only mislead fools and crooks want to do away with the secret ballot!!!
Well, you think that way because union lobbyists don't line your pockets with money and tell you how to vote on union-related issues (school choice, EFCA, et al).
All the gains in income u get by a union go to the UNION. And that is bullshit. Not only that but they make life for the company harder and less apt to grow (and you with it). Unions are a shame.
The health insurance and I recieve 6 months disability pay. I was able to get many mris and exstensive testing to rule out certain problems with my brain & get the diagnosisof my nuerobiological Syndrome. What was my job for which I earned all these benifits though union & contract.....Grocery Bagger at a Supermarket. My dues were never more than 8 to ten dollars while actually working.
Great for you, I have had medical issues as well and was well taken' care of by my company health plan, and company disability payments. Union dues 0. I work as an hourly employee at one of the big retail chains distribution centers (warehouse).
The extra money that she says union members get is given to the unions so they can speak for you.Why should someone else have the right to decide what happens in your work. They might not even work in the same place you do they just sit around and start up drama so they can act like your payment is doing something. Why do you have to pay someone to speak for you? Don't you have your own voice! What if you don't agree with the majority you just have to go along with it!
If it was not for the union most people would make $10 or more dollars less an hour. To me that is paying the $10 -20 in union dues. The company i work for tried to take disciplinary action against me for a medical leave. With union stewards (working in the workplace) and the union members helped grieve and let me keep my job. For all you that are against the union, think how your workplace could be better.
We need unions, I used to be a staunch supporter against unions due mostly to my own ignorance. I am currently in a union, enjoy many basic benefits that every American should have. It's all about human need not corporate greed. Companies should want to see their employees doing well, by having the basics of life and not struggling. We must unite. United we stand....Divided we fall.
The organizations that I belonged to that had unions were the most corrupt and useless I have ever encountered. Most of those companies went under because they couldn't compete with non-union companies. I'm sure there are some unions out there that aren't that way but in my experience they only hurt america in the long run. Socialism never works in the long run. The day of big unions is over.
Union members pay a percentage of their pay to belong. They pay a great amount to join.
The non members get many of the same health and welfare a members. Only that the members have to pay their own way. Non members will continue to live off the union with the member's taxes to survive.
There is nothing wrong with Unions. there is nothing wrong with fair wages for everyone, healthcare, and rights. Plus, why wouldn't I work Union? it is in my benefit. I love Unions, and I think Hillary is doing a great job!
The pendulum swings and the ball is in our court "the working class" will stand true. Without the sweat of their employees Corperate America is nothing, would produce nothing, and would be worth nothing. Whats wrong with a hard working man being able to buy a car, or maybe even a house, how about take his son or daughter to the doctor. Unions Need a little help from the Senate, it's our turn AND I MEAN THE WORKING MEN AND WOMEN OF AMERICA
1 : any of various economic and political theories advocating collective or governmental ownership and administration of the means of production and distribution of goods
2 a : a system of society or group living in which there is no private property b : a system or condition of society in which the means of production are owned and controlled by the state
3 : a stage of society in Marxist theory transitional between capitalism and communism and distinguished by unequal distribution of goods and pay according to work done. No one is advocating collective or governmental ownership and administration of your business, but that there are laws to make a level playing field between employer and employee.
All too often the powerful use their power against the weak that do not deserve it, and there is no meaningful way to right these wrongs with the deck stacked against the employee. You will have the right to hire who you want, but you will not be able to fire for unjust reasons such as no reason.
All too often people are fired for no reason, and the employer lies about the reasons for the firing. This can follow the employee for the rest of their lives, and there should be legal remedies to provide accountability. You have to have a licensee and training to drive a car, but no hiring licensee and training to employ people in a business that might be so unsafe that it kills employees.
. The notion that just because you started a business that you should be allowed to do anything you want is ridiculous, and in no other area of society is anyone allowed to do what ever they want. Granted you may be suffering for the misdeeds of other you could have joined this fight long ago, and when one group tries to oppress another it always comes full circle to kick the oppressor in the rear sooner or later.
Lay off would still be allowed, but reasons to fire someone would have an agreed guidelines to follow. You will be able to do anything you want with your own business if you do all the work yourself, but if you hire from the public you will be held accountable for bad behavior.
Its time to vote out anyone who voted against this bill. They are NOT for working families. Senator Ensign from Nevada is one of them. Its time for working families to stand up for our rights.
Mitch McConnell (Republican leader)got up on the floor of the Senate and lied his ass off again, he knows damn good and well that this bill would not kept any group of workers from having a secret ballot,,he was lying to support his big money backers, National Restaurant ASS. and Food Marketing Ass, (Outback Steakhouse, Red Lobster and Olive
Garden) Boycott them, he has accepted almost $50.000 form these organizations in the last several years, McConnell must go the way of Tom DeLay.
I don't think you really know how unions work. Unions are just collective bargaining for employees to ensure benefits and equal/higher wages. If there weren't unions, if an employee demanded fairer benefits they could just be fired. But it's hard to fire everyone (aka a union).
Unions don't lobby for higher taxes, that just defies logic. It's safe to say that no one would lobby for higher taxes, especially since the government raises them on their own.
Colorado had a law that forced the unions to not use dues for political funding if a member did not want his money used that way. The dems money dried up! Then a new governor was voted in and he reversed it. Total shame!
So it's ok for union members to involuntarily have their money used to pay off pro-union politicians? Nice logic there. The ends justify the means I guess.
NO !!! The point was to protect union members who felt ripped off or misrepresented by their leaders. If you did not want your money to go to democrats it was your choice.
Isnt it interesting videos like this get mostly thumbs up but in the comments are vastly and detailed in being against this Big Lie of "Free Choice"?

She is Pro-NAFTA, which costs us countless jobs.
She said she will not get rid of the notorious Taft-Hartey law which greatly restricts union activity.
Some of her biggest donors are the meanest union busters around.
She was on the board of WalMart.
Now she is trying to court union voters.
