It was not 5 centuries but more close to 4 centuries that most Greeks were subject and enslaved by the Turkish Ottoman joke. My forebears were subjugated to intolerable conditions because they were not Muslim. Some did convert to Islam others fled, but many fell because they resisted.

If you have any in depth historical knowledge of Greece and Turkey, and the Ottoman Empire, you will know that Muslims thrived statistically in Greece as opposed as the Greeks and other Christians in Turkey have been subjugated to ethnic cleansing, religious cleansing, and pogroms to separate them from their lands and property, driving them to immigrate to other countries mostly to the West but also to Russia.
