If the person is responsive to opposing viewpoints, no reason to unsub. If the person won't listen, then I'm going to hear arguments I've already heard -- i.e., that's my reason for unsubbing. I have people who I know will post new and interesting material, and I can watch them instead, and I don't like people ignoring arguments.
TF has, for the most part, ignored arguments. However, I'm still subbed to him. At this point, I'm watching the train wreck.
Dude, I love your vids, and I think they keep getting better and better. I'm an anarchist, but I started watching your stuff long time ago, back when you were still a statist. I noticed that you were a smart dude that makes good logical points, so I subscribed. I'll pimp your videos to my fellow anarchists. While you may be losing subscribers, you simultaneously gain more respect from existing subscribers like me. Cheers.
It really makes no sense, I do not agree with you on many of the Libertarian ideals at all however I am not going to un-sub just because you are stating your opinion. I do not think you could change my mind because I had beliefs close to yours when I was younger, however as I have aged and gone through certain things in life that is how I came to my world view.
Personally I like to hear different opinions and tell people they are full of shit, that is what makes You Tube fun.
I think balance is good, still good to speak out about religion and other things.
And problem I find with alot of the videos on polotics and how much goverment there should be and such is both have huge extremes, either no goverment doing anythin and some how everything supposed to work out or too much.
Hey buddy, even though I dont share your same views on government I still watch your recent vids, though my main complaint about the government vids is you repeat yourself a LOT going over the same point you had made only a couple min before in the video. Wish you would toss in a good sciencey vid every now and then to appease the rest of us. But im not about to unsub anytime soon.
Welcome to the internet. :\ As an artist, I've been dealing with the same shit for years. There's no way around it. The only advice I can give is to ignore the people you lose, they aren't worth keeping anyway.
Gotta love how you think ppl are unsubbing from you because you're 'scaring' them and 'challenging' them. Ever stop to think that many of them have probably heard this Libertarian BS from better speakers than you and were unconvinced, and are just tired of hearing the rhetoric?
You're a freemarket-fag, so think of it in those terms: your 'product' isn't worth the investment of time for these consumers so they're 'voting with their minutes' against your ideas.
I'm sure I am not the first person people have heard advocate freedom, but I'm still going to try and change peoples minds. I was not convinced right away, and if I had just started ignoring the people talking about it because I had heard it before, I wouldn't hold the positions I do now. I am trying to present things people are familiar with, in another point of view that maybe they have not thought of. It's always good to hear another point of view.
I unsubbed from you for several reasons that were expressed here. You still, have one of the greatest succinct comments ever uttered about fossils i.e "All fossils found are transitional fossils" I have used that line a few times myself.
The reason isn't because my one vote count mattered. What I comment on, view and rate is a reflection of me, the same as your videos are of you. Your still way cooler than any Cretard but I just don't agree with your veiw points on State-ism.
That was the nicest "I unsubbed you" message I have ever gotten. If you don't like what I have to say, I'm perfectly fine with an unsub, or a bad rating. Maybe in a few years you'll think differently, or maybe I will, who knows?
Not ALL of thunderf00t's vid's since PCS leaving are bad but the Islam ones are getting kind of annoying. Although i disagree with your statism vids seeing as I never really understood your alternative, its nice to always get differing views and only small minds like hearing their opinion spouted off back to them creationists being the best example.
@FearsEdge And people are just going to behave? Anarchy my be fine and dandy in theory like communism but I would think it would just fall into chaos. I'll take a little bit of government bs as opposed to a shark tank/shitstorm scenario, despite me being armed.
@FearsEdge Not necessarily but without laws it would be a shitstorm. Sure, if everyone was like you and me it might be fine and dandy but Im pretty sure some gangs/druglords/etc out there with their superior weaponry and what have you are going to impose their will on you in a way worse than our government. Btw I also appreciate the infrastructure provided by taxes and would be quite annoyed with paying tolls at every single road.
I would rather pay every toll and know it's a voluntary exchange.
And you need to justify the statement that laws somehow keep everyone in check. There IS someone with superior weaponry inflicting their will on us RIGHT NOW. They are called THE STATE!!!
@FearsEdge Laws dont keep everyone in check but without them ALOT more people will be inclined to bad and/or worse than what there would be, what would stop them besides other armed vigilantes? It would be a bloodbath and for what? As for your last statement, sure, but the state is SOMEWHAT regulated and would probably know not to go too far to piss too many people off as opposed to some dystopian nightmare where everyone is at war which is somewhat likely w/o government.
I prefer the regulation of the free market to a "SOMEWHAT" regulated state that has a tiny fraction of the limitations that a private institution does on it's activities.
By the way, wars are extremely expensive, which is why the people who start them always pass the costs onto everyone else, and(in the case of the US in particular) get their corporate buddies absolutely filthy fucking rich off of it. How many wars do you think would be going on when the people who started them had to actually pay for them?
@FearsEdge Well of course, especially in the case of 'political' wars like Iraq. You're talking about people abusing the system which is inevitable but can be rectified with proper checks and balances and a fairly well educated public. Im well aware of problems with the state but Im weighing it against anarchy. Btw when I said going into detail I meant stuff like you said with the corporations, how they puppet the media, other abuses etcetc not the same things you always say in your satism vids.
@FearsEdge OK OK you got me with the education, I suppose when more people learn to pull their heads out of their ass then. Im a bit perplexed about your last point though, creation? No. Mutually beneficial corrupt butt buddies? Indeed. I believe it was Thomas Jefferson that said we needed a revolution every now and then and thats what I think we should do once bullshit hits critical mass. But I still dont see how anarchy is going to work, sure the states not that great but anarchy? Really?
I have liked your videos since I stumbled across you on a BlogTV session almost a year ago (which I had a great time in that BlogTV) I know when I watch one of your videos I am going to have something to think about, something of substance. I like that a lot. :)
Sometimes it's not clear if you're against the theory of a government or against existing government(s). You loosely assert why a government is bad like you're attacking the theory, then point out problems with an actual government then draw the conclusion that governments are bad because the example you gave completely over-looking you're muddling of theory and practise.
I think people unsub when it all gets too much to watch, like a horrific car accident.
I just tell things as I see them, and I make no bones about what bothers me and what I advocate.
People love to play this game where they point out the way something is supposed to be in theory as opposed to how it actually is in practice. It's like when people say communism would be great if only people were not in charge.
Some things, such as the state, have problems in theory and practice.
yup. It happens. And it's ok. It's your prerogative to do different things at different times. And it's theirs to unsub and resub as often as they like. Just do what you feel you need to do.
I feel the same way about you as you do about TF, but I'm still subbed. Mainly because I assume eventually you'll come to your senses. I went through a libertarian phase as well when I was young, and naive. :p
I know exactly what spurred my phase. After all the advances we made in the 60's and 70's (I marched in the largest ant- (Vietnam) war march ever. Fought for civil rights, and then Reagan got elected. That's enough to drive you to drink. The difference in your opinion, and mine is mine is backed up by facts. Libertarians are currently, and have historically been primarily young males. So SCIENCE shows it something you grow out of.
I don't think it is either. I think humans can innovate quite well when they have to. When people have to get along and can't bully each other they come up with all kinds of alternatives.
@TheNakedAtheist you probably never understood economics well enough, because if you did you would have stayed a libertarian. Or you just turned into a authoritarian asshole. lol its funny, you seem to have gotten stupider and more naive with age(when it comes to politics).
@TheNakedAtheist typical statheist response. you guys are the economic creationists. Which makes sense considering the state originally started out of mystic religious cults.
I was part of the choir and subbed for your videos on atheism/PCS etc. The current videos though I'm still watching, to be honest it's not something I've put a lot of thought into before and so I can't say I 'agree' or 'disagreeing' with anything your saying re Statism, yet. It's all thought provoking though and thats why I'm staying subbed. Still, I wouldn't be too hard on people unsubbing, your channel has changed a tad, maybe they just come to YT for a bit of fun creationist bashing.
That's why I am not offended by it, or anything. I am just a little disappointed in the ones who do unsub. But as I said, it's primarily entertaining at this point.
I don't agree with your libertarian views as you know. But otherwise you seem like a nice bloke and I subbed you because I liked your opinions on other stuff. I don't want to argue with you about statism any more though. I will check back in with you in ten years time if we're both still around and see whether or not you and I still have the same views!!

e.g. I was probably among the first to click the "unsub" button with Thunderf00t.
I'm just very picky about stuff. :P
Personally though, I could NEVER understand people who say, "unsubbed" or something like that to a video's poster.
