I´m not agree that in Aikido exist gotai, because I think the meaning of Aiki (from japanese AWASERU) mean the encounter or meeting of two forces, so static techniques belongs to other arts, not Aikido. You can see all video of Osensei, he never let him grab or wait static.
we do not learn gotai per say , it is just gotain alof times, we also learn alot of jutai waza, we are ofcourse told to do everything smoothly and fluid.
For kihon sometimes its so easier and important to see the steps involved , since some of us miss the steps when we see it in jutai form.

Gotai is good for beuty and aestetical, but also very good to learn for kihon students such as me.
I also agree with you in aikido our goal is jutai , ki no nagare as the true way of execution.

Maybe is usefull for kihon... but I teach only jutai becuase is the unique way to learn correctly maai and deai, space and time...
