This is nothing more than coming onto tribal land and attacking tribal descendants... we ARE the Hatteras tribe.....and our ancestors have been fishing that island since before the english came there!!!! These outsiders have no ties to that island and have no right coming onto our ancestorial homeland to try to force us off it!!!!!!!!

Yes because my family lives in Buxton and there has never been any problems involving shorebird nesting and ORVs. Its just these stupid 'PETA' type people who probably never been there and want to ruin a long standing tradition of driving on the beaches of Hatteras.
omg.....im that litte girl beside the sign in that video!!!!! i was sitting there in the hotel room brushing my teeth and my mom stearts yelling deedee ur on tv and i was like wat , she sed look and it was it was crazy!!!so theres my 5 mins of fame!!! <3
Why is there a arrowhead on the bottom right of them signs?? Hatteras is where my ancestors the Croatan, Secotan, and Mattamuskeet fished for many years, they are taking away a tradition that has been there since humans first touched that land. I have never even visited my ancestor's ancestrial land, I would really like 2 visit it, it would be a slap in my face if I finnally get to visit it and I see a sign with a arrowhead design that told me I could not step on my ancestor's ancestrial land.
At current rates of recovery, the Atlantic Coast Piping Plover will reach its East Coast recovery goal in four years and could be fully recovered in less than three years.
Given all of the facts, it appears that there is no need for the increased restrictions on beach driving that are required under the judicially imposed consent decree, nor are the critical habitat areas proposed by the Fish and Wildlife Service justified.

The closures are temperary and necessary. If we do not take to steps to protect wildlife it would be a shame. They have been here a lot longer then us humans.
Rats, mosquitoes and cockroach's have been here a lot longer than humans too but I don't see any body trying to protect them, or is that the so called ecologists next scam when they have milked all the donations the suckers will give for piping plovers.

They are temporary closures. There is plenty of beach open. Love the way they report about the closures but NOT the vandalism. How about commenting on that.
yes it is so dramatic it has ruined vacations & has made the local economy go into a downward spiral. Many tourists say they shall not return if the closures remain in place. Dramatic indeed!!!

the plovers are not indiginous to the island. The raccoons and minks and foxes the NPS are killing are.
