I really enjoy watching your videos, looks like ALOT of fun. Not something I would attempt on my own though :D you have some guts to take on that kind of a remote trek.
There was some extra work in getting the trip on film but it was well worth it. It really brings the trip back to life to see the footage and it's a wonderful way to remember an awesome adventure.
oh wow. that looked like quite an amzing adventure. i really like the way the video was put together. you sure did see a lot. this makes me want to put my next adventure in alaska. im also lookin for a place to build a nice cozy cabin. ahhh alaska. sounds like a plan. =)
Nice video. Thanks for sharing. Gotta love Alaska and the fauna. I plan to go live in nature for awhile. Test my surviving skill ( To a certain degree... I wont go like Alexander " Supertramp ") Ground myself with Gaia
00:26 it looks like you're being charged by a grizzly! Also it didn't look like you were carrying a firearm anywhere in the video, I would be scared to hike across Alaska without protection from Grizzlies.
Really nice video, I hope I'll get to do that myself one day.
That grizzly was hurrying towards me, but I don't think it was really charging. Many of the wilderness grizzlies seldom if ever see people, and with their poor eyesight if they see something they'll come over hoping it's something to eat. Almost always when they get a good sniff of you they'll run.
The fish with the big dorsal fin is a grayling. I also caught charr, which look much like a rainbow or salmon or even a brook trout depending on the time of year. There were also many salmon in the river.
wow i just saw the movie and im halfthrough the book right now and i just dont know what to think of him. he was whether a complete genius or the greatest fool ive ever seen :), however your video is awesome. keep up the good work !
While I admire people who go out and live their lives, McCandless overestimated his own skills and made numerous serious errors in judgment in his last adventure.
that was amazing. Your like suvivor man on TV. I bet it sucks having to go back and get the camera. Next time take me I'll be the camera man. not in a gay way i just love alaska. Peace
living the life....God bless

how did you carry all that gear, a boat and camera equipment?
lti12 2 years ago
Bush planes had dropped off several bear-proof equipment caches for me earlier in the summer.

I can only praise you on completeing such a challenging trek, i salute you sir.

I didn't have a gun while I was backpacking. When I got to my boat I had a 30-06.
youalaska 2 years ago
That was some trek. Did you bring a gun for protection? 500 s&w or something?

oh my gosh...that was incredible!

Wouldn't it be a pain carrying the camera gear, and setting it to get a shot of you walking then going back to re-get it....
But anyway, really cool video.

Do you mean Chris as in Chris McCandless? If so, I guess sort of, it was southwest of here a way, though.

Can't get enough of this... Only problem is if I ever went up there and did all this, there's no way I'd never return to civilization.
