This kind of looks like the guy who filmed this was standing about 50 feet east of the corner of Bennett & Central on the north side of the street. Can anyone confirm or deny this?
Wow. I saw that in 1957 but can't remember any of it. Back in the 50's, the Evanston parade was one of the big ones with many marching bands. The Shriners deemed it important enough to come out with their goofy little cars.
Now it's more of a neigborhood thing with little kids pulling wagons although some groups are bringing back the big floats.
The Evanston 4th of July parade is still famous! Getting ready for it as we speak. Everyone will put out their chairs starting on Friday -- by Monday the whole town will be lining Central Street or marching in the parade! It is still a great time so many years after your great video! Thanks for sharing...
Oh, oh. Please forgive me. I "corrected" you too hastily. I thought you meant to say Fess Parker played Johnny Tremain. I should have known by the comma after Fess Parker's name in your notes that you meant Fess Parker AND the guy who played Johnny Tremain. In other words, it was a serial comma that I misinterpreted. And I am a teacher! Have a good day.

This is wonderful! My husband grew up in suburban Chicago, but I'm pretty sure there was nothing like this in the western suburbs!

Neat video! It was however Hal Stalmaster who played Johnny Tremain. Fess Parker played Davy Crockett.
