I discovered this concerto with Milstein and after it remained my favorite interpretation . But Szigeti is wonderful too, I like him immensely in this concerto.
I was wondering if anyone could give some advice on this violin training program? It's put out by a violin teacher named Eric Lewis. I was given a violin for christmas and was given a stupid book that I can't figure out. Looking forward to your comments: Here is the link I found on google:w w w (dot) getgoodreviews (dot) com/go/violin_lessons (dot) php
One of my three favorite violin concertos (the others being the Beethoven and Sibelius), in the hands of a master musician; nobody else brings the aching long line, legato, cantabile, and depth of feeling that Sziigeti does to this wonderful music. Other violinists may have had a more solid technique, but none of them surpassed his musicality and musicianship.
This is the first ever recording of Prokofiev's Violin Concerto #1, and still considered by many to be the best. Joseph Szigeti did much to further Prokofiev's music, at a time when Prokofiev was relatively unpopular.
As usual, adding &fmt=18 to the end of the link provides higher quality audio.
yes, too, I love this a n d Milstein with Barzin

with the 2nd & 3 rd Piano Sonatas, Chout, ...

He was the first to popularise this piece I think. Others having failed before him.

Forget about Heifetz being the god of violin, Szigeti beats him!

Terrific recording. Thanks for the upload. I agree with you Oprheusads, it is 'sophisticated' playing. It's very precise and without fuss.

give him credit. he may not be a perlman or a heifetz but he's definitely a very talented musician who does not deserve all the bashing that he gets.

He was born in 1892, so he was 42-43 at the time.
