Hey Megalis. Pretty cool Videos. But I got say that these are the koufies vedouzes. The original ones are called koftes (cutting) veduzes. It's the same thing in preparation but you also have to use a shaving blade to cut the place of the back you are going to place the glasses.
It's actually a pretty common treatment in both cultures. Along with enemas ;)
Except the Chinese don't use cups, but small glass bowls. And they use a piece of rice paper instead of cotton and alcohol.
They say the burning paper wards away evil and the smoke in the bowl absorbs ailments directly from the skin as it's being sucked up by the cooling air in the bowl.
I have a question for you, Mister Greek Home Remedy Man. How can you use a vendouzes on the back of a hairy Greek? Wouldn't the fur mat keep the glass from making an effective seal? Or does the vendouzes remove unsightly back hair as well?
OMG! I we do these in Russia too! Well... at least USED to do it 25 years ago or so when i was a kid :) But we used special glasses for that, and you'd have 6 or so at a time! your video brought sweet childhood memories... :)
Very helpful medical advice, Dr. Tom! Is there a care and feeding of the leeches video coming soon? With, of course, with their many uses tutorial! :-)
ctually i know a good one , similar to this but would most likely be better, and result are always going to be consistent... u need a glass as shown, a tea candle the little tea lites...and thats it basically...light the tealight, and put the cup over it...massive suction and the flame burns out because of the lac of oxygen ofcource...it leavs u very red for a day or two so dont try this on your face! when removing it, press the skin down near the cup and tilt the cup!
ah a variation...little tealight...AND I LOVE the massive suction--it has to suck or no disease removal--diseases live so close to the surface--it's like people waiting for a bus--outside on the street---
You forgot to say not to just rip it off otherwise you would rip your skin off. And do you know this is also in the Russian health stuff too only called differently. I guess we did steal almost all of your inventions when we went into byzantine a while ago :D.
Always had yiayia and papou's home remedies growing up. potato skins on swollen ankles was always my favorite. Vendouzes is something I would do if I felt like rocking some blue marks on my back for a week or so.
what is this supposed to "cure" again...?

How about the Greek Drivers Education Preperation: Merging into heavy traffic?
I liked the audio commentary. Should of added -see- to the end of every statement for the Jimmy Stewart effect.

Hey Dr. Tom, my dad has gout. Do you think a vendoozes or is the singular 'vendooze' would work? ((HUGS))

LisaVision77 4 years ago
Lisa---Yes Vendoozes, or the vendooze should clear that gout right up---but if your dad is an astronaut it will not..
best of luck and have a GREAT 2008!!! Tom
megalisstudio 4 years ago
No, T, not an astronaut. However, there have been moments when I've thought him to be an alien. Does that count? ;-)
