  • what is this supposed to "cure" again...?

    xD

  • Mostly colds--n flu.

  • Dont freaking forget "Koftes Vendouzes" !!!!!!!

    lol

    Awesome man!!!

  • Hey Megalis. Pretty cool Videos. But I got say that these are the koufies vedouzes. The original ones are called koftes (cutting) veduzes. It's the same thing in preparation but you also have to use a shaving blade to cut the place of the back you are going to place the glasses.

  • I had a friend get that done in Chinatown once.

He looked like he was attacked by a giant squid.

  • chinatown? It wasn't greeks doing that down there was it??

    hahahaha

  • Haha!

It's actually a pretty common treatment in both cultures. Along with enemas ;)

Except the Chinese don't use cups, but small glass bowls. And they use a piece of rice paper instead of cotton and alcohol.

They say the burning paper wards away evil and the smoke in the bowl absorbs ailments directly from the skin as it's being sucked up by the cooling air in the bowl.

My friend said it felt reeeeally weird.

  • Ha ha ha ha !!!! It's worked for me

  • Hell ya it works!! haahaha

  • what does it even do...?

    xD

    i missed it

  • With friends like you, who needs ememas?

  • thank you..i mean, wait, is that a compliment?

  • Crap. I misspelled "enemas."

I have a question for you, Mister Greek Home Remedy Man. How can you use a vendouzes on the back of a hairy Greek? Wouldn't the fur mat keep the glass from making an effective seal? Or does the vendouzes remove unsightly back hair as well?

    Signed,

    Hirsutely Curious

  • OMG! I we do these in Russia too! Well... at least USED to do it 25 years ago or so when i was a kid :) But we used special glasses for that, and you'd have 6 or so at a time! your video brought sweet childhood memories... :)

  • Yep. I saw it on a Michael Palin documentary about Eastern Europe. It's called cupping here in the UK. Man! aren't we humans strange!

  • Yasou Mate! Hilarious as usual. Kalo xrono na exeis, hopefully we can do a project together in 2008! May it be a fantastic year for all...

P.s. You forgot to mention the exorcism qualities of vendouzes. Now theres a skit!

  • Yasou Bro----yes---2008, i'm sure we will hook up out west--hope you are doin fine and funkin' dandy!!!

  • How about the Greek Drivers Education Preperation: Merging into heavy traffic?

I liked the audio commentary. Should of added -see- to the end of every statement for the Jimmy Stewart effect.

  • Hmmm...Greek education preparation?? Sweet horrible thoughts....hahahaha

  • hahahaha it looks so convinsing

  • convincing eh? Do it---you will feel like a million bucks in 0h ATE!!!!! Peace

  • Very helpful medical advice, Dr. Tom! Is there a care and feeding of the leeches video coming soon? With, of course, with their many uses tutorial! :-)

    Happy New Year!

  • Leeches?!! Now there is a busy useful critter----and great on crackers!! mmmmmmm

  • hahaha And who better to enlighten us all on their many uses than Dr. Tom? :-)

  • only thing is it gives you 2 huge hickeys where the cups were

  • hahah great vid!

and i heard of vendouzes before, under a different name. it was used yyyyears ago in poland (mainly small villageS) as a cure all :P

    happy everything :D

  • It is a mainly small village thing---very old world---

so does not surprise me it was in Poland, or russia or even italy---people just didn't RUN to the doctor all the time--

    the were a hardy bunch.

  • Megalis, you are awesome. Happy New Year!

  • HAPPY NEW YEAR!

  • "I want to read and run!"

Please, please, do not stop making videos

  • that is SCARY man...

  • Scary? So was the Terminator--and look what he accomplished.. Do not fear the V!!

  • Haha, no man, the terminator wasn't scary XD

Risking getting your skin ripped off your back - THATS scary :P

  • ctually i know a good one , similar to this but would most likely be better, and result are always going to be consistent... u need a glass as shown, a tea candle the little tea lites...and thats it basically...light the tealight, and put the cup over it...massive suction and the flame burns out because of the lac of oxygen ofcource...it leavs u very red for a day or two so dont try this on your face! when removing it, press the skin down near the cup and tilt the cup!

    goodluck

  • ah a variation...little tealight...AND I LOVE the massive suction--it has to suck or no disease removal--diseases live so close to the surface--it's like people waiting for a bus--outside on the street---

  • Iv always wonted to know how to do Vendouzes's at home. thanks =P cant wait to try it out when ever I feel ill or what not.

  • You forgot to say not to just rip it off otherwise you would rip your skin off. And do you know this is also in the Russian health stuff too only called differently. I guess we did steal almost all of your inventions when we went into byzantine a while ago :D.

  • I would rather not know what's in your ARSEnal.

  • More in my ARSEnal---look out bro!

  • Always had yiayia and papou's home remedies growing up. potato skins on swollen ankles was always my favorite. Vendouzes is something I would do if I felt like rocking some blue marks on my back for a week or so.

  • Would that work on other areas of the body besides the back? (ahem)

  • DO NOT TRY THIS ON THE PEE REGION!!! If you do, see my duct tape video. Thanks preach.

  • LOL! You said "pee region".

  • Yeah i said pee region--if i said, pee pee region that would be more male--"pee region" covers all three of the sexes.

  • Wow! You learn something new everyday! I'm gonna go try this out on my cat.

  • Hey Dr. Tom, my dad has gout. Do you think a vendoozes or is the singular 'vendooze' would work? ((HUGS))

    L. in MO

A follower of all your Greek advice

  • Lisa---Yes Vendoozes, or the vendooze should clear that gout right up---but if your dad is an astronaut it will not..

best of luck and have a GREAT 2008!!! Tom

  • No, T, not an astronaut. However, there have been moments when I've thought him to be an alien. Does that count? ;-)

  • isnt that what zorba does to boubalina when she gets sick in the movie zorba the greek. great movie btw.

  • Looks painful!
