  • omg We were at the Bogarts show 2 days after Nicholas was Born. Call me Danny!

  • This man is a musical genius. Happy Birthday Todd!

  • Meet the artist and his many collaborative friends/artists at the upcoming Todd Rundgren Musical Survival Camp being held June 20 - 24 in Big Indian, NY. A four-day camp/resort...Visit Todd Rundgren's page on FB for details.

  • todd rules!

  • What's that thing on his head? It never seems to grow or anything.

  • Todd IS timeless. Just listen to "Honest Work" from Acappella. Could have been written yesterday.

I love ya Todd. You wrote the soundtrack to my life.

  • Ditto great interview seems like a nice guy. I like that he is only willing to produce what he is good at and does not compromise like so many artists today

  • Good interview - very musician/recording oriented. THANKS TODD!

  • you either 'FEEL IT'' it or you dont...I FEEL IT!! deep down inside! i have luved todd since the 70's...amazing tunes with great words and what and AWESOME voice and an AWESOME PERFORMER!! I still luv it all 30 years later...ROCK ON TODD!!

  • PRO TOOLS AND REASON , GOOOOD

  • Wow! a really cool dude!

  • Wow Todd is still a fox!

  • Todd is a genius. No doubt about it.

  • Very nice contribution. I luv the live concert clips and all the technical equipment info. Thanks for this.

  • He physically reminds me of John Lennon as he has aged.

He is very mature and hasn't rocked himself out like many older musicians have.

  • I think hes made statements about that aswell.

I think its cool he is a software developer though, thats really amazing!

  • He is totally incredible!

I can't believe the record industry doesn't market his music anymore with a contract, rather like Julian Lennon's experience.

  • I forgot about that to be honest!

  • Watch Todd Rundgren at "Live from daryls house" its great

  • Todd s Godd! He is the best

  • I wish he'd come to Pittsburgh.

  • Just saw Todd at the Spectrum last nite for one of the last concerts! It was awesome and he is a genus! 10/24/2009

  • I was there too...

  • This is for anyone who does'nt know much about Todd---Very Smart Guy!!!!

  • He's hot now too!

  • Todd should take up Jim Peterik's (of band Survivor) wish/offer/dream to write together, he's another of America's legendary and finest pop/rock songwriters. The two of them could deliver the ultimate AOR pop/rock album, I have little doubt of that, as highly potential a combination they seem to be. I know Todd likes to write mostly alone, but I'd say it's worth the try.

  • Um most music today is crap it's all been done now it's just piss poor rehash,90% anyway

  • He's sure at his nose a lot. Did he sniff something?

  • Angela My high school years were some of the best in my life. I'm not saying I wore my private dispositions on my sleeve , but the 70's and 80's depending where you lived (me LA Calif). were less judgmental then many places are today. Ted had his fans and he was a master at entertaining all of them.

  • Todd Rundgren is like typical people of his age, who don't think modern-day music is good.

  • Todd was before hid time or he would have been noticed way before he was and been much more successful. He was and is a genious for all time. No was thens about it!

  • He was hotter than shit in the 70's Some of hes costumes put his sweet little ass out there It was hot....but that was then.

  • Let me guess, you're gay

  • Who meeeeee? I just call it like I like ....I mean I see it. Ya I'm gay. I'm just one of the lucky guys that feel free enough to admit it. If Tod himself didn't think his goodies were delicous he wouldn't have put them out there(in those days) for all of us to enjoy. No matter which angle you saw it it was a sweet package.

  • Wow, your gay honesty is refreshing. Hope you didn't get your butt kicked too often in high school.

  • Hey Dan, meant to comment earlier, thanx for this, I bet this was a great time. I'm jealous (sorta) but you put yourself in this perfect position and it's a great interview. And thanx for all the other things you have posted as I'm proud to have been a small part of some of them. Long live XY19/Malpractice----yeah right!!!

  • Todd is God!

  • Sure, he was beautiful in 1975 when he was 25, but he doesn't look that bad now. He's still great. I love Todd!

  • hOTNESS IS ON THE INSIDE SWEETHEART...yOU HAVE NOT LEARNED YET....DO NOT BE SUPERFICIAL...YOU WILL LEARN HONEY...YOU NEED MORE TIME.

    CHEERS,

    GEMMA

  • YOU CONDESCENDING LITTLE PRICK.

  • im sad he's not hot anymore =(

  • what's with the 'nose drip'?...he got a cold?...or something else that starts with C...O...?

  • He's in his 60's so it MUST be "C.O." aka cocaine. Allergies or a cold are MUCH less likely.

  • Badfinger's Straight on is another great production

  • can sumone tell me...wats the name of the song dat starts at 5:14...i really like it

  • "I Saw The Light" from the album "Something/Anything"

  • i first heard "something anything on acid ,,fuck me ,,, i thought !..

  • Thanks for posting this. Always great to see another interview.

  • Todd is Godd!!!!

  • One of my all time artists!

  • Great Man,Great Singer, and Great Musician.I have much respect for him . I agree with the things he says about record companies, and why he sings his songs for . I hope his son gets to play pro baseball:)

  • is the interviewer peter joseph from zeitgiest: the movie?

  • Very interesting interview. Todd has probably forgotten more about music production and vocal arrangement than most people will ever know. It's hard to believe he is not at the top of every artist's wanted list for producers.

  • In the biz they have short memory spans, but if they know him or know of him he gets called. He's the man.

  • It's so interesting how people sing so different from the way they talk :)

  • My favorite album Todd has produced is "Forever Now", by The Psychedelic Furs... Freaking awesome album...

  • My fav production is XTC - Skylarking

But I love the Furs too.

  • Thanks,I haven't heard that song for years. Can anyone post Ikon here?

  • Not likely, the song is over 20 minutes long.

You should buy the CD. It's one of the best

    albums ever recorded.

  • Todd is intellectually stimulating. I haven't seen him in many interviews. Thanks for posting this one. I've loved his music since the 70's. He is like a fine wine, he gets better with age. TODD IS GOD!

  • For the life of me I cannot remember the song at the end of this video. Can anybody help? It's driving me nuts cause I love that song.

  • It's called "The Ikon" from the album

    "Todd Rundgren's Utopia" 1974

  • Rundgren is god, lets just leave it at that.

  • Silly to say "bettter than the Beatles", as silly as saying Hendrix is "better" than Clapton or Jimmy Page is "better" than Larry Carlton. They're all geniuses in their own way. How do you compare Steely Dan to the Who or Blue Rodeo to Graham Parker, and why would you? Todd and the Beatles? Just be thankful your life was blessed by both.

  • Well said. But I must say, and I probably am incapable of articulating exactly why but Todd Rundgren is far an away a singularly unique musical talent on so many levels, that there exist so few talents who can sit together with him on a comparative list. The few I can come up with are Frank Zappa and Chick Corea. There is no comparison with the Beatles like apples and oranges, they are both fruits and that is that. Both are undeniably worthy of praise. Todd is more organic and genuine, says I.

  • Hey! You can't call Todd a fruit!

  • Yea, I know. No fruit. If I could compose, produce, engineer, mix and re-master with the chops this guy has, I guess I would. Enjoy him while he lasts.

  • Yeah, I just don't understand people who have to compare and rate artists. Says something very sad about our "winner take all" society. Isn't it better to have LOTS a really good artists without fighting about who is "better." Some days I want to listen to Tom Petty; some days only Bowie will do; some days Nirvana or Hank Williams. I don't want to start rating them. I like them all -- and I like it that there are so many good musicians to choose from.

  • Bravo, well said. I am sorry I did not see your comment till today. I am too an eclectic audiophile. I even can get into some hip hop and have written one. Todd is a great inspiration to my own music recording but I can not approach his level of song writing talent, musicianship and technical capabilities. I am influenced by him on my instrumental work in that I use soft trumpets echoed and I learned that from him.

  • AMEN. We have been truly blessed to an extraordinary period of music.

  • This man is the most incredible genius on the

planet today, bar none. Anyone that doesn't see this is missing something inside. Todd is

Godd. His new music, Arena, is his best work yet, you will see soon enough. He will start

touring at Arena's around the world very soon.

  • Todd - My Hero - Better than the Beatles. There. I said it.

  • give the brother a kleenex !

  • I love you Todd! Todd is Godd!

  • Todd Rundgren could give anyone an inferiority complex. A seriously talented guy in so many aspects of music.

  • I have to put him up there with the Beatles.

  • thanx too much for something i haven't seen & heard,fellow Runtist

  • great great, but there are artists that are extremely talented that he wouldn't be able to produce. my music is very complex and progressive. my virtuosoity and creativity will be too difficult for Todd to handle. though he is gifted, I don't think he is opened to people who play music way above his level.

  • Please, try not to be so modest next time you think of yourself.

  • You are not fit to grovel at Todds unwashed feet...now get back to work...many toilets for you to clean today-

  • Yeah boyyeeeee

  • dude you attitude blows, same as your complex and progressive music

  • @tisisils (on pg 8 of these comments) You're funny...self absorbed, but quite funny all the same.

  • Great interview. Rundgren's one visionary, thoughtful dude -- great musician, too.

  • Wonderful and interesting, thanks so much. Love Todd!!!!

  • Many thanks for posting this. Never seen it before.

  • Hey Really nice piece, well edited and packaged as well as a flowing interview. Todd seemed at a peaceful (but pragmatic) place and it was nice to see that.

    Thanks for posting.

  • A true genius, a visionary, a poet, the world needs a lot more Todds!

  • I see Todd and the piano. I wonder what he performed....

  • yes most wonderful love it .thanks

  • i loved it thanks sweety ;)

  • Thanks for posting this I had not seen this one before!

  • fabulous!!thank you!

i would love to see more of that 20th century snippet of todd singing "hawking"

  • Nice!!! Thanks for putting it out there
