Pretty Vacant is a classic! Its so ausom!!!! The best thing about it is the bass, unfortunatly they saked Glen and so the vertion of NMTB doesnt have that quality. You can fingd it on the sex pistols silver jubilee compilation...
Malcom was so caught up in the cleverness of his own business scheme he never really realized what a special thing he had on his hands. A band like the Pistols comes along once every twenty years, tops. We're not gonna have another.
Malcolm winged it and when something unexpected happened he claimed he had planned it all alone.
Like the Great R'n'Roll Swindle. He tells us that his plan from the beginning was to create this group that everyone would want but no one could manage, so they would keep having to pay them off and get rid. It's just bollocks! He just used events to his advantage.
Yeah in the Filth and the Fury there's a great bit where Cook says something like "Malcolm was so obsessed with his fucking media circus but he just didn't realise we were a great band". Which is very true.
its the stone roses ex manager he screwed the roses out of their carrer basicly wasent satisfied we their money type stoine roses blood on the turntable
yeh but every1 new that pete townshend wrote all the music! with the pistols although every1 ses dat glen wrote all the music were still in the dark on exactly hu it was coz dey all sed it was johnnys lyrics and steves music
your saying pete townsend out of the who wrote all the pistols music im saying doubt it very much pal i dont think its true m8 if im wrong i will apologise publicly too you m8 but i dont think he did im off to look it up m8y respect
no m8 i wasnt saying that e wrote all the pistols songs. I'm sayin e wrote the whos music but nt mani people who just like the whos music n nt really like follow them would know. i was sayin also that its a bit of a mystery about the pistols coz noone really knows.
Nah, he thought he was a part of the Dolls but you ask Johansson and he will laugh at the thought of Malc being anything more than the bands "haberdasher".
Love hearing the demo of "Pretty Vacant". I've always enjoyed that song. But please, tell me why they had to have Malcolm McLaren in this documentary? He screwed The Pistols so badly in many ways.
Because he was as much a part of the history as the band.
This would be a terrible documentary if they left out Malc. Whatever you think of him, whatever role you feel he had in the creation and success of the band is of no importance. The fact is, Malc was (actually, I should say "almost") as much a part of this band as John.
that's the tippical commet from someone who tries to seem "interesting and inteligent" with a "sharp" comment. The truth is you sound dumb. they were real and sounded great, Mclaren is different story.
I was just going to write something very similar. As soon as I read Mmoo's post I thought exactly the same as you. It is obvious s/he is trying to sound intelligent but unfortunately for them real intelligent people are able to see right through them and see that s/he actually has nothing to say and has said nothing!
Boring!
Anyway, in as much as they were boys in a band then yes, they were a boy band but if anyone thinks they were created by Malc, they are talking bollocks!
WHAT D FUK R U TALKIN ABOUT. JUST LISTEN TO THE SONG ON THIS ALBUM DEN LISTEN TO MCFLY OR HUEVER IS AROUND TODAY AND U'LL SEE THAT THEY AREN'T. hOW CAN YE SAY THAT THE BEST PUNK BAND OF ALL TIME ARE A POP BAND.
The Sex Pistols shook up the firmament of music and society more than any band in the last 40 years. The rummblings are still being felt today. Music and culture would never be the same again. And all of this caused by one band with one album. AMAZING!
Not accidental. Great Band. Intelligent Band. Introduced a new genre. 4 terrific chaps (even Glen) + Sid. N.M.T.B. is on par with The Velvet Underground's debut. When they came into my orbit in 1976 they changed my thinking. They're 1 or 2 years older than me. It's like playground hierarchy and they managed to piss off all the old school they and us were fed up with. Oh yeah, Johnny was the leader.
Fortunately the priest died and that plagued him for a bit. Ha ha.

They came, they saw, they conquered, and they were done,
just like that. Quite possibly, this is one of the top 10
rock albums of all time! Their influence lives on today.
