@reeread You took it the wrong way, please notice the :) sign at the end of the statement. It was ment to be like a "the 1980's want their song back statement" I am in no way a hater. I am sorry if I hurt your feelings, I did not convey my point to hurt anyone. Again, I am in no way a hater. If I did hurt your feelings please accept my true and sincere apology. I am im perfect, and I never ment for my words to hurt.
@reeread Yeah sometimes the inflection of humor doesn't translate to web posts. I get what you're saying, he does much better when he gets to use it, versus not having it in his chops library. Thanks for responding and trying to clear it up man. If everyone was that humble the web would be a much nicer place. Rock on!
hahaha...I should have known! rememeber these? "Hey, you done warming up yet?" or...."When are you going to play something good?"....hahaha....gotta love the Muppets....and they knew a thing or two about drummers!!
This is a very popular riff used by today's mod metal dudes....but it really started back 30 years ago or so with the jazz fusion cats like, michael walden, tony williams, simon phillips, dave weckyl, and billy cobham....you gotta dig those guys....
But I gotta tell ya....even though there were a lot of 32nd notes in this little example, I don't think I played any trips....
Very good young Grasshopper. Can you keep straight time? Can you play simple as well? You have come so far and have so much to learn! You've got it!! Narada is a GREAT "supreme" inspiration. Now go study yer triple paradiddles at 248 bps!
tell me of this ' straight time ' you refer to. once, I did some time in a prison on the planet Hoth and I kept insisting that I was straight! The Michael Walden Fill is a great riff to use in drum solos, like the one that I won in 1996, a little thing called the Guitar Center Drumoff. It's also good in fusion bands, new metal bands, and if you really want to piss off your other bandmates, use it in 'brown eyed girl'....lotsa laughs! , I'm off to do my dance gig...so, what is a grasshopper?
Most definitely, the title says Walden as does the description...unfortunately Boba wasn't schooled in good writing because of all his bounty hunter training, but please accept our apologies and we'll let Boba know! Congrats on having such a great uncle!
@queenieloverdance1 Well then, your uncle changed music for me forever. Give him a big thanks for me. I'll be seeing him Oct 21/11. Can't wait. My first time.
Thank you so much, however we do not endorse wearing fast food containers and wrappers while trying to perform due to potential suffocation risks. Plus, you're head will always smell like fried chicken.
Seriously, that does sound killer! He use that on Visions of the Emerald Beyond anywhere? One of my favorite records ever! (Mahavishnu Orquestra). I wish you would have given one more at interim speed, like mid speed, so I could have heard the lick develop. Sweet playing man. Thanks for that.
Yo DDrums!
Thank you for your kind words....but Yoda actually knows this one already!

nice stuff man! the drums sound outstanding-
Narada is the man so that means that transitively speaking, since you are playing a Narada riff that you are the man-
check out this solo from a Narada fan AND student ( I worked with him many moons ago) and the author of
"The Book of Funk Beats- grooves for snare, bass and hihat"
(hey this book has alot of naradesque grooves!!!!)
