Hi Robert I started my first swim class today . I'm at the Beginner level. When I stand in the pool I have to tip toe, I am really scared I drown while trying to do what the instructor says, my next class is on Wednesday. Any videos to help me ? Please reply soon :)
I'm an adult and cant swim.I'm not scared of the water and would love to know how to swim my only issue is that as soon as my feet dont touch floor or if i start to float (which i havent mastered yet) i panic. This is probably because i did nearly drown when i was younger. can you give me any tips or help
@theSKRiPTUR3Z how old are you? i'm 12, and miss pool parties because I can't swim. i
m going to the pool in a couple of mins and my sis is gonna try to teach me. I'M SO SCARED! SHE PUTS ME IN THE WATER FOR LIKE 10 SECONDS AND WATER GETS IN MY NOSE, MOUTH AND EARS!
Robert, my 4 years ADHD son loves water. He can hold breath in the water and also enjoying to dive in the water, do you think he is ready to learn the basic skill? What style should I teach 1st? And is it suitable to teach in 4 ft swimming pool? Thanks, although the video is quite some times ago, but it's help s a lot.
@MSBABYNICA18 Hi how old is she? Don't try to teach her to swim. Just have fun and play with her in the water. When she feels comfortable in the water she will learn to swim. Robert
@normandyangel Hi, yeah we made the video over fifteen years ago and it sat on the shelf awhile because I ran out of money. Then Youtube came along and was the answer to getting the video to the public. I never wanted to make money on this video so Youtube was the solution and the perfect medium. Your right, the kids are all grown up. Three of them I see on a regular basis because they are my own. Everyone I talk to feels happy about this video and believes they took part in something positive.

Alright, here's my problem. I'm 14, never swam a day in my life and everytime I jump into the water I get this strange feeling and I start to take water in. I would sink and water would start rushing in and I would get dizzy. (6'1, 200lbs)

@GymnaticsRules1234 Hi, I think you just have to try and go to the pool once a day even when you don't have swimming lessons. Watch the videos and practice. Let me know how it goes, Robert
Hi Robert, I am 10. I have always wanted to learn how to swim but I am scared of drowning. Also, I have problems opening my eyes in the water because it stings a little. Is it OK for a beginner swimmer to wear goggles with a nose part?
hello robert, im 25 years old. im so passionate to learn swimming. and a swimming course here (Malaysia) is very expensive. after watching, learn and most important PRACTICE your lessons, im a swimmer on the way! thanks to you and the video as well as the magic word, PRACTICE!! PRACTICE!! PRACTICE!! btw, just to let you know that i captured the first 3 lessons in 4 days, about 5 hours of time!
hi robert i am 23yrs old female, never learnt how to swim,I am scared that if i can't touch the bottom of the suface, i will drown. I tend to panic, so i just started watching ur vid hope it helps :)
@nlytend1 Hi, just make sure you have the correct posture in the water. One, two, three inhale deep. Lean forward with face down in the water and be a starfish with your arms and legs. Practice, play, practice, play!!!!
I am a 28-year old boy & I've been a water phobic since I can remember. I've never had a coach to train me or to help me to overcome my phobia. You can not imagine how awful i was in the water, I couldn't even go at the center of the pull by walking.
After I watched your videos & going ahead step by step & trying to feel comfortable in the water before doing anything, I Could swim! yes, that's lovely, I CAN SWIM and I AM NOT A WATER PHOBIC ANYMORE.
@ElisabethandJaniceTH Hi, Sounds like you just need to spend more time at the pool. Just start going regularly. Once or twice a week and just play. Ears popping is normal. Its just like going up in a plane. You can releive the pressure by blowing against your nose. Sounds like you can float. If you are heavy set then you should try swimming breaststroke or on your back using the elementary backstroke. Practice, practice, practice!!! Robert
Hiii im 15 and i've been told to take up swimming to help with some health problems but the problem is i cant swim... I passed a easy swim test at camp but im super slow adn can really only doggy paddle adn go on my back adn i can never stay afloat if in one spot or go under water and swim i go NO WHERE please help!!!
@ElisabethandJanice Hi, Floating! I think your holding your head too high. Count, take a deep breath and then get your face down in the water for at least five to ten seconds. Take on a starfish form with your arms and legs.Practice this where you can stand up until you can hold your breath and float for around thirty seconds. If your feet sink to the bottom this is pretty normal.Jjust move your arms more in front of your head and make sure your head is down to your ears in the water. Robert
Hello! in 12 and i cant swim my problem is that when i put my face in the water and try to to swim i feel like im going to drown and i get scared!!!. any help????
@00MeAndMyself00 Hi, it sounds like you might have a problem with Claustraphobia. That is a fear of small places. When you put your face in the water it is like being stuck in a small place. Try wearing some goggles and then start the lessons. Good Luck, Robert
I need help!!! when i try to go underwater i feel like i am going 2 throw up and u said 2 blow out through ur nose but then i loose air quicker! Please help!!!!!
@pspisbeast9 Hi, I think the first thing you should do is try to relax. Take a deep breath and then hold it. When you hold your breath, catch it like you are trying to hold back a sneeze. As if you don't want any of the sneeze to come out of your mouh or nose. Practice that a few times outside of the water. In the water make sure you place your face down in the water. Looking at the pool floor not with your head up like when you watch tv. Try doing this for up to ten seconds. Practice!!!
Hi Robert, I am a 57 year old woman from Asia. I had never learnt swimming in my life. I approached an instructor and he thought that older people like myself cannot learn and didn't teach. I then referred to your video for several weeks and I am so happy to tell you that I could do a complete lapse in freestyle today! Your step by step lessons were immensely useful! Thank you so much for putting these videos online.
@tanaj10 Hi, try goggles for your eyes and you have to get a tight seal with your nose. To seal your nose just try to catch your breath like before you sneeze. Like when you hold back a sneeze to keep from blowing the sneeze on the people around you. Give it a try and let me know. Good Luck.
@northtexasswimming hi, i know it's stupid im 24 and i can't swim. wondering where the best place is to start learning? my baby brother is 10 and he keeps asking me to take him swimming.
@LLOYD19851012 Hi, I would try and find a pool. You should be able to stand and the water only be waist deep. It is also helpful if the water is clear so you can see the bottom. Good Luck, Robert
im 12 years old and when i try to swim i feel like i keep in the same place and if i aopen my eyes on the water ( sea water ) when i get back up they hurt.
i am learning swimming too. i have been done lot of swimming too. but i can do it by putting my head out of water so i can swim a small distance only till i have air in, so can u help me with some of ur advise!!! Thax ur video was good!!!!~Ronnie
Hi Robert - thank you so much for a really helpful video. At 34, finally I am no longer afraid to put my head in the water when swimming thanks to you.
@HEKNOWSTHEPLANS Hi! Sure, give it a try. start at number 1 but don't move to the next step until you have mastered the precceding skills. Take care and good luck, Robert
@northtexasswimming Ok! thank U. I a grown person too. I am learning swimming from youtube only as I dont have coaches in my neighbourhood pond. Well its not deep only 4 feet.
Hello Robert.I am a ten year old kid who doesn't know how to swim. I been practicing for such a long time but still don't know how to swim. I can only do the doggie paddle for 2-5 seconds. Do you have any advice? And if this helps your reply, I am 68 pounds. Thank you!
@Rileytheumbreon Hi Taylor, your probably holding your head too high out of the water. Doggie paddle is a good start to getting the right feel in the water. Check out the floating video. Take a big breath and then put your face down in the water. Then just lean forward and push off with your feet. Arms out in front of you and your face down in the water for between five and ten seconds. Practice, practice, practice!!!
Hello, I am in a swim class now but it seems as if I still am having a hard time learnig how to float and breath through my nose. Do you have any advice?
@37ellis Hi, your probably still holding your head too high. Take a deep breath and hold your lips and nose closed like your trying to hold back a sneeze. Then lay out in the water keeping your eyes looking at the bottom of the pool. Don't look up. You might try holding your chin to your chest. Have your arms out in front of you like a Y not at your side like an airplane. Just check out the videos and practice.
Hi,I'm Joanna and I'm 15 and a half years old.I want to ask that is it hard for a person having a weight of 70 kg to learn swimming?one more thing I can swim with my hands straight and attached to eachother, my feet paddling and my head inside the water but after a while when I try to get my head out of water to breathe, my body suddenly goes underwater and I can't swim any further and then my friend quickly holds me.Can you suggest something for this?
@joannatrox23 Hi Joanna, People who weigh alot can swim just as good as anyone else. The water is a good place to make sport. In the water you don't have all the pressure on your knees. Try floating on your back. On your back your face is out of the water and then you should have no problem breathing. Check out the elementary backstroke on youtube. I am sure there are some videos which can help you. Remember to always stay where you can stand. Let me know how it goes. Robert
@MrGammymix Hi Mr Gammy, Just watch the videos and learn the skills one after the other. Practice, practice, practice. Submerging and floating are the most important. When you have them down the rest is pretty easy. Take care, Robert
@LJR900 Hi LJR. Sure man, its never too late to learn! Take a big breath and lay your face down in the water. You should be looking down at the pool bottom. Stretch your arms out in front of your head with the palms of your hands down in the water. What your trying to do is find your center of balance. If your legs start going down don't worry, they will find the right place to settle. Hold your breath from five to ten seconds. Slowly move your arms to the side like an airplane. What happens?
I've only swam a few times in my life (I'm 14), and summer is coming fast. My friends have invited me to go swimming, but I can't swim. I'll definitely take notes from your video series.
@2starsonly Hi 2Stars, Lots of people have to rub their eyes after they come out of the water. The water might be irritating your eyes because the Ph is not balanced. Just get yourself some goggles, or a mask or just close your eyes when you are under the water. Try to blow little baby bubbles out of your nose when under water. If air is going out then water can't go in. Let me know how it goes. Take care, Robert
@2starsonly Hi 2Stars, The water is most likely irritating your eyes because of a Ph imbalance. Just get some goggles a mask or just clse your eyes. To keep the water from going in your nose, blow little baby bubbles out while your face is in the water. As long as air is coming out water can't go in. Let me know how it goes. Take care, Robert
@wondergirl1223 Hi Wondergirl. I guess it does sound funny but you would be surprised how many kids I have taught how to swim and then when they can swim and you throw toys into the deeper end of the pool they can't go down and get them because they are so buoyant. Good Luck !! Practice, practice, practice. Robert
I've been following ur steps...though at my pool the coach started directly with kicking n tht is where I said m gnt gonna follow him....lol.......coz there r guys out here who can swim bt dnt know how to float........m doing good at submerging floating n able to hold breath for 15 secs....n started kicking today, hope to get to 4th level n perfect it.......I jess wish u were here to teach me :D
I'm 25 yrs old.....do this tehcnique work for my age also or there is another approach for sumwht older ppl compared to kids in this video..I've started yesterday and was able to achieve the 10 secs target.....hoping to go to next level today :D
@TheCoolguy143 Hi Coolguy, These are pretty much the same skills everyone has to learn no matter how old they are. Just learn the skills and in the end you should be swimming.Good Luck, Robert!!!
I live in North Texas and in the summer if I have time I still give swimming lessons. The best thing you can do is watch the videos and practice. Practice one skill until you get it right and then move to the next one. You will eventually get it. Just be patient and don't give up.
wow !! the kids that he teaches is very good and great when i started swiming at the age of 3 i know to swim.. its really true finally now im 11 i knwo how to swim
@U2HereY Hi,Try wearing a full face mask (over eyes and nose) until you get used to being in the water. After you get so far that your fear has subsided a little then try working with only goggles and then without anything at all. Good Luck, Robert.
I swam in the sea for the first time last month and really enjoyed it...then I rememberd Where did I learned swiming...its from youtube Mr. Robert Bina..these lessons are So powerfull...and basic.

37ellis 1 year ago
@37ellis Hi, your probably still holding your head too high. Take a deep breath and hold your lips and nose closed like your trying to hold back a sneeze. Then lay out in the water keeping your eyes looking at the bottom of the pool. Don't look up. You might try holding your chin to your chest. Have your arms out in front of you like a Y not at your side like an airplane. Just check out the videos and practice.
Take care, Robert

Hi,I'm Joanna and I'm 15 and a half years old.I want to ask that is it hard for a person having a weight of 70 kg to learn swimming?one more thing I can swim with my hands straight and attached to eachother, my feet paddling and my head inside the water but after a while when I try to get my head out of water to breathe, my body suddenly goes underwater and I can't swim any further and then my friend quickly holds me.Can you suggest something for this?
joannatrox23 1 year ago
@joannatrox23 Hi Joanna, People who weigh alot can swim just as good as anyone else. The water is a good place to make sport. In the water you don't have all the pressure on your knees. Try floating on your back. On your back your face is out of the water and then you should have no problem breathing. Check out the elementary backstroke on youtube. I am sure there are some videos which can help you. Remember to always stay where you can stand. Let me know how it goes. Robert

MrGammymix 1 year ago
@MrGammymix Hi Mr Gammy, Just watch the videos and learn the skills one after the other. Practice, practice, practice. Submerging and floating are the most important. When you have them down the rest is pretty easy. Take care, Robert

hey robert im 14 and im trying to learn how to swim and do u think theres still time for me to swim and when ever i try to float i cant
LJR900 1 year ago

I'll definitely take notes from your video series.

and when breathing under water turning my head to the side
it feels fine then when i put it back in the water it goes up my nose
also
i have to stop to take a breath ass in put my feet on the ground
please add me as a friend and give advice plz ass a young lady i think i should learn how to swim although swimming is a fav lesson
2starsonly 1 year ago

Take care, Robert

wondergirl1223 1 year ago
@wondergirl1223 Hi Wondergirl. I guess it does sound funny but you would be surprised how many kids I have taught how to swim and then when they can swim and you throw toys into the deeper end of the pool they can't go down and get them because they are so buoyant. Good Luck !! Practice, practice, practice. Robert

@aliciaprejean @aliciaprejean Hi Alicia,
I live in North Texas and in the summer if I have time I still give swimming lessons. The best thing you can do is watch the videos and practice. Practice one skill until you get it right and then move to the next one. You will eventually get it. Just be patient and don't give up.

U2HereY 2 years ago
@U2HereY Hi,Try wearing a full face mask (over eyes and nose) until you get used to being in the water. After you get so far that your fear has subsided a little then try working with only goggles and then without anything at all. Good Luck, Robert.
