This video reminds me of something I had heard about the original temple in Mecca. That it too was a temple where a chief god was worshiped along with all the other tribal or ancestral gods were worshiped too.
Makes me wonder if Religion was the first of the corporations to want a monopoly.
@brettppalmer Yes it does, but it's just meant to be a brief interlude sharing some additional information while I work on the next video in the series. I would have much preferred to include this in the introductory video, but as I only just came across this info that wasn't possible.
@diagoras54 Nonetheless, fascinating. And thanks for the book title! Will add that to my list of "must reads"! Have you read Dever's "Did God Have a Wife?" If not, you might enjoy it.
@brettppalmer I own it, in fact, along with "Who Were the Early Israelites and Where Did They Come From?" and "What Did the Biblical Writers Know and When Did They Know It?" I also highly recommend Israel Finkelstein and Neil Asher Silberman's "The Bible Unearthed" and "David and Solomon".

Fascinating. Could you include some references in the description?

Good stuff! But it ends rather abruptly, doesn't it?
